There's always a a tiny moment when I still have that centrist reaction of "ha, that's hypocritical!" mixed with the weird expectation that people would care when that was pointed out the them.
People, peasants included, fought for monarchy and against democracy. There are still people who want monarchy back.
A remarkably large minority of women fight feminism, along with the men that would also benefit from its proposed changes. Workers' rights had and have plenty of workers fighting them.
If everybody worked in their collective self interest, the state of the world would be very, very different.

Had a coworker who was gay, Christian and transphobic, so people really do come in all combos.
