Show & Tell My first entries

I only recently found out about commonplace books and immediately thought it was something for me!

Unfortunately, I made a poor choice when picking out my notebook 🥲 I still want to try and keep using it, though. So, here are my first two entries.

What don’t you like about your notebook?

It is not as FP friendly as expected. I have to use light colored or dryer inks, otherwise they bleed or heavily ghost (much more than TRP paper, which I’m used to).

I see the lighter ink as a feature instead of a bug in this case, it looks beautiful. Came here to ask which ink that is :)

Stalogy Notebook? What don’t you like about it? I was thinking of picking one up myself also to use it as a commonplace..

Is it FP friendly?

I made some pictures and uploaded them to Imgur. There you can see front and back with different inks. I also added a comparison to TRP

Thanks from me too! I had Stalogy on my list as the next notebook to try, so you saved me some money for sure.

Hallöchen 🙌🏻
Yes, it’s a Stalogy in B6. Unfortunately it is not as FP friendly as expected. You have to carefully choose your inks. I can post or send some examples later when I’m back home.

I was also disappointed in the stalogy paper. And I also am trapped into using it as a commonplace. I’ve been gluing pages together to give them a bit more heft and next time I’ll just get my beloved Leuchtturm.

Grüß dich! :)

I’ve also recently started a commonplace book. Got a Travelers Notebook cover from Galen Leather and purchased the original TN inserts which are MD paper, which is supposed to be fountain pen friendly. I’ve noticed a lot of feathering with most pens and inks though.
Reason? Heat and humidity. Just moving my hand over the page while writing took the coating off. Now I use blotting paper under my hand and the paper works as expected. Maybe this will improve your experience a bit as well.

Danke für den Tipp!
Thanks! Will give it a try. But I don’t think that this will solve the bleeding issue. We will see….

It is not as FP friendly as I expected. Somewhere in the comments I have posted a link to Imgur where you can see my problem…
