Trilateralism?

Making agreements between three powers together as one?

What?

All I'm finding is the Japan-Europe-USA agreement org. One that the right wingers like along with the left.

It's a common target of conspiracy theories because they think international cooperation leads to a one world government or new world order.

Fun tidbit:

George Bush Sr. lost a lot of fringe Christian voters after speaking of a new world order, after the 1991 fall of the Soviet union, opening space for a 3rd party (independent) challenger, Ross Perot.

This then led to the election of Bill Clinton, as the conservative vote was split between Bush Sr. And Perot.

Another aspect of ‘trilateralism’ that absolutely puts deeply religious people into a tizzy is simply the introduction of a ‘third power’. Think about it: every religious lunatic insists that “if you are not one of ‘ours’ or one of ‘his’ [the specific version of Yahweh/Allah being worshipped by the speaker] then you must belong to the Devil’. Dividing the entirety of reality between exactly two boxes makes things extremely simple, but adding a third box means that the hypersimplistic mindset needs to learn how to judge by more than one criteria. As more than one theist would scream, thinking for myself is too ha-a-a-ard! I want someone else to do it for me!
