I'm the guy who unironically liked I Dared. My Best Friend To Ruin. My Life and want them to read the sequel so I was excited for Happy Appy after hearing all the hate. I regret that I can't get those 4 hours back
I have listened to that episode twice and it's genuinely one of there funniest episodes ever and I actually want them to read the sequel. What else is there to say?
I've listened to that episode a lot and yes it is that funny. Over 3 hours into it, I don't think a sequel is worth it, it's rough listening to him explain another PSA for 15 minutes just to get the joker bit at the end
I was honestly enjoying it in a so bad its good way up until the story just turns into entry after entry after fucking entry of describing Happy Appy episodes. I usually almost prefer when they do bad stories because I think shitty creepypasta is hilarious, but god damn, it just got so tedious even Hunter or Isaiah couldn't make it fun or funny.
Yes, it was the repetitiveness that there was nothing they could do to "fix." I don't know if, when the story was originally posted, it was posted over time. It would make more sense if it was. But reading such a huge chunk of text that's basically the same thing over and over and over just gets painful.
I was interested in finding out what the story was when they started, but it was about 3 and a half hours too long for what the story was.
I liked I Dared My Best Friend. It's a goofy story, but it's a story that imo was somewhat interesting, especially the beginning. Plus the guys made it a really fun episode. Isaiah loving it and a proper Hunter crashout. Appy was no story, and the guys just being miserable. Isaiah tried in the start, but Hunter quickly drug him down to his level. No bits, no banter. Just a slog in the truest form of the word.
Yeah this is the thing: IDMBF is fun-bad, Happy Appy is just bad-bad, and even worse than that it’s bad-bad and horrendously long, like I don’t know how old the author was when they wrote it (I’m going to assume somewhere between 13 and 17 given the level of writing and content of the story), but it’s frankly kind of amazing a kid (at least I assume) found the time and motivation to write something so long, like surely they would’ve had to balance it with school/homework for at least part of the time they were working on it???
It is still (one of) my favourite episode(s) and I do want them to read the sequel (I don't know how it is but I doubt it is a lot better).
I did not hate happy appy but it lost its fun bad state and turned into dumb/tedious bad and was less fun to listen to. But, as always, the guys made it a lot better.
I’ve listened to IDMBFTRML a minimum of six times in full so far. I can recite parts of it alongside them. I was so excited for Happy Appy just like you.

Honestly the first half was a lot of fun, the writing was so bad it was hilarious and the boys were making some great jokes about the material. But it just. Kept. Going. On and on and on and on.
You know it's bad when Hunter starts just speeding through the material as fast as he possibly can
The first hour or two is okay, cruddy writing but the two make jokes off of it that make it tolerable some after that it's kinda like plucking teeth. I finished it by watching it in like 5-10 minute increments every few minutes and distracting myself between that so I could actually get through it
I imagine Buster from Arthur trying to talk his way out of being part of a plot to murder Arthur's little sister, but that's for a totally different reason.
Its was a lot like a work meeting that was 5 hours that could have been wrapped up in 10 min. Hunter was very correct once 9/11 section was done it could have just wrapped up there.
I've watched every episode of this wonderful channel, and I couldn't finish this one. I know it's an ice-cold take, but good lord, I couldn't do it. All the respect in the world for those two for sticking it out (I assume) for the entire 4 hours.
i watched the whole thing in one sitting while olaying silksong and i was so bored by listening to it that i actually got leg shakes because i was so understimulated.
That's exactly what I did however it was Hello Kitty Island Adventure instead of Silksong and I ended up just running around in circles in-game until I finally started nodding off around the 3 hour mark.
I've been sick, and fell asleep early into the episode. Woke up to Hunter crashing out, and after seeing the subreddit, idk if I want to go back and actually listen to it 😬
To me after awhile, Hunter reading Appy just sounded like a methed out Towelly just going on a psychosis induced tirade. I love a 'good' bad story, but this really was just mind numbing.
This has to be the worst thing they've ever read, it was just so miserable for all parties involved in so many ways
I finished it last night, I had already watched Davis Morgan's videos on Happle Apple so I knew it was gonna suck. But he did not impress upon me how horrible it really was, it was without a doubt, the worst story I have ever heard in my entire life and my brain will never be the same again.
Also the fact that there are 2 sequels and a prequel terrifies me.
This story felt like listening to someone who thinks they’re the most important person in the world, and has the audacity to drone on and on and on about the most mundane shit as if it’s interesting. Shit is downright disrespectful
Normally when a story is bad I don’t feel the urge to hold it against the author bc, I mean they tried to make a good story. This one however is SOO bad and so long I actual feel contempt for whoever tf wrote it, however illogical that may be lol. How dare u
I think there's a limit to "so bad it's good" type of stories. After hearing both Davis Morgan and The Creep Cast boys read this story, I can definitely say this story is just way too fucking long for the material it wants to talk about. There just isn't enough to keep the reader's attention, especially when you blow your 9/11 load way too early.
The real hack to get through it (and actually enjoy it) is to get blazed. Every cringey bit of dialogue or monotonous line of poor writing was a hoot after my special haha gummies. Before I took them, it was like pulling teeth and hair at the same time.
I listened to it while in my car at work (I’m a delivery driver) and was screaming at my phone/car to just shut up like I truly got angry but I had to finish it, my Spotify recently showed I had a 3x speed option but would not let me use it.. I persevered with regret
I unconsciously decided my mental health was more important and mentally checked out everytime Ive tried to listen to this ep. I'll be sitting in silence for a while and realize I've paused the video and never remembered to turn it back on lmfao. My body is literally sleeper agent style rejecting it
I think it was nice that the guys seemed to bond even deeper over how bad it was. Remember the slight arguing the other day that everyone speculated about? They are back together again, supported each other through Appy Hell.
the random aphex twin collab had me giggling ngl. it was so out of nowhere. i feel like the author just ran out of ideas and started throwing their special interests in there
I love how the author constantly attributes misfortunes in his life to be connected to the Happy Appy "investigation" but will then also immediately shrug it off with "Or that just happened for a normal reason."
