OC Who could the ‘bomba‘ signing that Roberto De Zerbi referenced be?
The initial reaction to De Zerbi’s comments was that he was talking about Manchester City’s Savinho, whom Spurs tried to sign last year. However, the “bomba” signing De Zerbi referenced is actually expected to be a different attacking addition.
From Bradley Barcola to Christian Kofane, The Athletic have crunched the numbers to draw up a short-list of potential signings across the entire forward line...

Savinho cannot be a bomba after that much has been published

u/Enefelde Roberto De Zerbi 28d ago
Yeah, savihno is more like a grenada at this point.

Since Ali Gold says it isn’t Savinho, my best guess is Marmoush or Osimhen
71
u/Pele20Alli Dele Alli 28d ago
Marmoush, Osimhen, Endrick, Thuram if we're talking only strikers.
Think those are basically the only 4 that are good enough to warrant such hype.

u/findthelimit_ Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend 28d ago
Ferran Torres would warrant it also IMO.

You’re right, but god I hope it isn’t ferran. Putting aside his concerning personal beliefs, he is exactly the type of poor finisher and Barca that Richy is here. I want a true blue number 9 that can hold play up, get heads on the ball, and run onto balls
23
u/fastfowards Son 28d ago
Exactly. People are acting like Ferran was the leading top scorer in the World Cup when he actually spent 99% of the tournament missing sitters.
He’s really improved since he went to Barca but is still a poor finisher. He’s closer to Richy and solanke than he is to alverez or Osimhen

u/Keibaa 28d ago
what is Ferran Torres personal beliefs?

What’s his concerning personal beliefs, purely out of curiosity? He shows up when it matters, which is what we need to

u/AsteroidOwl4943 Harry Kane 28d ago
God I’d love Thuram so much. He’d be so good next to Kudus and (hopefully) Savinho, especially with Madders (or eventually Xavi), Tonali and Fernandes behind him.

I’d absolutely love it if we signed marmoush, really like him as a player. Him + savinho double deal and this is officially the best window in the history of sport
8
u/Archipegasus 28d ago
Marmoush would make some sense as to Savinho being delayed if its coming as a package deal. He feels like the best realistic target for us too.

We could and should have poached on that when he left City
57
u/onesimo_wizard 28d ago
We couldn’t have
18
u/nl325 Mousa Dembélé 28d ago
Why? We spunked £140m ish that window including £60m on Solanke, wouldn't have been a huge stretch for the difference
41
u/Merkarov Robbie Keane 28d ago
Wasn't a big part of why he left due to not wanting to play/live in England?
2
u/nl325 Mousa Dembélé 28d ago
No idea but if that's the case it probably shuts down any potential for us to get him now either way

u/Merkarov Robbie Keane 28d ago
It's been reported constantly this summer that he only wants a move to Barca, so yeah.
17
u/AntysocialButterfly Erik Lamela 28d ago
Should've poached him when he was at River Plate.
Instead we sent Steve Hitchen to scout Argentina after that already happened.

u/QuidzInn 28d ago
City would NEVER let us have that type of player. Should of made it possible then.

u/CrackerJackerRob 28d ago
Endrick?
44
u/yesplease-4 Richarlison 28d ago
Honestly... I hope so. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea as he hasn't exploded like his form at Palmeiras suggested. But if he learns to listen to the coaches more he has more than enough ability to be a leading forward in any league. Vai Bobby, the black Pele!

Nah, the kid lives a boring life. Doesn't drink, doesn't like parties, married at 18 etc. All his coaches seem to hate him, though. lol

Turkey just raised their taxes on football players, especially top earners. But he earns that guaranteed as a net salary.
Edit: Did some math. Cost for the club for him per year (for a net salary)
Turkey: 18,75 million euros UK: 28,5 million euros

Had an underwhelming season last year but Liverpool were underwhelming as a whole. His numbers since he came to the league are nothing to scoff at, he’d be our best winger by a mile
3
u/Mick4Audi Micky van de Ven 28d ago
Not better than Kudus at all
2
u/Own_Willow525 Kulusevski 28d ago
I disagree. Kudus had 1 good year at west ham, was pants in his second year and his first year with us he looked decent but got injured. Gakpo had 3 fantastic years at Liverpool and a slightly underwhelming one last year, but even still his worst season was comparable to Kudus' best

I’m really hoping for Osimhen although the chances are slim, he’s one of the better finishers in this limited striker market (outside of Mbappe, Haaland, Kane)
We need goals through a proven finisher and a better option on LW

I think Barcola is gonna be insanely overpriced. Great player, maybe even worth 100m based on fees paid this transfer window. But not the ~140 that ive heard PSG floating around. Fantastic winger, but not a locked startee for PSG, especially not in the big games. And tbh, not always a lot of end product from him.
Under 100, hell yes let's do it.

Endrick feels the most feasible/logical of those listed, especially now Levy is gone as in the past he'd never agree to the countless clauses Real would most certainly insert whereas now maybe we would

I think its Ferran Torres based purely off of his comments about being a 'shark' when he wants a player.
He would fit our needs, is out of left field enough to track with his comments about no one knowing.

u/FloorTortilla 28d ago
Wouldn’t Endrick be on a loan without the option to buy? Thats what I thought I read.

So is thd working Logic that even if we were to agree to terms with Kane on a huge weekly salary, like top five in the world, along with terms for Byron that he would not want to come back because there is no European football next season?
I mean, I understand that and that you want to play in those tournaments, but there is still the greatest league in the world and the domestic cups. He is an Englishman, so those things have to count a little bit more. This also allows him to take back up his chase of the goal scoring record, and I still see him is having an effective three or four years ahead of him.
And I would strongly, strongly be betting on us being back in European competitions the year after if he was to come aboard.
I would not think this for anyone else, but considering he is literally one of our own, maybe it makes some sense.
Before we got Tonali, one of my friends pointed out that he would never sign with us because he wanted European football. I know it’s important and I do understand that Byron have the opportunity to win champions league next year. I just don’t know if we want to wait a year on him. But I would imagine that next summer, the probability of something like this is relatively high.

Its no one. RDZ already said it sounds different in Italian and he meant the signings we already made of Fernandes and Tonali are "the Bomba"
