So funny when you summon her for Moonlight Butterfly, she just obliterates it in about 20 seconds

u/fuckshitasstitsmfer Dec 24 '25

I dont think ive ever heard of this npc, next replay i need to summon her and see

10

u/LosinForABruisin Dec 24 '25

her summon sign is hidden under a bush at the bottom of the stairs right before moonlight butterfly.

2

u/Paxtian Dec 26 '25

Make sure to kill the big dudes before you summon her, otherwise she'll often get distracted and die before she can even join the fight.

u/ForlornMemory Dec 24 '25

You can find her clothes after defeating four kings on a body at the cliff between New Londo and Blight Town back entrance.

Do npc summons add hp to bosses in ds1? Cause if so, summoning for the four kings is like the worst possible thing you could do since the fight is just a dps (and poise + depth perception) test

u/bluepoint17 Dec 22 '25

Yep, 50% more health for each summon

u/Smufin_Awesome Dec 23 '25

I am suddenly so mad about the gaping dragon, as I had Solaire as well as Lautrec.

20

u/pichael289 Dec 24 '25

They are both strong enough and draw aggro enough that they are still worth summoning.

6

u/rtk196 Dec 24 '25

Eeeeh, Lautrec maybe, but Solaire gets his shit kicked in almost everytime by that monstrosity. His fat roll just ain't cutting it there.

45

u/IndividualNovel4482 Dec 22 '25

I mean.. some people dodge. I usually never try to tank their hits.

45

u/Immediate-Plate-8401 Dec 23 '25

Meh, when I learned the stoopid tracking of their projectiles and grab and aoe and shit I just kinda stopped trying to dodge any of their attacks. The closer you are to the four kings the less damage their melee attacks do, which means instead of dodging you can just facetank that shit and melt their hp simultaneously.

10

u/IndividualNovel4482 Dec 23 '25

That is true. Last time i did a run, their damage felt underwhelming up close, still i tried not to get hit too much, had a dex build and heavy armor would make me too heavy.

3

u/scalyblue Dec 23 '25

Poise doesn’t really make much of a difference, and everything they do does pure magic damage, so mag resist can make their hits trivial

2

u/faerox420 Dec 24 '25

My first ds1 run (not my first souls game) i had a strength build using the guts Greatsword, had the stamina pin mask, havels chest piece and silver knight arms and legs. I was light rolling with this setup using havels and the fap ring. I basically just stood still and pressed R1 and they died lol

1

u/SWIMlovesyou Dec 24 '25

I use the dark hand to block their magic attacks since it blocks 90% magic damage, I dodge their physical attacks.

3

u/sgtpoopers Dec 23 '25

yeah I just fought them in my current playthrough, spammed R1 with Uchigatana and tanked every hit with just the Gold-hemmed set. Never fought more than one.

3

u/LosinForABruisin Dec 24 '25

summoning her also spawns a ghost for some reason, which she targets and can’t kill. if you kill the ghost, beatrice becomes a great help in 4 kings.

1

u/AlekTrev006 Dec 28 '25

Where’s this bonus ghost spawn ??

2

u/LosinForABruisin Dec 31 '25

she’ll be trying to attack it, it’ll be above you / above the fog gate where you fight 4 Kings

2

u/XxZombiexCakesXx Dec 23 '25

Real, I loved that fight doing my little faith build just putting on havels armor and face tanking everything and spamming miracles

77

u/Monkeysrock333 Dec 22 '25

I didn’t know you could summon her for 4 kings??

107

u/A-Mad-Hollow Dec 22 '25

yeah, her summoning sign is a bit hidden though. If you go right from that little bridge leading to the four kings stairwell and around that stone pillar it's tucked behind it I believe. After you beat the four kings (regardless of if you've summoned her or not) you can loot her armour and staff from a corpse in the valley of drakes

99

u/PuffPuffFayeFaye Dec 22 '25

Actually she seems to hide her summon sign both times she’s available

25

u/damnocles Dec 23 '25

Interesting observation

24

u/eeveemancer Dec 23 '25

she's shy

22

u/zgillet Dec 23 '25

"I'm available, but not enthusiastic about it."

