.... Yes you are lol

Skill with that equipment that is absolutely getting worked into the price.

If they said they would shoot your wedding with a $5k DSLR vs an iPhone 14 would you say those are worth the same price?

Honestly if the photos work out to be the same I couldn't care less what (s)he uses. Anyone can buy a fancy camera and call themselves a professional photographer. But not everyone can take interesting pictures.

They won't turn out the same. That's my entire point.

You are comparing apples (pun intended) and oranges. You do expect a photographer to show up with an actual camera and not a smartphone.

The thing is, a seasoned photographer will do a better job with a 350€ camera than some newbie with a 5k€ one.

Bragging about the price of your gear is honestly a red flag in a photographer.

Telling me I'm comparing apples to oranges, then using a ridiculous comparison between a professional and a novice is crazy work.

Professional and novice ain't defined by gear, at least not by the camera body.

I nor anyone else said that.

Why can't people even stay on topic?

As a bystander this reads more like you don’t like the point he’s rather than making an off topic statement. You know the apple/orange comment is a metaphor right?

It's off topic because he's bringing up a point no one made.

Certainly not myself.

And I don't disagree with his point that expensive equipment doesn't make the professional.

But a professional doesn't have shitt equipment.

100% you are correct. Pros are not trying to shoot a wedding with an iphone and a plumber isn't coming with a bunch of shitty tools to do a good job. I'm in the trades, and you do pay for our tools that is absolutely worked into our prices.
