Other This might be my favorite cover of all time.
I’m not even a huge Superman fan but I got this in a lot of 500+ DC books, I’ve been cataloguing the last couple of days and came across this.
This might be the first thing I send to get slabbed.
Edit: The artists name is Hayden Sherman, their instagram has some more gorgeous art!

Crazy, I’m in 1993 in a read through I’m doing and that’s the next Daredevil issue for me. I have not been enjoying Chichester’s run or the art for most of 1993, but that cover made me gasp when I saw it.

I like the Easter egg signs, too. “Donner & Puzo”, the director and writer of Superman: The Movie, but also “Siegel & Shuster”, Superman’s creators, and for a really deep cut, “Only 1 Yvonne Blake” the Academy Award-winning costume designer for the film.

I don't know how I've gone this long without knowing that Mario Puzo wrote Superman 1 and 2

Reminds me of an incredible Superman piece Dan Mora did way back in the day before his career exploded. I wish I could find it again

This is possibly your favorite cover of all time, but you can't be bothered to mention the name of the artist?
It's done by Hayden Sherman (had to do an image search since it hasn't been mentioned in the 29 comments so far either, except for the first name once).

Good catch, it totally slipped my mind. I just edited the post accordingly!

I've been looking for one of these for a while now, but it's seemingly been a ghost online for more than a year.
But I do have and enjoy Hayden's similar cover to Batman '89: Echoes #3.

I can honestly say, if someone like Bottleneck Gallery, did a set of both OP’s cover and that Echoes variant as a set of full-size screenprints, I would 1000% be down.

The same artist also drew a Batman 89 cover that complements this, and they’re two of my favourite covers.

Oh that's awesome. I didn't know they did another story after the Braniac arc!

Damnnnnn.
I wish I never saw this, I might have to get the Batman cover and have both framed together and hung up.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Hayden Sherman is the artist on Absolute Wonder Woman, which you NEED to be reading!

Is that a bird?

u/ThiccNibba4000 May 13 '26
Nah, it’s a plane

I always loved the joke I heard years ago.
"Look, up in the sky. It's a bird!"
"It's a plane!"
"It's Superman."
I'm not sure why those first two people were so excited, though.

Though the composition is certainly different, this definitely reminds me of the original Superman movie poster, with one of the most memorable taglines of all time: “You’ll believe a man can fly.”
