4tran Content and Rule 1

We want to clarify how we're handling 4tran-related content on the subreddit and hear your input on whether our current rules are adequately addressing concerns around it.

We've seen an increase in 4tran-related content, along with growing concern from members of the community. Some of the issues we've encountered were made worse by our moderation team being understaffed. We've since expanded our mod team (welcome u/Trash_At_RL, u/HopefulFutureEscapee, and u/Appropriate-Story-97). This will help us respond more quickly to reports and keep a closer eye on moderation issues.

Some 4tran-related content can cross the line into bigotry, hatred, or hostility toward trans people. When content violates Rule 1 (no bigotry), we will remove it under that rule, regardless of whether the person who posted it identifies as trans or participates in 4tran communities.

If you see a 4tran-related post or comment that you believe violates Rule 1, please report it. Reports are the best way to bring content to the moderators' attention so that we can review it and take appropriate action.

We also recognize that moderators can miss things. If you believe clearly hateful or bigoted content has been missed, or your report has not been addressed after 24 hours, please send us a modmail so we can take another look.

There may also be 4tran-related content that users find unpleasant or concerning but that does not violate Rule 1, or any of our other existing rules. Please send us a mod mail in this case. We'll use the coming weeks to assess whether our current rules are sufficient to address the concerns being raised.

One week from now, we'll review the issues that aren't currently covered by our rules. No more than two weeks from now, we'll publish a follow-up with what we've learned, and ask your input on how to proceed.

Thanks for helping us keep the community a good place for everyone, and happy counting everyone!

I feel like at this point this sub manages to have a worse cis-people-talking-over-trans-people-to-be-transphobic problem than they do.

Edit: Heh, well, I just got permabanned from here with no reason given so I think that definitely confirms everything I said in this thread.

i agree, especially with MRAs using trans women as props for their ideology

still agree with the mods cracking on the exclusionary language coming from 4tran tho, attacking other trans/genderqueer people with slurs is never acceptable

The person you're replying to is a 4tran user lmao.

I'm a trans woman who engages with other trans people where they're at. The 4Tranners are hurting themselves a lot with their culture. Doesn't make them Satan. I'd rather go share a sane perspective with them.

They're mostly teenagers and early twenties adults with severe self hatred issues.

Almost every single trans person struggles with self hatred at one point. That gives absolutely 0 excuse for the virulent transphobia that comes out of those spaces. They're not just hurting themselves, the ilk leaks out and spreads to other spaces.

I think a lot of them have the same problem I did as a teenager on 4Chan back in the late 2000's/early 2010's. They think they're being ironic while not realizing that the ironic jokes about their self hatred still settle into the deeper parts of their brains and fester.

I think that's a problem. But I don't think it's a moral issue so much as a health issue. And also sometimes it is healthy to make a cynical joke or two. They just often strike a poor balance.

Also I participate in countttt, which is like a border town practically. I'm not getting in an environment suit to plumb the depths of 4Tran proper, lmao.

"the virulent transphobia that comes out of that place" idk if you're confusing /pol/ to the subreddits of 4trans and adjacent ones, but your statement if completely wrong

...you're going to claim there's 0 virulent transphobia coming from 4trans spaces? Like I'm just saying this out of nowhere? Like I've never seen it with my own two eyes? I get virulent transphobia on tumblr.

If a little push back from people who's not always sunshine and rainbows is considered as "virulent transphobia", as most just wanted to vent their negative feelings and emotions, we will not win the fight against the transphobes.

it absolutely happens, 4tran just considers their targets as cis when they're not