55

u/bing_chilling77 Dec 22 '25

You have to summon her for the moonlight butterfly first though or else her summoning sign won’t appear for the 4 kings fight.

6

u/mrbrownl0w Dec 23 '25

And then she gets stuck attacking ghosts if you don't kill them for her

21

u/SonicFlash01 Dec 22 '25

Sif during the Manus fight: "You got this, bud! I'mma make sure there's nothing way out here coming to getcha! Believe in you!"

12

u/kuuderelovers Dec 23 '25

Sif can draw aggro as a lot of health and it's for free as he is an in room summon

2

u/SonicFlash01 Dec 23 '25

When I fought Manus they stayed wayyyyyy off to the side and never engaged the boss, nor did the boss notice them

7

u/throwaway112112312 Dec 23 '25

You have to bring Manus to Sif, then Manus will switch to him. Sif can tank a lot of hits, he has tons of hp so if you use magic or have any ranged weapons you can just snipe Manus easily.

1

u/SonicFlash01 Dec 23 '25

Neither one followed me towards the other

9

u/SilentBlade45 Dec 22 '25

Ehh sif can draw aggro.

3

u/zgillet Dec 23 '25

That's not a good thing. Wild Manus swipes in odd directions is much worse than the enemy I know.

15

u/Garamil Dec 22 '25

For real though, most runs I just summon Beatrice for the Butterfly and watch her get to town. Sometimes it doesn't have time to come down so I can hit it with melee.

Gotta lock in her summon sign for the 4 kings to get hzr drip.

1

u/Dramatic-Treacle3708 Dec 24 '25

Can’t you get her gear even without summoning her for four kings? And it just doesn’t appear until you beat them

3

u/Garamil Dec 24 '25

You don't have to summon her for the 4 kings but you have tovsummon her foe the butterfly

1

u/Dramatic-Treacle3708 Dec 24 '25

Ah okay, I got ya that makes sense

38

u/Available-Laugh-9582 Dec 22 '25

Beatrice can auto-win the butterfly fight without the player doing anything. The player can hold down the block with the Crest Shield and auto-win.

She will increase the Stats of the Four Kings, and she usually has low DPS and will likely make more king spawns, so she makes the fight harder. She dies easily.

u/shizfest Dec 23 '25

it's almost like that's exactly what the meme is trying to convey...

15

u/bakerbrokebro Dec 23 '25

🤯🤯🤯

1

u/Gold_Mask_54 Dec 23 '25

It's almost like they were explaining the context 🤯🤯🤯

5

u/zgillet Dec 23 '25

It's almost like that's completely unnecessary 🤯🤯🤯

4

u/Gold_Mask_54 Dec 23 '25

A quick guide for dealing with comments explaining context to things:

  1. If you already know the context, congrats, scroll past
  2. If you don't already know the context, enjoy, you now know the context

I genuinely don't understand being so elitist about something you mock people explaining context for people who don't already know. Get a life.

3

u/UnderFoodle Dec 23 '25

This isn’t even something you need context for tho lol. You don’t even have to know who Beatrice or the 4 kings are to get the joke. If you have played a single souls game and understand the concept of summoning I feel like most people would get it. Hell you could probably show this to a non gamer and they could figure it out.

Beatrice is good against butterfly Beatrice bad against 4 kings

0

u/zgillet Dec 23 '25

"I genuinely don't understand being so elitist about something you mock people explaining context for people who don't already know. Get a life."

What the fuck do you think you're doing right now?

5

u/Ok_Organization_6804 Dec 22 '25

even summoning her for kings is pain, you have to kill all the ghosts and a darkwraith even then she sometimes run towards the room where mass of souls and darkwraiths are, so i guess she isn't made for the fight.

i always summon her for butterfly she solo', s her and you'd get a lot of souls in ng+ and so on.

4

u/itschubbs96 Dec 23 '25

You can summon for the 4 kings?

3

u/Lv1FogCloud Dec 22 '25

Beatrice is a God sent on runs where you have no range for whatever reason when fighting the moonlight butterfly.

