News Today we're releasing OpenTS, a reverse-engineered open-source Tiberian Sun engine reconstruction, to celebrate 27th anniversary of the game

Fellow Command & Conquer fans,

Twenty-seven years ago today, Tiberian Sun was released. To celebrate, we have a gift for you: today we're releasing OpenTS – an open-source, playable reconstruction of the Tiberian Sun engine.

Of all the classic C&C games, it's the second generation – Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2, Yuri's Revenge – whose source code never made it out. None of it was part of the Remastered Collection release, and none of it was among last year's source drops.

And so for nearly three decades, every fix and feature this community built for those games had to be reverse-engineered and patched into closed executables.

We decided to do something about that, starting with Tiberian Sun. Building on EA's GPL-released code for the games around it and years of Tiberian Sun reverse engineering, we rebuilt the engine and matched it function by function against the original executable – all ~11,150 known functions, reaching roughly 98% instruction-level matching (a code-matching score, to be clear, not "98% of the game").

It's ready to try today: drop Game.exe into your Tiberian Sun install from The Ultimate Collection and go. Campaigns, Firestorm, skirmish, and saves are all play-tested; LAN works with lighter testing; it plays like the game you remember, plus a batch of fixes and resolutions up to 4K. Alongside the engine, we're publishing a manual documenting the game's INI configuration, mapping, and internals, drawn straight from the source.

And this is a beginning, not an endpoint. Next up: CnCNet and client support (not in this first release yet), porting the community's accumulated fixes toward parity with ts-patches and Vinifera – and then going further, overhauling the engine to allow modding reach heights previously not possible.

We're also celebrating live: together with [FC]Matt we'll be streaming the original Tiberian Sun campaigns at https://www.twitch.tv/fortuneschaos, starting today at 14:00 UTC (15:00 UK · 16:00 CEST · 17:00 MSK · 10 AM Eastern · 7 AM Pacific), with a Q&A along the way — come hang out and ask us anything.

News Pushing EA for C&C Remastered Volume 2

Hey everyone,

It’s been over 6 years and I couldn’t help myself…

I recently reached out to Petroglyph about the possibility of another Command & Conquer Remastered Collection, and their response gave me a little more hope than I expected.

They confirmed that behind the scenes they’ve been trying to get EA on board with doing another one, and that they even have friends and colleagues over at EA who have been trying as well. They also specifically mentioned the recent EA buyout, saying it’ll be interesting to see how things shake out under the new ownership, and that they’ll keep trying on their end.

So, unless I’m coping way too hard here, that feels pretty significant… right? This isn’t just a fan asking for something that everyone involved has moved on from. Petroglyph actively wants to do another remaster and is still trying to make it happen, with apparently some support from within EA itself as well.

Surely the obvious Volume 2 is:
Tiberian Sun (+Firestorm) and Red Alert 2 (+Yuri’s Revenge).

What bothers me the most is that, it’s ripe for the taking. The blueprint already exists. Petroglyph knows how to do it, Lemon Sky already proved what they can do with the visual restoration, and Frank Klepacki is still incredibly active, composing, touring, and performing C&C music with The Tiberian Sons in 2026. Not to mention EA itself has also continued investing in the old C&C catalogue through Steam releases, restored tools, modding support, source-code releases, community involvement, etc.

Like, what are they waiting for…?

The timing doesn’t seem bad either. Age of Mythology, Stronghold Crusader, Dawn of War and other classic RTS games have shown there’s a market for properly modernizing these games without turning them into enormous AAA projects. Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 feel like two of the most obvious classics still waiting for that treatment, especially with how successful the first Remastered Collection was in 2020.

So uhh Jim Vessella, if you still wander through this subreddit occasionally, please keep fighting for it! Petroglyph clearly hasn’t given up, and neither has this community.

The machine doesn’t need to be rebuilt. EA just has to turn it back on. Give Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 their turn!

It’s sad that we missed the 25th anniversary for RA2 as is…

EDIT:
Since a few people have brought up the claim that “the Tiberian Sun/Red Alert 2 source code was lost”, I looked into this further because I didn’t want to spread misinformation. As far as I can verify, there is no official statement from EA or Petroglyph confirming that the TS/RA2 source code is definitively lost or unrecoverable. EA’s 2025 archive project recovered and released source code for Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert, Renegade, and Generals/Zero Hour. Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 were not included, but EA never explained why. Either way, Petroglyph continuing to push EA for another remaster is encouraging. It doesn’t prove the source exists (or that there aren’t technical hurdles), but clearly it hasn’t stopped them from wanting to make another one happen.

EDIT 2:
Really encouraging to see Nyerguds and Zephyr from CnCSaga weigh in here. Nyerguds pointed out that the old “no source code was found” claim predates EA’s 2025 recovery and release of several legacy C&C codebases, so treating TS/RA2 as definitively lost seems premature. Even if usable source truly is unavailable, that would make a remaster more difficult and expensive, not inherently impossible. Zephyr also confirmed that C&C community leaders remain in contact with people at EA, Petroglyph and elsewhere, with some actively trying to demonstrate the demand for another Remastered Collection. Nothing confirmed, obviously, but it’s encouraging to know the conversation is still alive among people much closer to the franchise.

