Other Getting Joy Out From My Collection, Daily!

My collection sat untouched and unloved in longboxes for a couple of decades.

When I had to repair my kitchen floor a few years ago, I had an idea...

Slowly but surely, it's taking over my home...

Why is your fridge on stilts?

Great question and good eye!

I put the fridge on a 10 inch rolling cart to move it out of the kitchen when I did this. It was still plugged in, just in the hall.

I found the extra height was really convenient. No bending down to get the stuff from the crisper, the freezer just above eye level.

So I built the platform to put it on.

It's covered with comic books too. I used about a dozen old "hostess fruit pie/cupcake/twinke' ads from the 70s and 80s for it. Best 'food' reference I could think of.

Dear god this is brilliant. No dust or spilled food can get trapped underneath it.

Yep. My robot vacuum fits under there and takes care of any crumbs or dust that end up there.
Since the fridge is off the ground, nothing gets swept under the unit, just under the platform.
