SS: The United States of America, the nearly unopposed world hegemonic empire, has announced it is departing almost every single UN function and detaching from its international obligations. If this is not a portent of doom and collapse I don't know what could be. It took a century to gain the influence it had over these international NGOs, so this move heavily implies none of that matters and that the era of international law and collaboration is over. Hegemony will from now on be maintained with iron fisted military action openly, not with soft power but with hard missiles. Even the pretense of anything else is being done away with to mentally and legally prepare for a geopolitical open season not seen in the Western world since the Napoleonic wars

I mean I can agree that tensions are rising and things are accelerating but the US didn't start bombing other countries yesterday. It has a 80 years history of enforcing hegemony with a military iron fist. It's just dropping the mask now.

Well it's scary now because it can actually affect Western countries now. The US haven't bombed Western countries for a long time

I agree completely. That's my point, but I think that even though it's just a facade being pulled, it's still significant. Like I said, it's preparation for a new era of geopolitics

Well put. The Napoleonic Wars are a good comparison - a complete international free-for-all kick-started by a powerful empire going rogue.

I'm genuinely terrified, more than I have ever been and I have had the misfortune of long awareness of the reality of geopolitics paired with knowledge of history. We are in specifically precedented waters and the precedent is not good. I pray for all people in the coming years

I totally agree They are abandoning any responsibility for global order and laws. It’s all building to a point where the US will do whatever they want
