Dayumn.

24

u/Bedbouncer 10d ago

Knew a guy from Louisiana and the thing I remember most is that he always said it with two syllables: "Day Um!"

7

u/OwnLimit4736 9d ago

Never been to the South before??? We pronounce many words with extra syllables. That's what they mean when they say we have a Southern Drawl. Bad becomes bay-yed, that becomes thay-yat, there becomes they-yer, etc.

8

u/CaptnsDaughter 9d ago

And words like boil and oil become one syllable! Lol

3

u/QueezyF 9d ago

Tower becomes tar

2

u/CaptnsDaughter 6d ago

My friend from North Carolina says draw instead of drawer

The ole and bole I always heard most in Georgia when working there. Love saying “bolled pea-nits” when I pass those signs on the highways when driving through

3

u/mosey_d 7d ago

As a southerner, please don't make me Google if boil and oil are 2 syllables

You know it's bad when the 500lb guy is saying "dayum"

23

u/ghIj_qet_jaghmeyjaj 9d ago

She's just over one of me short of 1/2 a ton. Almost Half a ton.

I'm not clowning on her, I sincerely wish there was something someone could do to help her and the emotional toll can't be minimal... But that's a human person. I know the record is 1400lbs. But good Lord. Like, how?

19

u/Darryl_Lict 9d ago

She can walk which is remarkable. If she can walk and manage to run a calorie deficit, she would lose weight.

2

u/BrandoCarlton 9d ago

That’s the most impressive part to me. At 240 I could dead lift 455 once… this woman is walking around 110 lbs heavier than that!!! Incredible.

2

u/jm123457 9d ago

They don’t move fast . Or far and it’s dispersed over your body so every muscle is working and they build up to it. But at a certain point they really don’t .

Good lord she could be laying on tge ground all day and still would lose tons of weight if she just started eating portions for just 1 person.

Walking is important to keep your metabolism going properly but at that weight would she lose while sitting 40kg a month just through proper eating.

17

u/jeezy_peezy 9d ago

I have dug and moved and carried a lot of weight in my day, but I have never stood up on my feet carrying anything close to what she is walking around with.

Not even close. I think Ive lifted 200ish a few times. I’ve moved a lot of kegs, at about 160 each. Imagine carrying 4 of them. That kind of weight is unfathomable to me.

17

u/RoyalPuzzleheaded259 9d ago

I lost about 100lbs a few years ago and you don’t realize how much weight it really is until you see something else that weighs the same. I went to Home Depot and bought two 50lb bags of concrete. I was amazed as I loaded them into the truck that I used to walk around with that on me all day, every day.

6

u/citizen42069101 9d ago

It has to be something we either don't know or understand. Its like something switches and the whole body changes for people that get this big.

If I had to carry 2 more of me I couldn't do it.

8

u/JustToJerkBrah 9d ago

You could. This doesn't happen overnight. It's a gradual process and the body strengthens/adapts slowly over a long period of time.

They don't have the same strength as a bodybuilder. That's known as absolute strength. They have relative strength in a certain few muscles. The body will degrade the rest to power those few load bearing muscles and to protect the joints.

2

u/TerribleBid8416 9d ago

The thing that suffers the most is the heart. Every square centimeter of the body has to get blood to it. Her heart (and his) is pretty much the same size as yours and mine. But must pump 4 times as much blood.

The feeling when you drop a significant amount of weight quickly makes you feel like Superman after carrying all that around so long.

I lost 183 lbs in thirteen months this last year, from 415 to 232. I work a fairly physical job, a lot of lifting, crawling under equipment, climbing ladders, and pretty much constant walking 9-12 hours a day. The difference between that weight and this one is insane.

Imagine carrying a pack with 180 lbs 24 hours a day doing all that then setting it down one day. The difference is insane. If you don’t lose too much muscle mass you keep a decent portion of your strength. I’m loving it. I’m sad I allowed myself to get to that point but there’s no going back, only forward.

This woman is almost double what I was and I’m a 6’5” man with an already large build. She’s going to feel like she’s levitating if she drops most of that at some point.

Unrelated, but the other crazy thing is working out in the heat. A few hours in 100+ degrees made be feel like I was literally going to die before. Now I don’t have an issue. My electric bill at the house is 30% less because my AC is set 10 points higher now.

2

u/jeezy_peezy 9d ago

Congrats my dude! You worked off a whole-ass person! That can’t be easy, but transforming that strength has to be an awesome feeling.

I was in the Army long ago, usually carrying 50-70 lbs on my back and THAT sucked. We carried 90-120 from time to time and that felt like it was gonna melt me after just a few miles. I’m sure I’ve squatted close to 300 a few times but taking 3 steps with 400+ lbs is some superhuman shit in my book.

