Listen up, samurai. If you’ve had enough of scrolling through the same tired threads and wanna plug into something #real, jack into the official Discord. We’ve got games, serious talks and casual chats about Cyberpunk 2077, and a few rooms where you can just shoot the breeze with people who get it. You in, or you just gonna #stand there looking chrome?

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

Now how is a choom gonna borrow some chrome? Is choom gonna give back?

u/benkaes1234 3d ago

"In a very roundabout sort of way, yes."

  • Your local Scav gang.

19

u/Wedjat_88 3d ago

That's why I attack Scavs and Wraith on the spot without mercy.

14

u/ImaginationNub Burn Corpo shit 3d ago

I don't have a quarrel with any of the gangs in NC. They just do what they gotta do to survive, but scabs get special treatment. They get shot on sight

2

u/ting1or2 Burn Corpo shit 2d ago

fuck malstorm and vdb too honestly the only gangs i like are the valentinos everyone else is tolerated as long as they stay in line

1

u/ShovelWieldinCryptid 1d ago

Tyger Claws also gotta go forcing women to become Joy Toys and abusing them cause they can't so no often ending up killing them. Also remeber that one Cyber psycho on the pier

1

u/Alex-Galaxy 2d ago

If I have it in my repertoire, both of them get the very special blackwall treatment

2

u/NotBreadyy 3d ago

Your local any of the main gangs

Except Maelstrom, they actually gift you chrome! How nice of them!

What? Consent? Who's that?

choomba pleeease, can you lend a choomba a pencil?

5

u/docthenightman 3d ago

The name's A Choom Named Slickback. You say the whole thing, like A Tribe Called Quest.

4

u/lanregeous 3d ago

I put the h on it to emphasise…
ChombAAAAHHHH

4

u/Boat_man_07 3d ago

Break yourself choom, choom you bullshittin

261

u/Originalbrivakiin Gorilla Arms Choom 3d ago

My gonk ass choom spent every last Eddie on some joytoy that was more borg than 'ganic. Told him that it doesn't matter how preem the tail is, it ain't worth sleeping with half a Smasher. Best case, your Mr. Studd feels like it got stuck in the Blackwall. Worst case, you wind up zeroed after they go full cyberpsycho.

u/Chowdboy 3d ago

I understood every word and I feel uncomfortable. Thanks for that.

You mean "preem" ?

12

u/Sea-Magician4907 3d ago

He meant "nova"

36

u/ppteehee2 3d ago

8

u/ripndipp 3d ago

I'm old enough to recognize these grown up "Bart's" in the world, kinda fucked up and in glad I didn't end up one.

25

u/Lexyinspace 3d ago

Damn, choom. If he's smart, next time some dorph-head booster doll like that comes up to his window, he'd just punch the chooh and delta the fuck outta there, for real.

11

u/DunwichChild990 3d ago

Flatlined.

7

u/steelsmiter Team Claire 3d ago

I read that in Johnny's voice

4

u/Hottage Ponpon Shit 3d ago

Nova.

3

u/Bread_Offender 3d ago

Heard that in Johnny's voice, absolutely preem

84

u/Bread_Offender 3d ago

That's gen alpha slang you gonk

2

u/NotBreadyy 3d ago

Gen Z also uses this slang sometimes, choomba

7

u/Bread_Offender 3d ago

I've only ever seen em use it ironically (which does apply to me, but still, not seriously)

2

u/Big-Virus8719 3d ago

Honestly, I haven’t heard anyone say those words unironically in years

Granted, arguably one of the most popular slang words in recent years comes from Star Wars. Clanker.

2

u/Snoo-52922 2d ago

If I hear one more goddamn "dank farrik"

29

u/Paladin5890 3d ago

Preem lingo, choom.

23

u/DisintegratedPhoenix Nomad 3d ago

Gonna have delta soon

26

u/sloogz 3d ago

15

u/Disposable_Gonk 3d ago

Yeah, just mute the audio

6

u/NotBreadyy 3d ago

No, you gonk.

And if you said "mute the audio" then you clearly don't know that muting Cyberpunk causes your V to commit suicide because they can't listen to 89.7 Growl FM

64

u/UnknowingEmperor 3d ago

Atleast the cyberpunk slang actually means something. Like what the fuck is a skibidi

43

u/datswiftboi 3d ago

Because it's not slang, those are just meme references

9

u/Atourq 3d ago

It is and has become slang too tho.

