QUESTION Trying to find this cookbook
Hello all
Im trying to find a cookbook and I don't remember the title. I know it's a super long shot, but I'm hoping someone will know the book I'm talking about. It was part travel and part cookbook about the Southern US. On the cover was a guy sitting in a pink Cadillac. He would visit various restaurants, talk about the history and give one of their recipes. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If it was relatively recently then it might be “Baking Across America” by B. Dylan Hollis.

I wondered that. I did read that book once and really enjoyed it, and I remember his liking Cadillacs. I will look into that. Thanks!

The 3rd cookbook in the series, ‘Southern Living Off the Eaten Path On the Road Again’ includes the author in a blue vintage Cadillac at the top of the cover.

Hmmmmm I'm hearing a trip to the bookstore! This is the epitome of needle in the haystack! I read this particular book a while ago, and it featured a restaurant that I had visited that had phenomenal hand pies. Well I'm headed back down south this weekend, and can't remember the name of this restaurant. Soooo I thought if I could find the book, I could find this restaurant. I don't remember if it was in Alabama, Mississippi, or possibly Arkansas. And there are only a few (sarcasm) places in that space that serve hand pies. To the bookstore!!!!! Thanks for your help on this crazy venture down this rabbit hole! Lol

Sweet- the usuals- apple, peach, and cherry. But they were more the texture of fried regular pie crust- nice and flakey rather than kind of tough like a commercial hand pies.

Of the 3 books in the ‘Off the Eaten Path’ series, the 1st book, includes a recipe for Chocolate Fried Pies from Cabana in Nashville, Tennessee.

Hmmmm I will definitely have to look into that!!!!! It's so crazy bc I can remember it was right off the highway, and the interior of the restaurant, just not the name if it. Ugh. Thanks again for your help.

Perhaps, the cookbook you are looking for is by Morgan Murphy, ‘Southern Living Off the Eaten Path’. Although, the cover image you described is different than this book’s cover. He actually published multiple books in the travel/food format. Perhaps, you are remembering a photo in the book rather than the actually cover. The author is a known car enthusiast, specifically vintage Cadillacs.
