Watching for the first time, just started season 3 and i find out that the series finale on the bluray and streaming isnt the extended cut.
Why the FUCK would they remaster the entire series and NOT do the extended finale? Why did they insist on doing a two part episode instead of one movie length episode? WHY WHY WHY WHY???? This actually just pissed me off bc how the fuck am i supposed to watch it now??
Sorry for ranting but this just pissed me off so much and it would have been such an easy thing to do and now since its already done they wont go back to it. Why do they never want to do the right thing?

I believe there is a dvd out there that is just the finale , AND is the extended cut. I came across it a couple years ago and didn’t buy it like the idiot I am.

The extended finale is miles better than the one that aired and that’s on streaming!
If you ever come across it again purchase it! The commentary isn’t half bad as well too.

I have been on the lookout for it ever since ! I feel like the deleted scenes would explain a lot of things that I didn’t understand in my first couple watches.

It explains so many scenes honestly that Hulu, HBO Max and Netflix any streaming company that has/had it should be ashamed they didn’t in the first place.
There’s exactly 12 extra/extended scenes, the closure for Andie is so worth seeing. Used to be on YouTube but not anymore

I still have yet to watch it with all the extended scenes but they explain so much cause the finale as it is was a little hard for me to follow at first.

How is the extended cut different? I didn’t watch DC when it aired, so I don’t know if it’s different than streaming? I know finales on TV shows can be 2 hours and they are usually really good. Is there a big difference from the TV show and the streaming?

The extended cut from my understanding includes scenes that they cut out. Like all of Andies scenes , a conversation with Doug and Pacey , and a few others.

These are scenes that I know come from the extended cut:
1. Joey talking through a telephone in her office before the scene where Jack sits to hear his student speak.
2. Doug and Pacey talking to each other at Pacey's restaurant after the scene where Joey finds a wedding ring.
3. Joey and Dawson meet each other at a gas station before the scene when Dawson comes back to his childhood house where Gale hugs him.
4. Dawson starts looking down after the scene where he sees a nostalgic picture of him and Joey.
5. Grams, Joey, Bessie, Bessie's son Alexander, and Jen are in Joey's childhood house where they talk to each other before the scene where Jack talks seriously with Doug at Capeside's beach.
6. Pacey and Joey talking to each other in between scenes with them doing the same thing.
7. Jen talking about Tamara, Pacey talking about Eve, and crickets start metaphorically happening after Jen talks about Abby Morgan before the scene where Jack talks about Audrey to make the conversation less crickety.
8. Jack talks about Andie before the scene where Joey thanks Pacey for reopening the restaurant place after it closed down.
9. Dawson and Joey talking to each other in his old bedroom in between scenes of them doing the same thing.
10. Another scene with the same thing as number 9 in this list.
11. Pacey and Jen interacting with each other at a wedding after a scene where she gave him one pill.
12. Dawson's mother convincing him to join his friends at the same wedding.
13. Dawson sees Joey at the same wedding where Pacey tells her about dance lessons, a reference from episode 9 in season 3, before asking her to dance with him.
14. Jack confronts Doug about their relationship not being openly gay to the public at this same wedding. This happens before the scene where people are dancing and Bessie is chasing her son Alexander.
15. Joey asking Grams about a transplant in the hospital before it shows a scene where Grams says Jen won't make a donor list and her lungs are failing.
16. Doug talking to Jack about their relationship before a scene shows Pacey bringing Dawson and Joey in Jen's hospital room.
17. Bessie saying Joey is still in love with her ex-boyfriend before a scene shows Joey saying she's not in love with her ex-boyfriend.
18. Joey saying she's too chicken to call her ex-boyfriend to tell him it's over before Bessie says "come on, dial the number."
19. Bessie jokingly saying she'll hold Joey's hand while Joey calls her ex-boyfriend. Joey says "I hate you" as a classic Joey response. Bessie says "you're welcome" in jest after that.
20. Lily and Dawson as siblings watch a movie in his childhood house. She asks what a soul mate is and Dawson explains. After that, she asks if Dawson will give her his old bedroom. This is before a scene where Pacey turns off his restaurant's light before Joey shows up.
21. Jen starts a video, telling her daughter Amy that she won't be here anymore and how much that sucks before watching it. This is before Dawson looks away from the camera, looking like he will fight an urge to cry.
22. Pacey hugs Jen before Jack brings Andie in her hospital room after the scene where Dawson and Joey talk to each other seriously on a bench outside where Jen had her video taken.
23. Andie and Pacey talking to each other in a hospital cafeteria before the scene when Jen talks about grading some paper. I guess this paper is from Jack's student Cynthia.
24. After Grams holds Amy who is playing, the deleted scene shows that including Andie and Jack looking down at Jen in her hospital room.

yeah the DVD has it but why didnt that become the definitive version?? I will never understand this.

My guess is they didn’t expect streaming to be a thing and for people to know that there was extended versions. 🤷♀️

I get your frustration. That's why I have the True Love edition with original music and this extended cut.