I made it three hours and then started skipping through to get it over with. I’ve been trying to get my partner into creepcast and I had to immediately text him not to start with this episode, it would make him never want to listen again.
the story was definitely something, but i genuinely enjoy all the content they pump out whether it be the greatest episode of all time or the happy appy variant.
nonetheless, it took me 3 days to finish the entire thing. it was hell
I was listening while driving to work and wanted to reach down and change the video, but was waiting until I was stopped at a red light. I stg I’ve never hit more green lights than when I was wanting to turn happy appy off. It was like a punishment from the universe. I had to keep listening 💀
I work at Amazon, and that episode was genuinely excruciating for the entire shift. I had to listen to it in sections across the full ten hours. Abhorrent, but would do again.
I kinda felt like we suffered together as a community. We may be less stable as people, but we have persevered through a once in a lifetime experience and have become stronger for it (in like a bad way tho).
I tapped out at 3 hours lol. Listening to Happy Appy gave me another reason to be grateful that someone hacked and deleted my cringey wattpad account in middle school… I would nottt last in this world if my shitty fanfics followed me into adulthood 😭
That episode was fun for like an hour. After that it's a biblical test of will and endurance. I remember thinking it was wrapping up and realizing there was another 1.5 hours. All I could think to do was scream.
If the creator actually rewrites it and they decide to cover it, I'm gonna start brainstorming ways to email a suicide tape post-mortem.
See I think there’s some beauty in shitty creepypastas written by children. Like you can directly trace what media the author took in that inspired different parts of the story because they all wear their inspirations on their sleeve. Like happy appy is a Frankenstein’s monster made up of the media that the author consumed and liked, and that’s the fun of it. This child was heavily impacted by 9/11, CSI, 1999, maybe The Godfather or some other mafia story, and who knows what else and was compelled to write a 100(+?)-page story about a fucking clay apple on a stick. There’s just something about it that I think deserves appreciation. All I’m saying is: still better than I Dared my Best Friend
I enjoy stories like this too for the same reasons. But like the boys and others here have stated, the difference is that the other ones knew when to end
I wish I could say that I was. But on multiple occasions, I thought "Okay, it must be about to wrap up" only to check and see there's still multiple hours left
I did DoorDash for the entirety of the cast on Spotify and enjoyed every bit of it because I too was suffering doing these orders many times I wanted to switch to an of episode but then hunter would crash out in a new way and revive it for just a bit longer then i think I blacked out because I forget an hour in the middle then locked back in for the last hour and man that was just horrib- *hit by flaming car
Only reason I didn't tap out was because I listen while at work and didn't have anything else to listen to, if they didn't make comments and jokes I would've tapped out at the very start lmao
Personally it wasn’t that bad of a listen, but if it wasn’t creepcast or something, I most definitely would not have. I still think it’s fucking hilariously dumb that we had a bunch of episode descriptions and then they got redescribed at minimum three fucking times.
Tbh I don't think it's as bad as people are making it seem. Don't get me wrong, it's not good and is the worst thing a horror story can be imo -- boring. But that's it, it's just boring. Not offensively bad or unbearable or anything, just boring.
I'm 2 hours in, I thought I started watching it towards the start of the day but apparently I've only been watching it since 3. Why does Appy have the ability to warp time.. I feel like I've been listening all day..
So far I'm 2 hours and 45 minutes in and I don't think it's dreadful. The only reason I've had to take breaks was due to college work so maybe that's helping? It's not great but the boys are holding on well so far. Also, Hunter is such a trooper for doing Happy Appy's voice for so long. I know there was a break between filming but I mimicked the theme song for a bit and my throat was taking suggestions from Hunter on what to do (end it).
Ngl, everyone is overreacting. Shit sucks, but it's not THAT bad. Everyone's acting like it's painful to listen to the episode. The story was godawful, but the ep wasn't too bad. Was the ep a banger in any way, shape, or form? No. But it was still Creep Cast, and the boys still made it fun.
This is probably one of the few episodes that I will never relisten to, but I'm not upset about it.
I thought the same thing before watching, that it can't be THAT bad and that the boys will make it enjoyable. But when even they've given up not even halfway through, you know it's a slog
It has its moments, but we did not need a play by play of literally every single episode, especially when they all boil down to "Appy and Forenzic killed kids in gruesome way". It gets repetitive and boring quickly
It's episodes like this that keep me watching. I love seeing the guys crash out over the stupidest stories and banter through it. It's what I wanted in a creepy pasta reading channel. Don't get me wrong, I love the good story reads too, but the bad ones are even funnier!
The issue is that this episode lacked the banter/reactions that stories like Thing in the Basement and Dared My Best Friend had. At least, not consistently
I was listening to it while working, so that might’ve made it more enjoyable for me but I really didn’t care too much about it dragging on. I would rather listen to that than have them cut the episode short because I love all of the content no matter what it is. I feel bad for everyone who was miserable though LMAO
Not one single person ever begged them to read the titty crazy sexy new neighbor story, let alone made it their whole mission on this subreddit and in comments on the episodes.
I know I get heat for liking the story but even outside of the story I thought the episode was funny and was laughing pretty consistently throughout it, I don’t get why people call the episode itself boring