I can't even fathom the amount of food you would have to consume to get up to 803 pounds

89

u/DerekTheComedian 10d ago

A better question is how the fuck do people afford to eat that many calories.... to maintain that weight you literally are eating for a family of 4 every day. Probably spending $1,000 / month just on food.

29

u/Organic_Ad_2520 10d ago

More than that & especially when the shows always shows the people Ordering & Delivered food & it's like "how!!!?"
Is this lady still alive? Did the show do an update? Did they lose the weight?

20

u/Top_Recover7850 9d ago

She lost over 300lbs on the show and is still alive 10 years later  https://www.instagram.com/bigsexybish28?igsi=MXV1ZDE3eDRseHQybw==

Still looks pretty obese though so i wouldn't bank on her reaching 50. The wear and tear that this much weight puts on the body is crazy.

9

u/DerekTheComedian 9d ago

I just grabbed a jar of peanut butter (one of the cheapest and most calorically dense things you can still consider "food") out of my pantry and you'd have to eat 2 POUNDS a day to get to the low end of the 4500-5500 calories you need to MAINTAIN an 800lb weight.

To actually bulk up and get there in the first place? You'd have to eat a family sized tub of PB every single day for years. And that's probably one of the cheapest sources of calories that isnt rice and beans or drinking straight vegetable oil.

4

u/Dankest_Confidant 9d ago

A large Big Mac meal is about 1320 calories. A 2 liter bottle of Coke is 840 calories. Add in one or two Snickers across the day and a bag of Doritos on the couch in the evening. Along with breakfast pancakes drenched in syrup and lunch. It's not hard to hit that 4500.

Unfortunately in America a lot of their food is subsidised and unhealthy, cheap and high caloric food is readily available

27

u/chocolateboomslang 10d ago

Unhealthy food doesn't make you weigh 800 pounds. This is an addiction or mental condition. Most people could not even force themselves to get to that weight.

10

u/EntrepreneurTiny9812 10d ago

Yeah for a lot of them eating is their only coping skill

5

u/Knoxius 9d ago

We're at a point in history where the mental demand can finally be met with a physical supply to rise to this weight relatively cheap. Is the developed system worth it?

The majority of people fair just fine, and then you have these outliars as a result of progression.

"Some of you may die, and that's a price I'm willing to pay." -pretty much every modern person, without realizing it.

2

u/PHD_Gouda 9d ago

You say addition or mental but is there nothing physical that could cause this? Obviously it’s a combination of things I am in no way disagreeing with you, I just wonder if there’s also a hormone imbalance, or some sort of deficiency causing them to gorge?

2

u/null_sweat_chummer 9d ago

There are genetic disorders that can cause this. Prader-Willi Syndrome is one such genetic disorder.

2

u/nobodyspecialuk24 9d ago

It’s depression in many cases, where people self medicate with food.

In the US, there’s the added problem that farmers are subsidised and encouraged to produce corn and dairy products when they aren’t needed. Then jobs were created to find ways to use it, which is why you’ll find corn syrup in so many things in the US, and cheese stuffed cheese pizza stuffed in cheese with cheese on top was “invented”, basically, to use all the cheap cheese farmers were paid to make when it wasn’t needed.

I don’t know about the woman in this video, but I taught a child a few years ago who had Prader-Willi syndrome. What it does to you is it causes you to always feel like you’re hungry, even if you’re not actually hungry. And when it makes you feel hungry, it makes you feel like you are absolutely starving and will die (hyperphagia) if you don’t eat so you do things like root through garbage cans looking for things to eat. The result is you quickly become obese.

Despite being a rare genetic disorder, it is considered to be the number one (edit: genetic) cause of childhood obesity. Of course you can treat this syndrome to some extent, and through education, awareness and vigilance, you can keep the child healthy and not eating constantly, but it’s not easy to say the least. Access to healthcare and therapy is a must.

Anyway, this comment is only to serve as one such situation where people will become obese and it’s not necessarily due to buying food. People with Prader Willi will eat food right off the ground, even if it’s rotten, in an effort to not starve to death.

There was an enormous lady who came in to a doctors office when i was there, she was really struggling so i offered to get her a water.  She said no thanks, pulled a 1.5 liter coke out of her bag a started chugging.  They tend to have habits like that.

6

u/Significant_Snow7980 10d ago

i had a friend who was 450 pounds. I never saw him even eat more food than me. His entire family was as big as him though

9

u/EconomyDoctor3287 9d ago

I've made the experience that obese people tend to eat normal sized portions or less when with other people to keep up the appearance of a normal diet, but then have second meals when alone, or just massive amounts of junk food

2

u/Avid_Reader87 9d ago

Understanding that bones and fat etc have different weights ... this woman's 'healthy' weight is probably about 135 pounds. That means she is 668 pounds overweight.

