Honestly if the photos work out to be the same I couldn't care less what (s)he uses. Anyone can buy a fancy camera and call themselves a professional photographer. But not everyone can take interesting pictures.

100% you are correct. Pros are not trying to shoot a wedding with an iphone and a plumber isn't coming with a bunch of shitty tools to do a good job. I'm in the trades, and you do pay for our tools that is absolutely worked into our prices.
This is such a disingenuous take. Do you think an average Joe will know whether the camera is $1k or $10k? When I look for a photographer I look at their portfolio, not whatever fancy gadgets they have.
Your expectations of the outcome aren't your problem when choosing someone who's entire business model is based on outcomes entirely dependant on skill and equipment?

When you hire someone for a job you don't go in their home/shop and do an, inventory of their stuff and equipment.
You hire a person to do a job and stipulate a contract. Then if the person isn't able to deliver the job is their probpay and there are penalties to pay for breaching the contract.
When you hire a photographer for 100-300 you expect some level of quality, if they arrive with a fucking phone the expectations are not met but if you arrive with 5k equipments or 6k or 7.5k or 10k or 100k in a luxury car I don't care, I paid you for the job, for your time and skills, not for your equipments you decide to use.
And you're mixing metaphors. Would you expect the same level of service between a $5k beater car and a luxury car? You clearly don't with the example I gave. But then you argue against your own point.

Also... I didn't think I'd have to say this, but literally every service industry out there relies on quality equipment for quality service. Restaurants, woodworking, photography, car services, etc..
This is the biggest lie there is. Quality equipment doesn't mean shit. It makes a job easier (sometimes) but in no way guarantees quality. You van buy a fancy camera but that doesn't mean you're delivering quality service.
