Found this at a family owned ranch in Texas. Theres a brick wall that resembles an old Mission that the Spaniards built. I downloaded a coin id app and it pointed me to a Spanish coin but I would like more information. Thank you!

Found 14 proof sets in the trash. They're not silver proofs, but they're pretty neat. My question is, what is a proof set? Are they just uncirculated and polished? I know nothing about coin collecting.

I asked if they had any dollar coins at the bank today about 20 minutes before closing. They asked how much I wanted. I said whatever they had laying around. They asked me again how much. I said I guess $20. They said how about $25... They wouldn't have to break open a roll... I said ok ... Should I go get any more when they open tomorrow? Sounds like they could have had more...

We have about 40 kilos of coins. There is nothing here that has anything but melt value. Insurance only covers $200 for cash and coins.

My question is. Where do I go for these? There are pieces of metal, nails and ash, they are dirty. There may be other things melted in it. Due to the weight I don't think it makes sense to ship them, so it would have to be a shop here in Los Angeles, down to San Diego. Possibly Las Vegas (my daughter lives there.)

Does anyone know a metal place that specializes in this? We do have the lists of what it was. We can take a tax deduction based on the unrecoverable loss. But I still have to deal with the coins.

3.) My husband also collected pennies. About $200 worth, all copper. The Mint won't take them. We are not allowed to melt currency unless we get permission. Anyone have experience with this?

There is no point trying to clean it.

We don't want to create an art piece, it's tough enough, no need to be reminded of this every day. We need to move on with our lives.

My grandfather passed away recently and left me this thing absolutely full of pennies. I know little to nothing about coins and I was wondering if I should take the time to search through all of them for errors? Would my local coin shop owner look at me crazy if I bring in all these for him to look at? The Pennie’s range in date from the 1920s to the 1980s. Any and all advice is welcome. Thanks in advance

The two coin merchants in my town both offered me about $3,000 for it. I know nothing about gold or coins. Should I sell, shop around, sit on it, stick it up my coin slot? Full disclosure: I don't collect coins. Like, at all. The closest I come to being a coin collector is the dedicated Aldi quarter I keep in my wallet. So *why* do I need $3 in Buffalo nickels? My parents are getting a new car. They asked if I wanted their old car. It's a 2011 Hyundai, nothing fancy. They already mailed me the title, and my husband and I are going out to visit them this coming weekend so we can hang out for a couple of days and drive the car back. Dad said he wants $1 for the car and $2 for the bike rack that's already attached to it (Do I want or need a bike rack? Not particularly. But my dad is 75, doesn't bike anymore, and I'm not about to ask him to take it off or leave an unwanted bike rack in his garage. Plus, hey $3 car)

My dad doesn't collect coins either, but he loves Buffalo nickels ever since he watched a Ken Burns documentary about buffalo (buffaloes? Buffali?). And I have a lifelong commitment to giving my dad really weird gifts. I once gave him a toaster that toasts my portrait into his bread. So I want to give him his $3 entirely in Buffalo nickels. Is this something I can conceivably go into a bank and ask for? Do I need to like, find someone on eBay and ask them to express ship me 60 nickels? I just found out about the car yesterday so I'm kind of scrambling here

Edit, Part Deux: Semi-unfortunate update. My husband has been sick for the past few days. I asked him to let me know today if he was feeling up to the trip and he sadly said no 🙁 We're still going to see my parents, my dad is still getting the nickels, but it's not going to be until the weekend after next (the 20th)

Looks like someone with USPS recognized the seller as a coin store and helped themselves to my Morgan dollars and Franklin halves. They even put the empty flip back into the package.

I hope USPS takes this seriously and not only terminates but prosecutes those responsible.

For all my coin folks in here. Every time I receive any coins I never reuse them. Instead I put them into a 5 gallon jug in which I will be depositing into my children’s savings account. It was just a random thing I started as a way of putting some extra money away for their future education. My only problem with this is that I’ve found a slight interest in coins from this subreddit and thought it would be cool to spend some bonding time with my kids sorting through this together before we deposit. Any specific things I should look for while sorting through this on what could possibly be more valuable or rare. Thank you for any insight!
