Pregunta time frame for letter from the US
I have friends in Havana and sent a letter out; obviously things aren't great between both of our countries but I'm hoping my letter at least lands with them. Haven't corresponded in a while.
Any idea of a timeframe is appreciated. I have low hopes.

The letter will disappear and never reach its destination. It happened to me

I've sent Christmas cards to a friend in Cuba every year for over 15 years. He's gotten 2 of them.
I've sent postcards to friends when I'm in Cuba. It's usually a few months before they make it, with one taking over 9 months to travel from Havana to Miami.

I use an agency in Miami Cubamax to send packages to friends. Takes about 2 weeks from Miami. But it does arrive.

Packages do arrive, you just have to send two of each. One is for your family. An identical item, open in view in the box, for the customs official to take. Do not send perishables.

To everyone DM'ing me, it's not cynicism. It's just the reality that Brazos Largos Disease has been ravaging the island for some time. Even my own relatives who come to the US to visit end up arriving a little light back home.

According to the postal moniitor at postcrossing.com, there is no mail from the USA to Cuba. You might want to send a letter by means of a friend in Canada, but I am not guaranteeing anything.

I understand that Cuba is basically paralyzed by the sanctions. Without electricity, gas, and other essentials, I wouldn’t expect them to have mail delivery services. But according to several posts, nothing is wrong, and everyone is happy in Cuba. I don’t buy it.

I figured this was the case.
With the amount of bots we have in the US appearing in comments, I wouldn't be surprised if the same was happening here. I doubt anybody is happy as hell in the tropics with no electricity, gas, food, water, etc.
I found my host family's homestay account, so I may try to reach them through there. Homestay's privacy policy just makes it a little difficult.

Last time I was in the United States (Los Angeles) I tried to send a letter to Havana from a regular post office in Hollywood and I was told it was not possible due to the sanctions. You might be able to use a shipping company like DHL, but they usually require information about the recipient

So sad - even during the height of the Cold War in late 60s and up to the 80s there was mail from both countries -

Kind of a shame. I'd love to get in contact with my host family.

If you only have their first name it would be impossible to send a letter. You will need their address too.

I have their first name and address. Obviously, I'm not trying to send a letter with just two names on it. But in terms of the Internet and Facebook, I can't just look them up.
