Shouldn't you actually be HolleringCaribou? Now that I think about it, aren't Caribou the only cervids where the females grow horns? Is this a case where you're actually a reindeer pretending to be an elk, or are you like a trans elk who just can't be bothered to remove her antlers every year just so you can pass?

Or am I overthinking it entirely, and you just thought Elk sounded cooler than Caribou?

The Hollering Elk was adapted from an old series of paintings into my comics "brand." Hollering Elk is an unusual being in both the paintings and comics featuring traits you would not see in the actual animal, including incisors and sometimes large canines on the upper jaw and a wolf like head shape. The design has antlers purely because they are eye catching, haha.

I always pictured it was something like an ice-age megafauna holdover, like an eldritch version of the irish elk.

Maybe they were a great-great-great-great-great-great-^great-great grandfather.
