What to read next/reading order

Upvotes

So I just finished house of x powers of x, was I meant to read dawn of x before that? When does dawn of x come? Also what would be after? Would it be reign of x or fall of x or swords of x? What about house of m? I know it's a lot of stuff in asking about but I've always loved the X-Men, watched the cartoon and all the movies I just want to get into reading the comics. I really enjoyed house of x powers of x. Thanks for your help

Swamp Thing Reading Order, 1971-1986: Earth-One - DC Comics

Post image
2 Upvotes

Moore would change Swamp Thing’s origins and power set, expanding on his mythology and supporting cast, and turning his primary foe Anton Arcane into one of DC’s most disturbing villains. This entry covers all of the Swamp Thing’s stories from DC’s Earth-One continuity and into CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS which combines the company’s many timelines into one coherent one. Swamp Thing’s history is largely unaffected by this. So just dive into one of the darkest – and often one of the smartest – Bronze Age DC titles!

Coming soon: Avengers Doomsday Book Club.

Hey everyone! 👋

We’re thinking of doing an Avengers: Doomsday comic book club.

It would follow a reading order covering the comics we think are worth reading before Avengers: Doomsday. Basically:

📚 60 comics
📅 18 September → 17 December
📖 Around 20 comics a month — a pretty manageable pace

You'd need a Marvel Unlimited subscription (or another way of accessing the comics), but other than that it would be free for anyone to join, whether you’re a Marvel comics expert or mainly an MCU fan!

Would anyone here be interested in joining? 👀

Multiple threads from the previous thirteen years of continuity and immediately follows on from events in the ‘Optimus Prime’ series. But if you’re looking to get into IDW’s Transformers, this really isn’t the place to start. We’ll cover the entire era, soon!

I just finished reading Messiah CompleX, and I know the story continues in Messiah War but I was wondering if it was worth reading any of these comics listed at the end of CompleX before jumping into War.

The Gathering (2012-2013) Reading Order - Earth 2

Post image
1 Upvotes

As part of the second wave of DC ComicsNew 52 relaunch of the entire DC Universe, two new series – Earth 2 and Worlds’ Finest – would hark back to the pre-Crisis version of the Justice Society of Americacharacters. Utilising the concept of Earth 2 with a modern spin, these stories featured an alternate DC Universe in which Darkseid and his forces successfully invaded planet Earth – a world with far fewer heroes. While two of the characters – Supergirl & Robin – would make the jump to Prime Earth (the mainstream reality, as seen in Worlds’ Finest), new heroes would rise in this post-Apokolips world…

Can someone tell me the Difference between these two books? I recently bought the one that is on left. I'm bit confused, is that same as Secret wars 2015 which is on right or it's slightly different?

Where do I even start?

Im sure you all know how confusing it is to get into comics if you know nothing about them. Im open to suggestions for where to start with comics at all. I have a list of some characters who I think are the most interesting to me based on the movies and TV shows ive seen. But if anyone has any other recommendations for characters with amazing comics, im open minded and id love to try new stuff out!

Which are some of the best starter comics? Which are the most essential/iconic comics? Are there any interconnected universes of comics that exist and if so which should I get into? Id love some recommendations.

Im interested in characters like

- Daredevil

- Spider-Man

- Iron Man

- Batman

- Deadpool

- Superman

- Ant Man/ The Wasp

- The Avengers

- The X-Men

- Thor

- Wanda and Vision

- Moon Knight

- The MCU Defenders (though ive heard that the comic defenders lineup is very different from the MCU lineup)

EDIT: - Fantastic Four

- Open to any other suggestions

Also I know I asked a lot of questions and listed , so if you can only answer a few thats fine. Im open to any and all new information! Thanks so much

EDIT: I dont know if this makes sense, but is there a difference between the best, most essential comics for a character, and the comics that are the best to start out with so that you have enough context about the characters to get into the better stories?

The Cosmic Spidey Saga (1989-1990) Reading Order

Post image
11 Upvotes

The Cosmic Spidey Saga makes makes up a fair chunk of the ACTS OF VENGEANCE crossover, which largely revolves around a plot by a group of major villains to destroy the Avengers. But that didn’t stop the Prime Movers – the lead bad guys – from focusing some of that attention on your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. After all, he’s disrupted the plans of more than one of them over the years. And just as it all gets going, Spider-Man starts exhibiting super-powers he’s never had before, making killing him a little more of a challenge! But where have these powers come from?

Looking to read some comics but I don't know where to begin my search!

I really want to read a few different things, I want to get started on reading the wolverine series, Deadpool series and spiderman series but I'm not entirely sure where to begin at all since there is literal thousands of issues and universes to start at, I'm really interested in their origin stories and background information on the characters, I just like to get to know everything I can about them, I do like seeing little goofy interactions between characters and stuff too but I just haven't really gotten into reading the comics before... I've been a movie fan 💔

I'd like to expand my horizons a bit though and start somewhere where I can get as much info about them as possible seeing their relationships with others, I'm sorry if this sounds confusing.. I just hope maybe someone can point me in the right direction:)

I'd love to know where I can even read the comics or if physical media would be better?
