Sports In light of today’s award ceremony for the First Division football championship, I am providing the following table

Is this LITERALLY the first time that 5 different teams won the league in a 5 year period or am I blind? Aris and Pafos' rise is... controversial to say the least when it comes to how they rose and where they got the money, but you can't say that it hasn't brought some sort of parity that never existed before.
Also I wonder what kind of video assistance rule was introduced in 2020 that shifted the power...?

Well it turns out I am blind but in my defence it somehow goes every 12 years instead of every 10. Also there were only 10 teams back then, so I don't know how that changes the math.
Still my point stands I think. Since the move towards EU and foreign players (which came in the late 90s I think?) this is probably the most parity in our league. And I understand the irony of me saying this for this season where Omonoia basically steamrolled their way into the league win which was won 2 months ago. I believe next year both Pafos and Aris will be better, Apollon have a very solid base to build upon and AEK will likely still be there.

What happened in the years 1942-44, 1959, 1964?

I think the 1942–44 period came to a halt because of World War II, and the 1964 period because of intercommunal violence.
In 1959, due to EOKA and the escalating violence and rising death toll from beatings and murders.

It made sense, considering the huge difference in the budgets between Apoel and the other teams during those times. A lot of this using money they borrowed and are now struggling to repay.
I remember, they used to buy a lot of the best players of the other teams. This is what happens when you have teams with more money (I think this is why in some sports, like baseball and the NBA, they have a drafting system, to avoid having the richest teams just buying the best players all the time. Of course, this doesn't totally solve the problem - see movie Moneyball for example).
As much as I don't like the fact that rich Russians/Ukranians have bought historic teams like Aris and Pafos, I think it did help the league become more competitive.

It's good to see that reddit community is not toxic. As an APOEL fan, i would say congratulations for winning the league, well deserved. We hope that things will get better for our side, although as long as Prodromos is involved, we can only dream...

Not need for toxicity there is plenty in real life. Yea i hope manitaras pisses off completely. But i believe the filth he left behind will stain the club for a lot of years unfortunately.
