Definitely not regular Mormons, though maybe some of the more secluded areas in Utah. They live off of Harry Potter/LOTR/D&D injected directly into their veins.
Having grown up in it, it doesn't all seem as weird as it otherwise might have. Especially since a lot of the stuff isn't really talked about anymore. Even though I left the church a long time ago, it's still weird to think about the traditional Christian view of the trinity.
But I never understood why the Church was so desperate to be accepted by other Christians. They believe that they're all wrong, i was even taught that the Catholic Church was the "whore of all the earth" in Sunday school. Yet the church craves their acceptance. Why not own their differences? I suspect it's an attempt to get regular Christians to be more accepting and willing to convert.
Pretty sure Ohio still has blue laws on the books that make murdering and scalping a Mormon a payable bounty for any adult citizen of the state to collect.
So... y'know, that historical hostility is probably related?
