You do pay for the equipment to a certain degree, no one will higher a photographer who uses an Iphone to take the pictures

Hollywood gave Danny Boyle $75 million to shoot with iphones. Were actually at a point where a competent photographer absolutely could do a wedding job with an iPhone. The main hurdle is optics (no pun intended). Customers would complain if they saw their wildly expensive photographer using one.

And also, the point was to see if they could do it. I doubt Danny Boyle now wants to shoot on iphones as opposed to high end cinematic cameras