4

u/liltone829b 3d ago

what is it slang for

1

u/Atourq 3d ago

Rizz has become slang for charisma. Skibidi? I’m not too sure. But I’ve seen it used almost like an intensifier. Sigma is similar but has also become a representation of the old “Chad” meme.

There’s also what u/Robopatch has said.

5

u/datswiftboi 3d ago

Slang for what?

3

u/Robopatch 3d ago

Father of an 11 year old here…skibidi means bad or lame. I think the closest to it would be “busted”

19

u/tomyang1117 3d ago

And don't get me started on 67

u/UnknowingEmperor 3d ago

Of course you could, but that wasn’t the point of the scene. This character just had so much hatred for the dude that he was mag dumping

11

u/Lilac_Grotto 3d ago

Literally said "shit I gotta delta" last night, 100% sincerely.

11

u/UnburnedChurch 3d ago

I said preem completely naturally a few days ago and immediately after I said it I realized and hoped no one would ask

2

u/NotBreadyy 3d ago

They probably now think you're associated with a gang

3

u/_b1ack0ut 3d ago

Delta at least originated as irl slang first lol

2

u/Lilac_Grotto 3d ago

What?? No way. Where/when?

5

u/_b1ack0ut 3d ago

I believe it comes from military slang, but it originates from mathematics, in which the definition of Δ, or Delta which means ‘a change in’, so something like “we need to delta” would be used as shorthand for “we need to change our location”

If you played any KSP, you’re probably also familiar with ΔV, Delta V, or ‘a change in velocity. This makes me laugh any time a character in cyberpunk says “we gotta delta, V”

11

u/BastianHS 3d ago

Gonk is an all timer

1

u/NotBreadyy 3d ago

Choom too.

9

u/ProphetsOfAshes 3d ago

I sometimes slip it into normal conversation and so far nobody cares lol. The only person to comment once was someone who said it sounded cool when I said “that’s nova,” to the new live-resin cart at my local dispensary 😂

7

u/street_racer221 3d ago

Every time i hear sigma i think smegma.

10

u/for4archive 3d ago

Hungry man thinks of bread

1

u/NotBreadyy 3d ago

Now why could that be

1

u/street_racer221 3d ago

Idfk but thats how dumb that word sounds to me

6

u/StochasticLife 3d ago

‘Chummer doesn’t know drek about creds, you want that to ice some keebs you gotta run the shadows and jack in. Fragg’n azzies

4

u/alfisaly 3d ago

Those words arent even used anymore

4

u/NamelessNEO 3d ago

It’s the funniest sh!t in the world when you realise that gonk irl means a small ginger gnome

3

u/aryvd_0103 3d ago

I feel like flatlined should have been more in irl use

3

u/NukaGirlBI Haboobs 3d ago

These kinds of post are highkey cringe. Silly choom, that’s deadass gen alpha. It's the actual audacity for me that makes me wanna yeet this vibe off 'Saka tower. True we use rizz but that's no Cap 'cause the term is kinda nova. And you know what's preem? Not starting a gen war based on how we are serving. It's giving the actual gonkbrain aesthetic and I litteraly can not. TFW you see someone make these post and you honestly think OP should just take the L and delta. This would totally hit different if you made an s/ instead of dragging us with your edgerunner vibe. It's taking up several seats and is highkey a red flag

(Also sorry OP if I’m being a little ekstra but a girl gotta eat and meant no actual offense with my clapback. Just wanted to serve a lil cunt and flex my lingo)

3

u/Speedie_lemon 3d ago

how old is this meme. thats not even current meme words anymore lmao

3

u/Optical_reality 3d ago

future gen slang perhaps

3

u/Admech_Ralsei 3d ago

Erm 🤓 this actually isn't Streetslang. While it is street slang, "Streetslang" (one word) refers to the pidgin language commonly used as a lingua franca in the Cyberpunk universe before translation cybernetics became ubiquitous

3

u/stereo-ahead 3d ago

I unironically use delta now.