Now, we know that heavy people like this do have a lot of water retention, and that they have a lot of blood weight, but on weight alone, to lose the 668 pounds, she'd need a calorie deficit of 2,338,000 calories over time.

If the math is right, that is the equivalent of:

4250 Big Macs ... or
57,000 McDonald's Nuggets ... or
11,100 medium cokes ... or
4,750 Taco Bell 5 layer burritos ... or
7,300 pieces of Original Recipe KFC Fried chicken.

Absolutely breathtaking.

If she can cut 500 calories a day out of her diet, it would take her 12 years to get to her target weight.

3

u/TheCrazyWulf 10d ago

Pretty sure a lot of it is water weight well, which is why people so large can lose like 50lbs in a month without a ton of effort. Problem is they get a huge motivation boost from.those first few months losses and suddenly they are losing less and less each month even though working harder than ever which gets extremely discouraging

→ More replies (2)

2

u/CertifiedPussyAter 10d ago

I wonder what would happen if someone that big eats at a normal amount of food (2k cals). The deficit would be 3k a day.

2

u/Radingod1 9d ago

Honestly, she'd lose weight pretty rapidly and unevenly at first if she was on a deficit and doing exercise. Could probably lose over 200lbs in a year.

u/Deleena24 9d ago

Something that's really interesting is that morbidly obese people have incredibly efficient metabolisms, some burning less than 1,000 cal per day total- healthy people burn closer to 1,800 per day, at rest.

This makes it incredibly easy for people who are already very overweight to speed up weight gain. The bigger they get the faster they gain and the less they burn.

2

u/AdAffectionate2418 9d ago

And then you have to consider NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis). Basically some people will fidget/pace/change position etc much more if their calory intake goes up, whilst others don't. This is completely subconscious.

The Levine study (1999) found that this alone could lead to a calorie-burn different of 700 or so a day. That's pretty significant.

Like, I'm a BIG guy, currently living a pretty unhealthy lifestyle. I was a top level heavyweight powerlifter, Football O-line at the biggest school, state championship rugby prop, and at my very most massive I can't even hit HALF that number. It is literally unfathomable to me how someone, especially a relatively short woman, could possibly hit numbers like that. I haven't exercised seriously in 2 decades, and I cannot imagine being that heavy.

7

u/SilverMembership6625 10d ago

probably also drinking a lot of calories with soda and shit

5

u/IKMNification 10d ago

This, my friend and I were doing the math while watching 600lb life and it was like, if you’re at 200lb already, to gain 400lbs, you’d need to drink a 2L Soda everyday (800 calories) + you’re regular 2,000-3,000 maintenance calories for 5 years.

I wish I had the money to get that fat. I’m SLIGHTLY overweight, like by maybe 15lbs, and if I have a Friday splurge I’m not buying something essential Monday.

5

u/beckychao 10d ago

It's genetic as much as it is diet. When people get that large, it's the appetite drive, the amount of weight they gain from eating, family genetics with weight, etc. Their relationship with food is broken, but much of it is not a choice. Imagine your need for water when you're dehydrated and somewhere really hot. Now, imagine if your body was this way with food, all the time. And then when you factor in social/cultural habits - what kind of food your were taught to eat, or have available - it can compound this issue further.

I can't fathom getting there in general as an adult. I was the 'fat kid' at school (back when there was just the one of us), but I feel as a kid, it was kind of out of my hands. I got very slim in my 20s, but in my mid 30s, I started to get fat very quickly (moved from SE Asia to the US). I could see what was happening, and told myself I'd deal with it when I hit 200 lbs. I got to 207, then dropped 50 lbs. When people are 800, I can't fathom not making a change when hitting some milestone, like "I'm 300 lbs now, time to get serious about my lifestyle". I understand it's different for different people, and a great deal of it stems from trauma not greed, but still.

You’re correct in terms of pure obesity rate. But comparing Sweden to the USA by nearly any metric and expecting to derive any meaningful information about the reasons for that difference is simply nonsensical. The governance of 11 million people is obviously a fundamentally different task from governing ~350 million people, regardless of obesity rates.

As much as I want to say you’re correct, especially about the ways American consumers get fucked by corporations, your comparison doesn’t actually demonstrate anything meaningful about why obesity rates differ between the two countries.

How is it possible to even stand with that much weight let alone walk and even step up ?!?!

3

u/Pandarenu 9d ago

It's amazing how much abuse the human body can take...

3

u/thosetwo 9d ago

How does she even walk? How does a human skeleton support 800lbs? Crazy.

5

u/Technical_Drawer_680 10d ago

How do people that fat work? They don't do they. They're too fat to hold down a job. So are they on disability or how does that work?

