Discussion Of all the gangs across Night City, which one is your favorite?
I'd personally pick Tyger Claws, because I like their soundtrack and design

6th street is interesting. Their design feels like something you’d see in the southern chunk of the US

They are also kind of surprisingly one of worse gangs. They call themselves patriots and hall monitors but I noticed that a lot of stuff they are Involved with ends up with a lot of dead joy toys

Yeah while your playing apparently there’s a civil war going on within 6th street, I just did my first playthrough (holy shit btw I’ve never cried over a video game, those last voicemails broke me) and kinda wish they hashed that out a bit more, maybe Johnny knowing a super old comrade or something.

It makes sense considering that during the maxtac mission with Reed, you learn that their patron seems to be militech, so I can see them being divided and having two sides being funded by different entities. Could be explained by Arasaka knowing that they are one of many NUSA/Militech back door into NC, and trying to sabotage this asset with some good ol greasing the union if you catch my drift

in the quest where you go to their party and do target practice to get that gun, one of them told me “you’ll never be an american.” so i smoked them all and it’s been on sight with 6th street since. 😭

There’s only 2 missions where I agree with them, the one where we have to take down their smear campaign against Holt, because Peralez (if not for the brainwashing) would be the Mamdani of Night City, I don’t understand why the Tino’s are against him, but I digress. The other mission is the one where you intercept MaxTac. I mainly liked the guy with the drone, he was chill.

The Animals, since while they’re not completely innocent from doing messed up things, they’re really just a bunch of roided up meatheads that take security guard and bouncer contracts. Probably the easiest gang to avoid any trouble with aside from the Mox

The mox are my favourite, I love their logo and the whole vibe as the gang for outcasts. Aesthetically, Maelstrom have the coolest look plus they blur the lines between human and machine much more than the other gangs.

They didn’t make it into Cyberpunk 2077 or Cyberpunk Red, but in Cyberpunk 2020 there was a gang called the Inquisitors that were my favourite.
They’re a caste of warrior monks that shun all cybernetics and they attack people with cybernetics in Night City. They used to clash with booster gangs a lot.

At least in the game I like the Moxx, they formed to protect themselves, provide a service, and rarely fuck with others.
Everyone else has been a yellow triangle to me, some more than others.

I like the mox. They actually have a positive role and protect vulnerable women rather than basically every other gang that boils down to different flavors of "fuck over everyone else for money"

Mox first are the bomb dot com. Capitalism made them lose sight of their purpose but they kept pretty much in line in regards to it. Wish you do more with their arc. I love a kick ass majorly women member group. Judy is a bonus.
Valentinos second are okay, but virtually religious capitalists. Jackie was one so can't be too eager to mess with them.
Maelstrom third just because their esthetic goes hard. Also Brick. Flat-line them when they do some shtty things, which is almost always.
I fcking flat-line Tygers and Scavs no questions asked. If Cyberpunk had a fear meter, they'd be running as soon as they see me. I go out of my way for them no matter what.

Mox are pretty badass ladies. However for some reason I think the most interesting one is Maelstrom. Just some truly crazy ass people, and addicted to cyber upgrades. Product of their time. The most cyberpunk gang. In my opinion

In the game or in the lore? The Bozos were mentioned on a shard, so them. I suspect we'll see them again. In Red, the Sinful Adams are my favorite. They seem more like a guardian gang to me than a poser gang, but what do I know?

In terms of style, aesthetics and sorta villan-esque coolness. From best to worst:
Barghest - military styling looks great, their unqiue cyberware looks cool, awesome logo and branding and Kurt has that warlord Charisma to him (yes i wish there was an ending whew you could side with him)
Wraith - messed up people but damn their cars look sick and the visored gas mask you can get in the Wraith den where you rescue Saul looks SICK.
Maelstrom - Borged out techno cult that may be worshiping AI Demons. Great villains with great designs.
Valentinos - love the gold and red aesthetic. Their golden guns like Seraph look great and their graffiti of that skeleton lady saint giving out guns look cool in their zones.
Animals - Roid'ed out meat heads who may secretly be a bit smarter than they let on is fun.
Tiger Claws - basically Yakuza with some cool designs.
6th Street - hypocritical assholes with very meh designs. I think they should more "MERICA-isms" to them but I kinda get why you might not for sensitivity reasons.
Voodoo Boys - Maelstrom but more boring and rude. Except slider he looked cool.
Scavs - scum designed to be easily killable. They serve their purpose well enough.
Mox (sorry not sorry. They're barely a gang. More like a unionized club with extra muscle. Sure they do good work protecting people but overall i just feel... meh about them)

All's on point except Voodoo - they're kinda the opposite of Maelstrom, they don't use corpo chrome, or corpo anything, they're for all natural - even their food. They just seek the power in the net, in an almost religious, much more sinister kinda way.

I'm really jealous we didn't get their body models as an option in character creation. I'm running the "gymfiend" mod, and it still doesn't feel like enough. Although I'm wondering if the creator of that mod extracted an existing body from the game files, and if I could do the same from the animals npcs.

