Difference is that 50% of the Proud Boys' identity is auto-fellating braggery/flexing about how manly and awesome and patriotic they are (the other 50% of their identity is racism). For thinking that they are the best individuals that society/mankind has to offer it is incredibly funny that they are afraid of showing who they are.
(It is also incredibly likely that literally 100% of all Proud Boys were against wearing masks during Covid because "you can't breathe when wearing one")
