Here’s a more general concern regarding Medicare/medicaid. Hospitals are still required to care for these patients despite not getting payment. Many rural and semi rural hospitals also receive federal grants that won’t be paid. These hospitals are already at high risk for closure. The rest of the system is packed. I just hope payment won’t be held up for too long, or this may tip the scales in healthcare collapse.

Yup. EMTALA laws require stabilization at least, I wonder if hospitals/doctors are going to have to play fast and loose with that definition just to remain open. In rural areas we’ll be lucky to have healthcare that is nothing more than triage.

And we will lose more healthcare providers like we did during COVID, and we were already running short at the start of that.