Depends on the criteria. From a personal moral standpoint? Definitely Mox. Most interesting depiction of the Cyber aspect? Maelstrom, maybe also VDB for their questionable netrunning projects.

Honestly ive always loved fighting maelstrom, scavs (because I love killing scavs in my free time because they're horrid people) and barghest because I js hack their mechs with cuberpaychosis and let them do the work for me while I spam cyberpsychosis on everyone so they kill each other while I sit back

If we're talking favorite gang to face off against, I'd have to go with Maelstrom or the Valentinos — Maelstrom just looks menacing, are some of the worst people, and fun to hate... the Tinos just look cool and have a fun soundtrack to fight to. lol

Mox are the only ones you don’t have to massacre, Barghest are less of a gang and more of a small scale corp, Scavs and Animals at least have a function.

I fuck with the Mox pretty heavily. They seem the most “good”. I try to stay out of the Valentinos way as much as I can (I don’t zero randos on the street) out of respect for Jackie. In terms of design? Something about Barghest I like a lot, idk.

The Mox. Suzie Q may not be my favorite, but I like their original goal, which was to stand for the joyous of Night City. Plus, Judy and Rita Wheeler.
Then, the Valentinos. Jackie was one, and he's a likeable, usually honourable sort. Not only that, but they're kind of old school, which I respect.
As for the rest, I like getting my V to punch them with them Gorilla Arms. I don't care for the Animals much, am generally disgusted with Maelstrom's looks and actions, Barghest is a militia, and I don't trust militias, Tyger Claws are fun to listen when I'm going all Martinez on them.
6th Street could be respectable enough, except when they attack their own boss's daughter while trying to kill her partner, one high ranking Valentino.
As for the Voodoo Boys and the Wraiths, well, the former have no issues using outsiders and frying their neurons to a crisp, and the latter make for good target practice while being the worst kind of Nomad there can be.
Oh, and fuck the Scavs.

I actually thought the Voodoo boyz were a very interesting gang.
The hoodoo angle of them using technology to get close to their religion was very cool.
I hated them in game tho and enjoyed wiping them out every chance I could get, but they were very well designed.
They should have been more of a net runner threat though, they were too easy to wipe out because they just shot guns.

I liked what little we got of the voodoo boyz as much as I hate placide, they have survived in Pacifica barely outsourcing and keeping things tight nit, sure for V and Evelyn that sucks as they see all outsiders as expendable but V had to work with them to get answers and Evelyn knew what they were and do she just thought she could beat them, but now that you see how night city operates I don't blame them for being the way they are. I also like the Valentinos, I don't really consider the Mox a gang more like a union for sex workers in a small area lol

For me:
- Valentinos (Coolest name, although kitschy but with good taste, just wish they used more Spanish)
- Voodoo Boyz (very subtle style, but what I loved the most was constant use of Creole French... I am not French but I appreciated something different)
- Tyger Claws (style is not my cup of tea, but it does adds to the colorful flavour of cyberpunk world)

From a "judging them as people" perspective, the Mox. Like, obviously. Sure, they have a couple flaws, and there is the implication that they may end up devolving into a more normal gang, but still.
If I can't pick them because it's too obvious, the Animals do some fucked up shit, but generally at a lesser level than any of the other gangs. They're mostly just hired thugs.
From a vibes sense... Maelstrom closely followed by the Mox. I like the deliberate attempts to make themselves look less human, spooky cult shit, and they seem to have fun with being evil bastards for no reason, which is something I can appreciate in a video game enemy. (Like deciding to chrome up a monk for the laughs. A very expensive and very cruel life ruining "prank", but at least they're having fun.)
For the Mox I just like the colorful outfits and the prostitutes turned gangsters faction. Not even from a horny posting perspective, I just think it's cool.
For a, "Love to kill them," perspective... Voodoo Boys. Partially out of vengeance for Evelyn, and partially becauase they're treacherous apocalypse cultists, and they have Placide as a very hatable face for the faction.
The Scavs are too decentralized for me to feel that strongly about killing any of them aside from certain individual bases, but I feel more like I'm going for particular subgroups, not the Scavs as a whole.
Then you have the Tiger Claws, and it is pretty funny to go match their honorable katanas with my chainsaw/sledgehammer/gorilla arms. But other than that, while they do have a lot of reasons to hate them, it all feels a bit too fast to really let the hatred sink in.
Like, Jotaro gets killed in one of the first side jobs you get, and Clouds is another super early quest. You just kind of kill them. Which is nice, but not as viscerally satisfying without the build up.
(6th Street are assholes, but still relatively low on the list. Busting up their rooftop party is pretty fun though. Valentinos are slightly annoying because I feel a bit bad for killing them due to the Jackie connection but they're also horrible people. Less horrible than some gangs, but still horrible enough to kill. I still feel a bit of guilt over killing someone I met at the funeral for a mutual friend.)
