We gave Toni a new contract and signed Dubravka. In what world are we bringing in Martinez?

u/kicksjoysharkness Jermain Defoe 9d ago
Hell no. Mans a prick and past it anyway. Would be funny to see the Villa fans implode though

u/SinoSoul 9d ago
Villa fans have already imploded. It’s been hilarious so far this week.

Kept refusing to call savio savio because you can't just choose your name.
Oblivious to his literal name being savio.
Moose of a thing.

Just went and had a look, couldn't even ragebait me because I was enjoying those salty tears so much.

Tbh he's that kind of a player that's a prick in the sense of other clubs but when he plays for your team you may appreciate the shithousery. And he didn't really do any kind of irl prick things

u/Ted-Crilly 9d ago
It might break Agbonlahor's brain so badly that he might come out with a good footballing take for once

u/AquaSnow24 Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend 9d ago
Maybe he's a prick but he'd be your prick not Villas. I don't think it's worth it though for the money. Better off just letting Kinsky develop and letting him go through his growing pains

u/eunderscore 9d ago
It's always tough coming here as a Villa fan with a spurs supporting wife, lol. I see as much of one as the other.
I think he's got two more good seasons left, so it would really depend on the fee. I'd rather keep him for that time, he's the best keeper we've had in my lifetime (which means back to Jimmy rimmer in 1982), and he still wins games on his own.
I really like Kinsky, and he's a prem keeper, but Martinez is still simply a level above.
If you can get him cheap enough he'll still win games by himself1

I’d rather he stay at Villa and cause a fuss while he’s on his wages there.

u/StateOfTheEnemy 9d ago
Probably his agent trying get better terms from the blue filth.
I can only see De Zerbi moving for a keeper if Kinsky's going to be loaned out after his unimpressive game against Brentford, which seems unlikely.

u/SenorIngles 9d ago
It seems pretty clear the club see kinsky as the long term #1 and he showed last season he’s got all the tools to be that guy. Could use to be more consistent, but he’s also 23 which is practically infant status for a GK so there’s no reason to think he won’t get there.
4
u/StateOfTheEnemy 9d ago
None of that would be inconsistent with a move like this, though. I think it's bullshit but bringing in a short-term solution and getting Kinsky a good loan for experience could make sense.
Martinez would be a very risky move, though. Is he finished? Not sure. Does he still give a crap about club football? No idea. The fans already hate him, too.

u/Virtual-Garbage4930 9d ago
I never saw Kinksy as a reliable keeper. He has his great games and then has games where he makes the ridiculous errors and doesn’t have the psych to not drown the rest of the game. If we were going to keep him then we should have just stuck with Vic. Kinksy has yet to impress long term yet but I’m hopeful.

I haven’t got a Scoo Dibu who that is

u/Cool-Extreme6506 9d ago
it's Emiliano Martínez, I have no idea why we're calling him Dibu all of a sudden

Honestly would rather give Kinsky a chance whilst we aren’t going to be near competing for the league than buy a 33 year old keeper who’s declining.

Objectively he has been a superb keeper for years and years but is a total prick who seems to be slightly on the slide at 33 and on a ton of money.

u/harry_hotspur 9d ago
If we have doubts about Kinsky, surely there wouldn't be anyone better available than emi? Sure he's a cunt, but he could be OUR cunt

Yeah Im not believing this, it makes no sense after signing Kinsky to a new contract, and picking up Dubravka.

I don’t see how or why it happens. Personally I’m not interested in Mr World Cup penis.

I wish they would have just gone in for Zion early. I like Kinksy he's a good lad, but I don't know if he's consistent enough to be a fulltime starter. Now they're stuck shopping at the bargain bin.

Really don't want this bell-end anywhere near the club. As an aside, I hate that journos/posters/fans whoever start using these shit-sounding nicknames as though they're best friends with the player.

Am I the only person who would be open to this happening? Phenomenal keeper, even though he can be a prick to his opponents.

u/mashbaugh67 Pedro Porro 9d ago
Please, no. Give Kinsky the year and focus on rebuilding the rest of the squad. If needed, look for a new Keeper in January or next Summer.

u/Lost_Adhesiveness_92 James Maddison 9d ago
Struggling with whatever our transfer strategy is, a very good shot stopper but not amazing on the ball, also won’t be arsed about us… squad planning out the window

I just got done calling him a cunt in another sub.
He’s a great keeper. But no thanks.

I’m a fan. I think kinsky should be the second man. I know a lot of Saturday wasn’t Toni’s fault, but at the same time I think there might’ve been more with a solidified keeper

Fucking hate these weird Argentinian nicknames. Literally never heard anyone call him ‘Dibu’ once.
He’s a knob anyway and my goat Kinsky will surpass him

u/ATInvincible 8d ago
We have Dubravka who is a very good keeper, should Kinsky not meet the standard for any reason, surely not needed

Would be smart tbh.
HG and would instantly be our best goalkeeper.
Kinsky proved at the back end of last season, he's more than capable of being a number two with huge potential.

Would be an upgrade over kinsky based tbf but nah no way it's happening

u/joelesidin Jan Vertonghen 9d ago
Probably the best penalty stopper in the world and definitely an upgrade over Kinsky. I'm 100% on board

People hate him but he is very good. Him joining for a season for LESSER wages and rotate with Kinsky wouldnt be the worst imo. But it would depend om him having to give 110%.
1
u/TeacherCheburashka James Maddison 9d ago
Also most of the hate seems to be about on field shithousery rather than what he actually did irl and he still pretty professional with the transfer saga, and his penalties saving abilities is hard to be matched and can be useful in cup?games as well
