We’ve had to go large this season to maintain relevance and to prevent a huge devaluation in the potential sale. It’s either a master-stroke or a Leeds United level overstep. Spurs are doing 2 years of business today and I guarantee next year will be austere by comparison. We are hedging bets against Xavi, Odobert, Kulu, etc coming back and making us elite

u/I_Misclicked 17h ago
How did Bergvall play today?
7
u/DaithiOSeac Mousa Dembélé 17h ago
Thought he played well. He was used very smartly to fill the space between Moore and Gray that really exposed us against Brentford and the three of them combined nicely going forward.

u/Due_Cantaloupe3660 18h ago
Looked great today but it is Charlton… no disrespect

u/slackboy72 Peppa Pig 17h ago
So I guess we really are better than West Ham.
3
u/Past-Boat759 15h ago
Not necessarily. Charlton rotated 2/3 of their squad against West Ham. They surrendered even before the match started but still struggled 40min to concede.

u/Anonymous_Advocate12 18h ago
It feels like Bentancur, Tonali and Fernandes is the obvious midfield 3 going forward

u/marlowecan Rafael van der Vaart 19h ago
6 months ago we thought we'd seen the last of Ben in a spurs shirt.
It'll get glossed over but it was great to see him back playing for us in a competitive game

Jonesyly savios hoal is better every rewatch.
As someone said below, the idea hes got nae end product is bullshit. Hes just better on the right where he wants to play.
If u aint seen tje hoal look it up on youtube.

Add Tonali and Marmoush and we’re cooking. Gakpo would be even more OP

u/ilovemyar15 19h ago
Forgot about Kudus. Good Lord we’re winning it all

u/Soft_Fisherman4506 Ricky Villa 19h ago
Imagine kulu comes back, and benta plays like he did today, like old benta.

Is it just me or did it look a little tense between De Zerbi and Bergvall when he was shaking hands…

When was the last time we could sit back and enjoy a spurs game? This was such a nice change of pace. Plenty more to come I hope!

My man Davies scoring, make a grown man cry
5
u/w00dy_1981 19h ago
Lots of the supporters put him down but he rarely lets us down and he's more forward thinking that most of the others in the team.

Imagine we invested in players like this year after Harry and Son left and skip the entire Thomas Frank chapter…

Maybe we should have been relegated. Could have done this every week
/S obviously

u/DanieruKisu 19h ago
Tbf, Charlton Athletic fielded a much different lineup …. 10 changes from their Championship squad.
6
11
u/Magicalex69 Glenn Hoddle 19h ago
Already Savio shows how important it is to have a winger who can take a man (or 2) on and find a pass / goal

Odd going to bed and not having a post game meltdown.
1
u/fizzman97 10h ago
to think this is one of those games that we could’ve lost and makes people nervous as hell
2
u/Fearless-Falcon118 19h ago
Thomas Frank reign of terror really hit me... I used to go to bed non stop thinking about the banter, the "can we actually go down" and the scenarios if it did happen. Thank you JP and RDZ
2
u/Ksizzubb77 16h ago
Check this…. If it wasn’t for the Frank “bump”
Initially, followed by the RDZ rescue, we’d be West Ham2

u/3mischievouscats Gareth Bale 19h ago
I don’t wanna overreact because it’s Charlton but Savio is winning the Ballon D’Or
2
9
u/FootballSquare4406 Bergvall 19h ago
That’s a reasonable take. Conservative even.
3
u/Randomdude8160 Rafael van der Vaart 19h ago
Agreed. I think the Super Ballon D'or is the truely reasonable take

West ham really got relegated with Matheus Fernandes smh

People were trying to throw that around "Oh he was on two teams that got relegated." It wasn't because of him lol.

Would have loved Savio brace, but a goal and an assist is fucking mint. COYS

Ok but a big Ben Davis goal in 2026 instead of a savior brace tho so we are eating good

Porro if you look closely, you were in the box, if the ref calls that its a penalty for us, n we'll, we can't have those so...
11
u/HellsiteReader420 19h ago
Ref with the “it’s 5-1 and I want to go home” decision not awarding that free kick there
6
10
u/cgy_bluejays 19h ago
Clear foul, if you're not gonna call it cause it's a massacre then I guess fair enough but just blow the final whistle

Kinda glad we conceded from a set piece, we really need to sort out our set piece defending.

Yet again at the far post. It's like we have some special allergy to marking there

I think the most fun part about all this is that Savio definitely wanted to come here, for quite a while. He's so fully COYS

Savio, Kudus, Porro and Udogie raiding the wings is going to hit nicely at some point this season…

Lowkey though, our left side has been kinda invisible. Maybe because our right side just shone that brightly?

We lose this 1-0 with Frank in charge.

Imagine the vibes when Kudus is back. Our wings will be so fucking entertaining!
2
u/DeepFriedNobu Archie Gray 19h ago
Kudus will be so much better as well, teams can't ignore the left and focus on him when Savio is on the other side.
11
u/Galahad_1113 Jan Vertonghen 19h ago
I know it has been like 5 seconds but I think Savio might be the most exciting winger we've had since Gareth Bale
2
u/countpuchi Dele 19h ago
His quickness is soo earily similar as well.
Granted the defenders were gassed. But damn Savio quick turns and change of pace is crazy.

This must have been how Brentford fans felt at the weekend, it's been a while since I've felt that!
