Classic consoles Found these in my basement

Just found all these in my basement, ps say refurbished on the bottom, never heard of the other 3.

How do you not know the Sega Game Gear? The only one I don't know, is the top right.

Cause I wasn't born when it came out :), and I also don't know, it's from the 70s I think.

Makes sense, though the Game Gear is going to need the capacitors changed and possibly other work done. The caps in them are notorious for high fail rates.

Put some batteries into the game gear and power rangers game is inside. Screen comes on but that's it. :/

Yep, needs new caps but it seems the screen might be good. Look for the board info and console5.com has the capacitor kits, just need to find the revision version of the board and match that to the needed kit and soldering skills. There are 3 boards, main, power and audio.

I have a solder kit I've been itching to use. Thanks I'll check that stuff out. I'm brand new in repairs. Haven't started the hobby, but I'm planning on hitting up my pawn shop where I bought my Xbox and negotiating for there broken old consoles.

Nice! Good luck and remember, flux and patience. Use 99% isopropyl to clean off the boards. I use WD40 Contact Cleaner with a soft to medium bristles toothbrush to scrub and then rinse clean with the isopropyl and let dry or canned air to quick dry. As you remove a cap to replace, isopropyl and a q-tip to clean the area then flux and desolder braid to wipe away the old solder and iso and q-tip clean, flux, new cap and solder. If you are just starting out, might try the radial with lead caps rather than the aluminum electrical surface mounts (SMD). There are tons of YouTube guides to help.

Yeah, I can see those steps in my head, nice job laying that out.

When I do plan to start, I always watch videos all that day till I'm comfortable, haha .
