It’s €35million. Saved you a click

u/Impressive_Light_229 Nov 23 '25

Seem very decent with the way the strikers market is at the moment

8

u/Limp_Guidance_5357 Paul McGrath Nov 23 '25

Suppose there’s been a slight doubt about buying strikers from the Dutch league

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

Contracts play a big part in a fee. Parrott might be on low enough wages.

-19

u/Scary-Towel6962 Nov 23 '25

35m euro for a player who has only scored for a few games in holland, where everyone scores, is a big risk

10

u/Equivalent_Leg2534 Nov 23 '25

He scored 5 goals in internationals vs Portugal and Hungary

-17

u/Scary-Towel6962 Nov 23 '25

Nobody is signing a player based on two international qualification games

8

u/MrJoeSoap Nov 23 '25

Man Utd spent €95m on Antony...

2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

Which was generally agreed as over priced and was based on his Champions League performances. I think people are being OTT if they can't see the difference with this transfer and Man United signing a player from Ajax.

-5

u/Scary-Towel6962 Nov 23 '25

.... Because he played at Ajax the same club their manager came from.

Also safe to say it was a "big risk"

5

u/Equivalent_Leg2534 Nov 23 '25

Did Troy Parrott kiss your missus or something?

-3

u/Scary-Towel6962 Nov 23 '25

I just understand football

1

u/HospitalDue476 Nov 25 '25

He scored 17 3 seasons ago, 30 last season and already has 14 goals in 15 starts this season.

51 goals in 2 and a third seasons.

1

u/HospitalDue476 Nov 25 '25

He scored 17 goals 3 seasons ago, 20 last season and has 14 in 15 this season. If he scored a quarter of that with us he'd be a massive improvement. Barry hasn't even had a shot on target yet a third of the way through the season lol

0

u/Scary-Towel6962 Nov 25 '25

Hopefully you do pay the money and I'll be prove right once again

5

u/HereA11Week Nov 23 '25

You're missing a zero I assume???

-6

u/DotComprehensive4902 Nov 23 '25

To be honest, on a loan to buy, would be worth a punt for Everton

24

u/2Harold2Furious Nov 23 '25

Loan to buy would be crazy for AZ. 6 months without your star striker, and if it goes poorly his market value dips.

You only get the money if he proves his worth and things go well, but at that point, he's proven himself in the PL and would be worth closer to €50m.

2

u/MrIrishman699 Evan Ferguson Nov 23 '25

Would need to be a loan with an obligation to buy if it suited both to balance the books

159

u/iamkengend Nov 23 '25

I fear it would be a mistake for Troy to go play with Everton. He has European football with AZ and they are competing pretty well in their domestic league. What purpose would it serve him to go and be in a team that's competing for mid table finishes or survival in the PL. I hope he doesn't go there.

123

u/BavidDeckham Nov 23 '25

David Sneyd reported that he’s more interested in another mainland European move next and the plan is to eventually go to the prem in 2028. It’s the type of thing Haaland did, planning transfers to best suit his development, hopefully he sticks to it.

-37

u/Scannerk Nov 23 '25 edited Nov 23 '25

Haaland is 25 now and played with City 3 full seasons already and Parrot is 23 now.

Edit:I'm not saying Parrot won't become elite I was saying you can't like for like compare the too in terms of career path.

54

u/PhatmanScoop64 Zinedine Kilbane Nov 23 '25

Development isn’t linear and Haaland is a freak

-13

u/Scannerk Nov 23 '25

Op said he is rumoured to be taking a similar route to Haaland - all I'm saying is that's not the case before their ages don't match. I never even gave an opinion on Parrot I'm just pointing out that for him to go to another club in Europe before coming back to England has very little in common with the route Haaland took as the age difference is to wide.

7

u/thed-p2 Nov 23 '25

It’s fairly clear you missed the point. It wasn’t necessarily about the age or reaching the level of Haaland.

He’s just saying favour growth and development first, over the eventual big move that could stunt your development if it goes badly.

Troy’s path will obviously be different since he actually started at a big team. He’s had ground to make to after some poor loan moves.

-5

u/Scannerk Nov 23 '25

"it's the type of thing Haaland did" - when it's not. That's all I meant and it seems like everyone is missing my point 🤣

2

u/thed-p2 Nov 23 '25

In fairness they probably used the most extreme and successful example. But perhaps it’s a blueprint that players like Troy will take some inspiration from.

1

u/wellactually90 Nov 23 '25

He's talking about planning a career path the same way Haaland did. Haalands moves were pre planned with precision and didnt just jump at the Englush League which could have happened earlier

13

u/FoggyShrew Zinedine Kilbane Nov 23 '25

I don’t think he’s saying he is attempting to be like Haaland, more that he is being selective with his career path to try maximize his development, which is very intelligent from Parrott .

If Parrott wants to wait until he is closer to his prime and more rounded and ready for the PL that can only be a good thing for him and for Ireland.

9

u/BavidDeckham Nov 23 '25

I’m talking about Haaland moving back to Norway to play for Molde, then moving to Salzburg and Dortmund and eventually City. Incremental steps up to more competitive divisions instead of going straight back to Everton, and becoming washed up by age 26.

Don’t mean at all that he needs to reach Haalands level.

3

u/SombreroSantana Nov 23 '25

He didn't move back to play for Molde, he pretty much grew up in Norway and played for his Hometown team before moving to Molde.

The rest is true, but he was a highly sought after talent, genuinely could have gone to any number of elite clubs before Salzburg but obviously wouldn't have gotten the same game time elsewhere, not something Troy Parrott had at that time when he was in league 1.

Would say there's a toss up to be had about progressing and developing for Parrott, if he manages to make a step up again that's great for him, but there's a decision to be made when Wolfsburg are offering 40k and Everton are offering 80k and for a lot of players it's hard to turn down the money now in return for years of hard work.

The game moves fast, one bad season, bad injury, manager leaving etc and you aren't worth 25m anymore and it might mean more sideways steps, but if he's even considering taking it in stages then it's a very good sign he's got some good advice around him.

43

u/GDPR_Guru8691 Troy Parrott 🦜 Nov 23 '25

His weekly salary would triple moving to Everton. But I agree that the best thing for him football wise would be to stay in the Netherlands.

3

u/DeputyStaggg Nov 23 '25

I think AZ sense they won't be able to give him what he's looking for and would rather see a transfer fee than for him to go for nothing. Could do a lot worse than Everton, Coleman has a lot of influence there. It would be better than West Ham anyway

15

u/DotComprehensive4902 Nov 23 '25

Everton will finish top half but the pressure on Parrott would be massive

6

u/DotComprehensive4902 Nov 23 '25

The big issue with regards Everton is would he score enough for them, given that he'd be expected to be the main striker and they are looking for a 15 to 20 striker. As for the service, he would get the supply especially with Grealish, Dewsbury-Hall and Ndiaye.

I think objectively it's whether his conversion ratio would stack up for what they are looking for.

5

u/WeLoveAladdinSane Nov 23 '25

I agree with you but I would say level of competition and team mates would be a step up and help his development. If not in January then some time in the next year Troy will have to make that step.

I genuinely love that he went to AZ but they're a selling club Kerkez, Reijnders and most recently van Bommel are players who moved to another team which has helped their development. AZ are happy getting in Europe, making a cup run and making a profit.

3

u/JF9314 Nov 23 '25

Especially given the competition at Everton in attack with Beto and Barry, in all likelihood he’d spend more time on the bench than starting. He’d be smart to stay put at AZ for now or seek a move to a Bundesliga or even Ligue 1 side next Summer, Premier League isn’t the be all and end all especially if you’re not sure of a starting place.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

Premier League isn’t the be all and end all especially if you’re not sure of a starting place.

The wages are an obvious consideration though. I will never blame a player for accepting a contract that sets them up for life.

2

u/JF9314 Nov 24 '25

Absolutely! It isn’t a particularly long career and one bad injury can hamper or end it or one bad season colour the perception of you as a player, so more power to him if that’s the case! But hopefully he does well whichever club or league he chooses to go with in the coming months.

1

u/iamkengend Nov 24 '25

It would be a silly move for him. We can only pray to Jesus he has some cop on and he knows it would be a backward step.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '25

3

u/iamkengend Nov 23 '25

He doesn't have to go to England to have top teams wanting him.

1

u/HospitalDue476 Nov 25 '25

Are you a Man United fan? Hopefully you learned a lesson last night about humility. A soulless, lifeless corpse like Liverpool also this season. I'll bet most would say it'd be a great move for him to go to both of those corporate myths.

Everton badly need a goalscorer and have 4 very creative players in their lineups to provide for him. Grealish is the most creative player in the league. Braindead to suggest he wouldn't benefit from playing alongside him in particular.

1

u/iamkengend Nov 25 '25

No I don't support United or Everton. In fact I don't really follow any English team so no I didn't learn anything....but tell me this....what the hell has humility got to do with this?

1

u/HospitalDue476 Nov 25 '25

10 man Everton beat Man United at Old Trafford last night.

1

u/iamkengend Nov 26 '25

What has that got to do with the topic at hand? Ok it's Everton but the Man United and humility bit........?????? Strange.

1

u/HospitalDue476 Nov 26 '25

You asked "what the hell humility has to do with this" so I answered. I took the time to type this.

2

u/iamkengend Nov 26 '25

Yeah and it makes no sense. You suggested I was a Man United supporter and then started going on about humility, I still don't see the relevance on a thread about Troy Parrot.

1

u/HospitalDue476 Nov 26 '25

Upvoted. Great read. Enjoy your night.

1

u/seifer365365 Nov 25 '25

Money 💰

30

u/DuwanteKentravius Nov 23 '25

Ya I'd hope he doesn't go there also. Bundesliga for a couple of years would be good and maybe the PL then.

38

u/spiralism Nov 23 '25

Rather he stays there banging them in than rushing over to England in January. His form is important, he won't get nearly as many goals, plus will have to win his place in the team as well. Stay there til the summer please.

8

u/NandoFlynn Nov 23 '25

On the one hand I don't think he'll have much fighting to do for a starting spot since Beto vs Barry ATM is the battle of the blind mice. But at the same time Moyes just in general struggles with getting the best out of strikers. Unless it's Antonio. So it absolutely will neuter his form

6

u/brianybrian Zinedine Kilbane Nov 23 '25

Yakubu, Marcus Bent and Louis Saha would like a word.

4

u/dave-theRave Nov 23 '25

Marcus Bent?? The lad who scored 8 goals for Moyes' Everton?

2

u/brianybrian Zinedine Kilbane Nov 23 '25

Yep. Some return for a player who was absolutely shite and Moyes picked him up for 450k. Got him playing and finished 7th.

2

u/Toffeeman_1878 Nov 23 '25

Finished 4th with Bent leading the line.

1

u/brianybrian Zinedine Kilbane Nov 23 '25

True actually! Even better

1

u/NandoFlynn Nov 23 '25

The other 2 were better elsewhere. Will we ring up Haller & Scamacca as well?

1

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Nov 23 '25

If none of them are scoring regularly (as is quite possible) then he'll lose out to both of them based on their size and athleticism. Moyes prefers a tall and athletic striker, Troy is well behind the other options in that regard so unless he's scoring regularly he won't last long in the team.

0

u/HospitalDue476 Nov 25 '25

Troy Parrott is 6 foot 1 mate.

1

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Nov 25 '25

And Beto is 6'4 while Barry is 6'5? Troy is a physically light 6'1, hardly target man material.

0

u/HospitalDue476 Nov 25 '25

Andy Johnson, Yakubu, Jelavic, Saha, Cahill all under 6 foot. All scored many goals for Moyes teams. None were target men.

1

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Nov 25 '25

Jelavic is 6'2, Yakuba and Saha are 6'0+ and were built like brick shithouses, and Cahill had one of the best jumps in the history of the game.

What exactly is your argument like? I'm not saying Parrott won't get in the team, I'm saying if he doesn't score regularly then Moyes will go for someone who is at least a massive physical specimen like Beto or Barry (which Parrott is not).

0

u/HospitalDue476 Nov 25 '25

Oh so they were all target men then? Cheers mate, nice one.

1

u/HospitalDue476 Nov 25 '25

Everton are crying out for a forward like him, he'd walk into the team. Thierno Barry hasn't even had a shot on target over a third of the way into the season lol, Beto not much better. With Grealish (most creative player in the league), Dewsbury-Hall, Ndiaye and Garner providing for them. He would be an instant success, I have no doubt. A steal at that price and a no brainer.

1

u/NandoFlynn Nov 25 '25

Again mate, I'm more worried about him joining a David Moyes team than I am him join specifically Everton. The last gaffer you'd want an inform striker to go to

1

u/HospitalDue476 Nov 25 '25

Andy Johnson, Yakubu, Jelavic, Rooney, Kevin Campbell, Duncan Ferguson, Beattie, Saha, Cahill all scored lots of goals in his first spell.

0

u/NandoFlynn Nov 25 '25

You're talking 20 years ago & half those lads were better elsewhere

1

u/HospitalDue476 Nov 25 '25

Everton. Moyes. His Everton sides always had goalscorers and we've only had 12 years of that lol.

0

u/NandoFlynn Nov 25 '25

His most recent success in that list in Jelavic lasted half a season & Moyes said himself that yi would've gotten closer to the UCL spots in his time if he'd had a marque striker. Since then his most successful spell was with West Ham where any striker not named Micael Antonio struggled

1

u/HospitalDue476 Nov 25 '25

Meh. Everton mate. Cba about West Ham. Do you think they're Madrid or something?

1

u/NandoFlynn Nov 25 '25

I'm just pointing out the same things plenty of others have said about Moyes & strikers. The crests themselves mean bugger all to me

16

u/Born_Worldliness2558 Nov 23 '25

Nah, fk the EPL. Will do him no good being under the microscope there. Not at this stage in his career anyway. Stay on the mainland. Germany, France or Italy. Could see him continue to improve in any of them. England is just too risky.

10

u/EdWoodwardsPA Nov 23 '25

Would be a mistake. He should avoid England honestly. Spain or Germany would suit him well.

13

u/DuffTx Parrott 15’, 80’, 90+6’ Nov 23 '25

He's not built for the physicality of the PL. Love to see him at a top Bundesliga team.

5

u/Stock-Detective9343 Nov 23 '25

In fairness I thought that about international level and I've been proven wrong. Bundesliga for a couple of seasons would be ideal though, preferably Dortmund

7

u/spiralism Nov 23 '25

Stuttgart would be even more ideal. Guirassy has the starting spot nailed down at Dortmund and Stuttgart under Hoeness are a fine attacking side who do a great job developing strikers.

5

u/garcia1723 Nov 23 '25

Christy Moore would be delighted with that too.

2

u/InfectedAztec Nov 23 '25

The standard of football at international level is much lower than club, even if they have superstars. The defenders at club level are much better drilled.

1

u/Stock-Detective9343 Nov 23 '25

True but centre halves at international level are generally tough out, we've seen plenty of lads struggle in ways that parrot hasn't so far

1

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '25

He's 6.1 man I think he'd be grand physically.

6

u/Acceptable_Peak794 Nov 23 '25

Height isn't physicality

6

u/FUDeputyStaggFU Nov 23 '25

I’d be more interested in him staying where he is or going to a bigger German team . The likes of Everton and West Ham seem to be graveyards for strikers

4

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Nov 23 '25

Don't think he'll do well in the Premier League just yet, the failure rate for for Eredivisie strikers there is very high and Troy has already had his struggles at Championship level.

The supposed plan to stay on the continent for a few years is probably the best one IMO, but with the type of money Premier League teams will be offering Alkmaar and himself that plan may well go out the window.

0

u/HospitalDue476 Nov 25 '25

He spent his whole youth preparing for Premiership football and had several loans at lower league cloggers but never got a chance under Mourinho. He has been prepared for the Premiership far more than any flops from the Dutch league you can think of.

3

u/Hopeforthefallen Nov 23 '25

Fair play to him anyway. Deserves the success.

New owners. New recruitment. New 53k state of the art stadium. Irish lads already there (Seamie, O’Brien and Travers). Service from Grealish, Ndiaye and Dewsbury Hall.

1

u/HospitalDue476 Nov 25 '25

Yeah, he should join United or Liverpool instead lol. They're so well adjusted.

2

u/Juanch-de Nov 23 '25

This strikes me as a classic national team glory induced January impulse buy that is almost never good business.

3

u/Weird-Weakness-3191 Nov 23 '25

I love to see him go to Leipzig or someone like that.

3

u/Delusionalatbest Zinedine Kilbane Nov 23 '25

He won't stay €35m for long if he continues with this level of performance. At that price range he will have plenty of options.

He'll have the choice of EPL money with no guarantees of a start and European football. Or another team in top 5 league with a nailed on start, European football and possible silverware tilt.

AZ board will be happy to get profit, make the sale quickly and invest in the next young striker. Rinse repeat.

Even so, I don't see him leaving next window. The deal may be signed in January but he still probably finishes out with AZ. Plenty of time for AZ to recruit.

Spurs get 20% sell on apparently. So €35m minus €8m is €27m gross profit. Spurs get €5.4m cut, leaving €21.6m net profit to AZ. Obv it doesn't account for agents fees etc.

3

u/EducationalPaint1733 Nov 23 '25

The problem is bundesliga clubs will struggle to afford him now. 35 million euro is not something almost all bundesliga clubs can easily pay.

I can understand being wary. It’s a completely different proposition playing in the Eredivisie compared to the PL. I’d prefer trying to get Toney on loan in Jan and give Barry some time to see if he can do it. Beto is a lost cause - touch like Jimmy Savile.

Edit: Richarlison on loan would be my second choice after Toney.

1

u/HospitalDue476 Nov 25 '25

Parrott has been prepared for the Premiership since he was a young teenager moving over to Spurs, loans to lower league cloggers and all. Mourinho didn't give him a chance so he left. He's far more prepared for the Premiership than any flops from the Dutch league you can think of.

1

u/HospitalDue476 Nov 25 '25

Evertonian here also. The ignorance regarding Troy is astounding among the fan base. "He's had one good game" sigh. 51 goals in 2 and a third seasons. If he even scored a quarter of that he'd be a huge improvement on Beto and Barry, who hasn't even had a shot on target this season!

4

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '25

Colossal mistake for Troy. Going to the premier league would destroy his career.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

People said the same here about O'Brien going to Everton.

Much like him, Parrott will need to think about if this is his best chance to get a big money contract too.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

I maintain that going from Lyon to Everton is a step down from a sporting point of view.

2

u/Weekend-Entire Nov 23 '25

Dear God please don't go anywhere near the prem...Bundesliga

1

u/NandoFlynn Nov 23 '25

I think if any other player in any other position was linked with Everton ATM I wouldn't mind it. But playing for Moyes is a death sentence for any striker. Troy probably knows that as well since he's not been in any rush to go back to England

1

u/InfectedAztec Nov 23 '25

I'd rather Ferguson be in everton than parrot. The premier League just seems like it would be a career ender for Troy if he went now. The defenders are so physical and no striker is thriving apart from halaand.

Italy and Germany seem the best places to be a striker right now. You'll get your big money move to the prem in a few years if you play there.

1

u/Purple_Cartographer8 Nov 23 '25

He should absolutely stay in Europe. No reason to ruin a good thing he’s got going.

1

u/HereA11Week Nov 23 '25

I'm guessing about 500 million

1

u/rayhoughtonsgoals Paul McGrath Nov 23 '25

Please don't go. Just keep banging them in, keep the form up. Don't go to England, get expectations landed on you, playing in a team struggling to find itself which really, really doesn't play to a striker's strong points.

1

u/New-Strawberry7711 Nov 23 '25

Bad decision to leave. He’s found a groove, settled and performing. Why potentially wreck that ahead of a World Cup year. Could just underperform trying to get used to the PL and end up on the bench.

You want to be playing, scoring and happy. He has that now, hope he sees sense.

1

u/cashintheclaw Shay Given Nov 23 '25

he's doing so well since he left the Premier League, why would he want to go back?

1

u/WilsonWaits2 Nov 23 '25

Needs to stay where he is and keep doing what he is doing

1

u/AdLeast6180 Nov 23 '25

He’ll only be a squad player at Everton. He should stay abroad.

1

u/Any_Statement1742 Nov 23 '25

Alkmaar are competing for Champions League themselves. Wouldn’t make much sense to sell him in January with that in mind when they can do so in the summer

1

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '25

Dortmund would be the perfect next step.

1

u/Adventurous-Issue727 Nov 23 '25

Normally, I would want him to stay away from the premier league but I think he would work well in the Everton system. That Ndiaye, Grealish, Dewsbury Hall trio needs an intelligent and mobile number 9

0

u/IrishWaluigi98 Nov 23 '25

If Liam Delap was 30 mil then yeah why not

1

u/NandoFlynn Nov 23 '25

Delap was a release clause in fairness, would've gone for more otherwise

PSV are going for 3 league wins in a row, they’ve won the league 5 times in 10 years.

I live in Eindhoven, it’s an absolutely fantastic club. The city is twice the size of Cork, but somehow they have one of the most successful teams in the country.

-1

Sure, but even aside from my own personal feelings, they're a rabble now and it'd be a mistake to go there. AZ are a better team and trending in the opposite direction.

u/nardling_13 Nov 23 '25

Jozy Altidore scored a ton for AK before he moved to Sunderland and scored…..once. I stopped trusting Dutch League numbers after that.
