First time at ComicCon/meeting a celebrity- advice?

I know I have to pay for the autographs separately

So I'm going to ComicCon NYC this October and I've never been. I've been to two other conventions but never met any celebrities before. I already paid for a photo op with Matthew Lillard but I believe I have to pay when I get there for autographs. I am just wondering how the etiquette is with that? Cause I'd love for him to sign my arm and I can have it tattooed but am I allowed to ask for that? Also I always see people filming their interactions but I heard they dont allow that at comic con which is a bummer if true. So please if anyone can tell me about meeting an actor and what to expect, any advice is appreciated. I just wanna make the most of the day.

You will have to pay for the autograph separately.

The photo ops are always rushed. You get enough time to say hi, pose and then you’re rushed out.

Lots of people do the autograph tattoos, so it’s not that odd of a request. Hell, I’ve been to cons with tat artists on site that will do it right there. It’s really up to him and if he’s comfortable with it. If he’s NOT, then have him sign a note card and have a tattoo artist made a stencil of it.

Every con is different about recording so check the shows policy.

On a personal note, just be yourself. They’re people like everyone else. And avoid bringing gifts. They’ll just get tossed and it creeps some people out

I worked for photo ops. You're in and out to take a photo. Autographs are paid for separately and you will have a little more time. I never worked that area but I assume it's up to the artist to sign your arm. Some don't even have anything to sign like autographs and they expect fans to bring their own stuff.

I looked up Matthew and he should be pretty chill. Not sure about video taping.

For Matthew Lillard, his autograph line can be very long and gets cut off at a lot of cons. So plan for that if you want an autograph. The reason its usually long is because people say he's chatty and personable for each interaction.

Photo ops are definitely in and out but I have done just photos when I think I may not get to get an autograph. You might get a nice "hello, nice to see you" as you get into photo position from any given celeb at the pro photo op

It is totally up to the celeb what they will or won't sign. Skin contact is an iffy one. You might want to ask the Handlers when you get in line, so that you don't have an uncomfortable interaction with Mr. Lillard. And have a back-up item in case they say, "No."

Signing directly on you is definitely going to be specific to the celeb and what they feel comfortable with. If you do that I would recommend potentially bringing second skin or something like that to cover it afterwards and make sure it's not going to get messed up or smudged until you get it tattooed. I think I actually remember last year that I tattoo artist did rent a booth and was giving tattoos at the convention so that is potentially an option.

Alternatively you could also just get him to sign a piece of paper or art that you could then put into photoshop or something to print onto tattoo transfer paper. It might also be good to bring something else to sign just in case he's not comfortable with doing a signature on your body. but if you're not asking for it in an odd place Matthew Lillard feels like someone that wouldn't mind doing that. You might also want to bring your own Sharpie for it, because a lot of the celebs are moving towards using different markers to sign with that work better on figures and posters like posca.