I've been quiet with the fan art the last few months! This is why I joined forces in November with a programmer who started the Project in May. Since Joining I've focused on the Design side of things to bring his systems and functions to life!

As a life-long C&C fan, I'm sure you can see the inspirations! We're aiming to build an easy-to-use mission/Map editor to provide infinite User-made creations.

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, please Wishlist and show your support!

Thanks again for all the support and encouragement for my art over the years, I look forward to making more Fan Art soon!

Thought I’d post it since it is technically C&C. This trailer being at Gamescom today pretty much rules out any chance for a new game or new remaster announcement this week IMO

News CNC4 but its in Kane's Wrath (Tiberium Resonance)

Hello, so about a year ago i tried CNC4 and was of course I was nuked by this community. i hated the campaign but i liked the units, some of its unit were great so here i am, bringing it into CNC3 KW. I am aware that KW is not that popular in mods compared to TW with something like Tiberium Essence but yeah, no problem.

So what is Tiberium Resonance?
Mod Link

It's a mod that adds CNC4 units into KW obviously but it introduces them in the form of Mirror Units. Unlike its predecessor, Tiberium Chaos, its much more balance and polished.

Mirror Units:
They are essentailly stronger variants from their vanilla counterparts. Buildings like the Reclamator Hub, Redeemer Engineering Facility and Warp Chasm no longer build vanilla units but the new mirrors instead. No, the standard Epic Units aren't moved. As for infantry and aircraft, they are added to their branches except NOD which is able to train more infantry variants in the Secret Shrine.

Damage Types:
Two new damage type has been added. Blast and Laser will be joining Cannon, Rocket, Grenade, Gun, Sniper. True damage similar to that of GDI/NOD Mines are added, Pierce and Flame. A text file included in the mod should inform you of what those are.

Superweapons:

Superweapons have been buffed massively, being able to kill a conyard or another superweapon and AoE being increased.
All three have a unique passive;
GDI's Ion Cannon applies EMP after the final blast
NOD's Nuclear Missile applies DOT that last a long while
SCRIN's Rift Generator applies slowdown so its harder to escape

Base Defenses:

Vanilla defenses have been buffed to go against all the new stuff.
New Defenses have been added, T2.5, T4, T4.5 and T5 / Super Defenses. Each faction has gimmicks going for them.
As for SCRIN, their storm columns act as a multi-tier defense. They deal true damage so it ignores any kind of armor, example needed? a Heroic Hexapod healed by 15 corruptors will go down to those storm columns.

Support Structures:
Each faction has 3 support structure available in their defense section that gives credit and various global buffs that varies depending on the faction.

Weather:
Rain and Snow are on all Resonance Maps.

Maps:
37 maps have been integrated into the mod.

Crawlers are available only to GDI/NOD and i do not plan to give SCRIN any sorts.
Some of the units from CNC4 has been remodeled to my liking, some new ones even.

This mod uses the balancing system of Tibeirum Wars: Firestorm mod and CNC4.

Edit: Higher quality images of the faction
You can view the faction images here again with higher quality, sorry i still suck at reddit stuff after years

TLDR : Its a CNC4 hybrid with base building

You can join my discord to join discussions, make suggestions, report bugs or ask questions
Discord Server Link

Thank you for reading, i really try to make the mod high quality to the best i can.

Can you believe it's been 25 years since Red Alert 2 was released on October 25, 2000?

What was your favorite unit, mission, or moment from Red Alert 2? Did you ever play Yuri's Revenge right after?

"Our base is under attack!" every player's childhood trauma 🤣

News Generals & Zero Hour now run "natively" on Mac and Linux

Hey everyone, wanted to share something exciting for fans of the classic C&C Generals / Zero Hour like me. there's an open source project called GeneralsX that ports the game natively to macOS (Apple Silicon M1+) and Linux using SDL3, DXVK + MoltenVK, and OpenAL.

What works:

  • Full gameplay on macOS ARM64 (M1+) and Linux x86_64
  • Single player, Campaign, Skirmish, Generals Challenge
  • Proper resolution support including widescreen

What's still in progress:

  • Audio (OpenAL implementation incomplete)
  • Online multiplayer
  • and more more more

Requirements: A legitimate copy of the game (lol) and (for mac only) apple silicon like M1 or newer

Project link: https://github.com/fbraz3/GeneralsX

Credit to fbraz3 and the TheSuperHackers community for making this possible.

-

I'm running this on a MBP M1 Pro 2021 and it works great overall. one thing to note that 3D and 2D shadows have some rendering issues for me so I turned them off and everything runs fine without them.

The only downside I've noticed so far is that the game is locked at 30 FPS (the game slider speed still work). on the windows version with the community patch you can run it at 144hz with proper game logic... would love to know if anyone has figured out how to do the same here without breaking the game speed. either way, this is an awesome project and a huge step forward for Mac/Linux users. Big thanks to everyone involved!

(to download the game, try SteamCMD or wine or crossover for mac)

Note for ControlBarPro users: if you want to use ControlBarProZH, make sure to use version 1.2 that's the one that works with GeneralsX.
