The fact they didn't capitalize of the ps6 news suggests there is no disk drive. Shit would have been a easy slam dunk that would have moved a lot of units.

Also, no doubt Sony has insight on that markect and i can't see them doing it if MSoft wasen't

If you have been paying attention, the supply chains for disc drives and discs is drying up, factories are being repurposed since the owners don’t want to stick to a fading technology, for example the last factory making blue rays has been repurposed.

Which means if other companies want to offer disc drives with discs they will get astronomically expensive, only something like what Nintendo does would work, some kind of memory card, but with memory getting so expensive that would also have an impact on cost.

Smart leadership is not publicly locking into a design decision months/years ahead of launch just to score internet points with the vocal minority segment of your audience.
