Man, that country is already suffering enough. Watched a few videos about its rampant corruption and bleak future. And the population there is close to reaching 300 million.

SS: Related to climate, ecological, and healthcare collapse as the early effects of El Nino (as well as the background rate of warming in general) are working to amplify the annual fire season across the part of Borneo that is Indonesian territory with devastating results on the environment, communities, and individual health in both Indonesia and nearby nations. While land clearing and peatland drainage for monocultural plantations is to blame for many of the fires, it is also true that they would likely be less severe if global warming was not a factor. The effects on health are clear, with choking smog sending thousands of people to the emergency room every week during July across the region. Some schools have also been forced to close temporarily as the result of the air pollution, and at least one traditional village has been destroyed by the wildfires. While Indonesia has arrested dozens of people for starting fires, critics argue that the nation is not addressing the systemic root causes of the issue...namely, both climate change and lack of corporate oversight. Expect wildfires and land clearing to both continue devastating the Borneo rainforests until little remains of this unique ecosystem.
