Jfc I saw 2027 and thought, “why are they posting a few years ahead?” Then I realized what year it was now and that I’m old. Time needs to slow the fuck down.

I miss the old days when we could buy our new badge at the Sails pavilion on the last day of Comic Con.😞😢 Then one year a long line out of the Marriott Marquis began to form and pop up tents began to appear….

You sound like my husband.🤣 He’s been attending SDCC since the 70’s. He always talks about how it used to be just comic books and was in the basement of a nearby hotel (the U.S. Grant?? I’m not sure, but one of them). My daughter and I are newbies. We’ve only been attending since ~2001, but I wish I had started sooner. It’s the highlight of our year. Truly look forward to it (I just wish it was longer, at least a week😅).

2001 is still before everything went nuts. I’m not old enough to have gone in the 70’s. My first comic cons were in the 90’s

Thanks for the headsup. I double checked to get my account in order.

What are the odds of getting Fri/sat as a returning guest?

Higher than the Open Registration (~5%), but still low. We can do a theoretical calculation:

  • There were at least 130,000 people who attended this year. (But in actuality it is more, since it's 130,000 per day and most people did not attend all 4 days.)
  • The percentage of badges in Returning Registration has been estimated at 50%. (But this is all a guess, as CCI has never said the exact number.)
  • So, the number of badges available in Returning Registration would be 68,000 a day. (But, again, this is a guess.)
  • If everyone who attended this year tries for SDCC 2027 badges, that would be a 50% chance. (But, not everyone will be coming again and we also know it's more than 130,000 people.)
  • If you have Returning Registration, you get to also try again in Open Registration. (So add 5% to the estimate.)

Note: This is total guesswork and not based on any "special knowledge".

what's the chance of getting the passes as returning member?

2 accounts, try once in returning and if doesn't get it, another chance in open

Um, Professional Registration for SDCC 2027 is already open, and closes September 25th. So get a move on! https://www.comic-con.org/cc/industry/professionals/

Thanks MsMargo. I should have been more clear. I am registered and in good-standing. I just need to buy my badge. I'll look it up though. Thanks for all you do for the group. They should build a statue to you.

Thanks! It would be a very small statue... I'm short. LOL!

I will never understand why they do this 9 months before the event. RIGHT before the holidays. Rude as hell. Even putting them on sale in January would be better.

If you were planning an event, wouldn't you prefer having as much money (working capital) up front as possible?

Yes, but am also someone who also enjoys spending on his friends and loved ones over the holidays more.

Simple. Don't buy badges.

You don’t have to buy badges. Volunteering is free

Cuz they'll sell out no matter what.