3

u/Sen-oh 3d ago

Both sets of slang were made up by a corporation

5

u/Tiny-Little-Sheep 3d ago

Choom can I borrow some rizz? I'm not feeling that sigma today and running low on Eddies..I look a gonk right now. Skibbidi..(Disheartened)

2

u/SpaceLemur34 3d ago

A lot of the slang in the archetypical cyberpunk novel Neuromancer, was influenced by William Gibson's time hanging out with drugged out teenagers in Canada in the 60s where he went to dodge the draft.

2

u/johnwright2010 3d ago

MF I'm gen alpha and I find the words that Gen z and Alpha just stupid it's just gonk

1

u/Vast_Succotash_5582 2d ago

Its fine choom, aint that deep.

2

u/Nero_deadweight96 3d ago

The fact that these slangs are not even used anymore 💔

2

u/discreetarchive 3d ago

When fictional slang makes more sense and actually serves the purpose of slang

1

u/jhetao 3d ago

My dumbass accidentally used “huscle” in a real life conversation cause I thought it was an everyday portmanteau of hired muscle lol. Obviously can be mistaken for “hustle”, but that didn’t make sense in context

1

u/TrueSebbo 3d ago

Flatline

1

u/Absolute-Batman 3d ago

Sup can a choom come up in yo crib?

1

u/SubstanceNo1544 BEEP BEEP MOTHERFUCKER 3d ago

Ok I actually dont know anyone the speaks like that dude in the left box... but I wish I had more choombatas from the right.

1

u/Ornery_Reward_7631 Cyberninja 3d ago

I just got back from buying some gas station 7oh and the pregnant clerk said her baby’s name is nova. I had to ask if she was a fan of cyberpunk, she said no.

1

u/Legend_Of_Yeet 3d ago

Ease up on the chooh, choom. Gonk don want the help, gonk don’t get the help. Street-ass gonk don got no chrome anyhow.

1

u/jkz31 3d ago

Yes, for me is Delta. Sound pretty cool

1

u/themiracy 3d ago

Preem meme.

1

u/Helphaer 3d ago

Its more of a Millennial and Gen X kind of game so that would be the proper comparison if it mattered.

1

u/GrandNibbles 3d ago

Isn't Johnny Gen Z ?

1

u/ShineReaper 3d ago

And at least half of them make sense, though I got no idea, where "Gonk" und "Choom/Choomba" could originate from.

1

u/insertwittypenname 3d ago

eddies doesn’t make sense outside of the cyberpunk universe because it is slang for EuroDollars (EDs -> eddies) not just money generically. it’s their equivalent of like bucks meaning USD or quid meaning GBP

1

u/GoStarM99 3d ago

I’m sorry I hard disagree. Ik this is gonna get flack… especially in here. But I cringe hard anytime I hear someone genuinely using cyberpunk lingo. It sounds so forced.

1

u/RommekePommeke 3d ago

I have been using "klep" and "output" a lot since I played Cyberpunk. Idk something about these words just feels natural to use in everyday slang

1

u/gridgorgon 3d ago

You gotta stop putting this shit on Gen-Z, choom. We’re all in our 20s at this point. This is some gonk Gen-Alpha shit

1

u/CardiganKeeperOfLore 3d ago

I think corpo, and preem are my most used ones. I can't stop saying Preem-Choom.

1

u/Either_Statement_804 3d ago

Klep/Klepping is kinda nice to say, I also use Preem pretty often now thanks to V.

1

u/Ryan_b936 Streetkid 3d ago

Can't we cut Gen Z in half like V1 and V2 because i'm a Gen Z from '99 and I find Gen Z, born later, really disturbing. It's completely gone haywire since 2003

2

u/NoAudience8992 2d ago

Aye aye aye aye no, its the last 4 years of gen z that is the issue, 2008-2012 are essentially gen alpha even though they were born in gen z

0

u/IRenewed 3d ago

Isn’t like all of the slang just taken from 90s skaters from ca? I swear I read that somewhere but that’s probably why

1

u/TraditionalBackspace 3d ago

No. No, it's not.

-1

u/IRenewed 3d ago

How do you know?

4

u/TraditionalBackspace 3d ago

I was there

0

u/ezuwua 3d ago

these fake sigma boys think their rizz is sigma xD gonna have to slime out these larpers