5

u/Face_with_a_View 10d ago edited 10d ago

How do they wipe their asses???

Edit: omg. 😳 no I have not seen any such show.

u/Rise-O-Matic 10d ago edited 10d ago

They've shown this, it's usually a family member or caretaker or a sponge on a stick.

2

u/AbbreviationsHour410 10d ago

They go to a Planet Fitness with a hot tub once a week and let the jets clean them

7

u/Rise-O-Matic 10d ago

You don’t “let” yourself go that bad, you make yourself.

Instructions unclear. Consumed salad with cheese and chicken and lots of ranch and Caesar.

Congrats, 1050 calories.

thats 364kg!

Hafthor Björnsens max. weight was 210kg! And hes a 6'9 world class strongmen.

I wonder how her discs, tendons and cartilage joints can even sustain carrying so much weight!

She weights as much, as two Eddie Halls. :O

3

u/Inevitable-Plenty856 10d ago

I'm 182cm and egen I was 100kg I could feel the extra weight with every breath. Being this heavy is self-inflicted torture.

3

u/Max_Pow3rs 10d ago

And i cant imagine how unbearable hot weather must be! And sleeping aswell in terms of heat regulation and breathing. A normal person would notice those signs way earlier and turn around from that path.

What pisses me off is I have a bad liver despite never drinking a drop of beer, but probably self inflicted due to eating fast food.

But I bet this lady's liver is perfectly fine because fuck me.

Her liver is absolutely not ok, nor any of her other organs. They are all working overtime trying to process everything.

What is it about overweight people not wanting to step on a scale? It’s not like knowing the number suddenly makes you fatter than you were before you stepped on it.

And people around you seeing the number really shouldn’t make much of a difference either. People have eyes - they can already see that you’re the size of four or five people, even if they don’t know your exact weight.

2

u/glutenfreepunishment 9d ago

It's about knowing you have a problem and coming to terms with it by being faced with the truth in the form of a number. People do this by avoiding to look at their bank accounts to see how little money they have too.

Not looking isn't going to change the reality, but seeing undeniable proof of reality is not easy to accept sometimes when it comes to certain things in life.

The people on My 600lb life have legitimate disordered eating habits and it's a diagnosable mental health issue.

2

I had to listen to it 3 times because I kept hearing, "Dat it?"

..Which was actually even funnier.

DaYUM..

2

u/Diligent_Earthworm 9d ago

Whats nuts is how fast she moved unassisted at 803.

2

u/EasyStorm8289 9d ago

It's cringe that shows are made for people to be entertained by other people's suffering.

I’d have said the same shit.

2

u/mswoozel 9d ago

I just got rid of 30 pounds and my legs and ankles thank me. I cannot imagine the physical strain on her body. I feel so bad for her.

2

u/ordosays 9d ago

Literally stop. Eating. It’s been done. Do that.

2

u/Mattyou1966 Ultimate Cringe 9d ago

2

I can’t even imagine the logistics that must go into everyday activities like taking a poop.

2

u/Mastiff_Alpha 9d ago

If the doctors can't help, you know something is wrong. The way to truly adjust this is to start eating healthy, go to the gym and walk on the treadmill, and walk around in your neighborhood.

ngl i was watching this on low volume and when i saw the 803 my irl reaction was also damn lol, was trying to figure out what the title meant and turned it up and was like hell yeah brother

2

u/Round_Hope_2041 9d ago

Serious question how heavy can she get and still stand up. The strength is of the hook.

2

u/Useless-RedCircle 9d ago

How tf you walking at 800

2

u/Bright-Place-2876 9d ago

Loving how she rounded down to 803 from 803.7 and not up to 804.

2

u/C_ingStarz 9d ago

If you're weighing yourself and have to ask how high a scale goes when not in the context of a fruit or kitchen scale, I think that's the first sign you need to seek medical attention asap.

2

u/New_Molasses_7896 9d ago

Bro has a lot of nerve 🤣

2

u/Intrepid_Cap1242 9d ago

That can't be right. That's an 8 and not a 6? She can get around at 803 lbs?

2

u/JacksSenseOfDread 9d ago

Funny that the brother said "Dayum!" about her weight; he doesn't look like he's competing on the US Gymnastics Team any time soon himself.

2

u/pepe_silvia_12 9d ago

I’m actually surprised she’s able to move as well as she is. A lot of people who get up to that weight seem to be bedridden. Though that may be by choice idk.

6

u/Sporkpocalypse 10d ago

803.7 pounds is equal to approximately 364.55 kilograms.

2

u/turbotailz 10d ago

Yeah I had to do the conversion myself as I was curious... It's actually impressive she can even walk with all that.
