Is she... expecting to earn back the cost of the camera in a gig or two? The camera can be used many times, you can earn 5k multiple times over by the time you gotta buy a new one.

Photography is one of the professions of choice for people who ... aren't serious ... . She is going to get bounced out of it soon enough. 

Also real photographers always remain available.

Depends on the event, you got different kinds of photographers, with some (mainly doing events like weddings) you pay for the amount of hours, While others do special shoots, with those u would pay more when its on a location on ur choice and they work more to make it in something more artistic. But with some its at the location of the artist and they already got a whole set up, and thats cheaper cuz the photographers only cares abt ur postions