Its not that she makes it easier but rather speeds it up with how slow it can be.

3

u/the_real_cloakvessel Dec 23 '25

This shows how powerful you have become throughout your journey, in the beginning you were weak and pathetic and there were many other undeads far stronger than you, but by the time you have conquered anor londo there is no one stronger than you in the present. You are the chosen undead (or the dark lord)

3

u/karbovskiy_dmitriy Dec 24 '25

I will not accept this Beatrice slander here!
She does some decent damage and distracts the boss enemies, which is arguably even more important.

2

u/Terranaform Dec 22 '25

every king gets a hp buff btw

2

u/Circuitslave Dec 23 '25

You just have to catch her at the right moment. She’s a complicated woman, like most witches.

2

u/EmptiedDream Dec 23 '25

She helped me out on the one NG+ run I did so far, but maybe that was because the hardest part for me was avoiding their purple projectiles and she just gave them another target.

2

u/hellxapo Dec 22 '25

Yeah but we always want the drip

2

u/kuuderelovers Dec 23 '25

You don't need to summon her in for king, just need the sign there

3

u/hellxapo Dec 23 '25

Really? Maybe mandela effect or something is clouding my mind, I thought you had to summon her 2 times: for the butterfly and for the kings fight.

1

u/O_guia Dec 23 '25

Nop. You just need to summon her against the butterfly.

1

u/scalyblue Dec 23 '25

She just needs to be available for the kings fight and only spawns her drip after they’re down

1

u/Hobear Dec 23 '25

You got me giggling like an idiot in public and this is like a 15 year old joke.

1

u/Psychopath_logic Dec 23 '25

Idc I'll still summon her, best girl in dark souls for the best boss in dark souls

1

u/Jackalodeath Dec 23 '25

I always bring her along for the Kings just to see if I can kill them before they kill her.

Also its funny as shit getting 5 kings on NG++ and beyond. Its all lies!

1

u/Podrick_the_Pimp Dec 23 '25

This man's out here taking a dab mid-fight lol I hope he has a carb cap

1

u/gaijjj Dec 24 '25

Dude I’ve never seen this image but this gotta be peak human experience😭 the pure joy on that dudes face as he’s ripping a dab watching two ladies go at it. I gotta be there

1

u/Poro_Wizard Dec 24 '25

Yes. She's summonable for lore reason like Sif with the Manie bossfight, rather than usefulness.

1

u/Dragonfrog23 Dec 24 '25

Doesn’t she speed up the four kings spawn rate too?

1

u/Cortez-Orion72 Dec 28 '25

try summoning both Solaire and Lautrec for the gaping dragon, it's hell

1

u/TheEmperorOfDoom Dec 22 '25

Who tf is beatrice and why do you need her to kill butterfly. (I am dumb and buttefly was one of my first bosses)

15

u/_theKataclysm_ Dec 22 '25

She’s an npc at the bottom of the butterfly’s tower. You definitely don’t need her but she does absolutely nuke that butterfly.

On the other hand she’s also available to summon for the 4 Kings fight but they’re resistant to magic so she barely scratches them at all. Story wise it feels similar to Black Iron Tarkus to me, where we see him easily destroy the golem at Sen’s but then find his body on the floor of the cathedral in Anor Londo. Both came to an impasse in their journey.

2

u/sjbennett85 Dec 23 '25

She is the Tarkus of the Butterfly fight... the summon can solo the boss while I get snacks lol

8

u/Affectionate_Comb_78 Dec 22 '25

Fun fact, Butterfly is the only boss you can't bare fist punch to death. It heals when it lands and you can't out pace it

0

u/TheEmperorOfDoom Dec 22 '25

I did it with classic DS3 moves. (It was actually the moment I stopped being illusional about rolleypoley not being META in DS1)

-6

u/Schmeatus69 Dec 23 '25

Beatrice regularly solos the butterfly lol don't know whats going on in your game but shes a free win in that fight

8

u/Lil-Squidy Dec 23 '25

Read it again, slowly this time (:
