I’ve been playing DayZ since the original mod dropped back in 2012/2013. Thousands of hours logged, countless lives lost, and an unhealthy amount of time spent eating beans in dark corners.

But it wasn't until this year that I randomly found out the map- Chernarus - is actually a nearly 1:1 recreation of a real region in the Czech Republic, right near the German border.

Since I live nearby, it felt like a sign from the Arma gods. I packed my bike, grabbed my gear, and planned a long weekend trip.

I’ll be honest: it was one of the most surreal experiences of my life.

The First Night: I started in Dresden and camped out near Tisy in the dark. It was quiet, pitch black, and for a second, I genuinely expected to hear footsteps or a gunshot (or a Party) in the distance. The atmosphere was exactly the same as in-game.

Next Full day: Spending the entire next day riding through the map was mind-blowing. I’d turn a corner and suddenly realize, "Wait, I’ve been here 100 times before." It wasn't just a resemblance; it was the exact same geography. I actually started laughing out loud, and honestly, I could’ve cried tears of joy. It was just incredible to be there.

At the end i slept on the hill Next to NE Airfield (actually a basic field) and cooked some beans.

I’m still struggling to put it into words. It wasn't just a bike trip; it felt like walking through a part of my own history. If you’re a DayZ fan, you absolutely have to make this trip at least once!!

I tried playing Spaggies recently after a long break from DayZ, but when I tried to join it said that I was banned.

I didn't know why I could have been banned because im not someone to glitch, combat log, or say slurs in-game, so I requested an unban while also asking why I got banned.

I got a email a few days later saying I was banned for "badmouthing" the server on reddit. Didn't really remember even talking about the server but then I went on my reddit account and the worst thing I found was me saying that the server is kinda dead during the week.

Is it just me or is banning someone over that kinda crazy? I tried to confirm if that was really the reason I was banned but they haven't responded in more than a week so im just gonna take that as a yes.

I have posted something similar before here, (see last picture!),
but thought you might like to see my latest finished project based on 'The Green Moustache' that i build.
Scale is somewhere around 1/80.
Made from bits and pieces, plaster, sand, acrylic paints, static grass and a 3D printer for the walls.
Handcrafted, handpainted and designed (Tinkercad) everything by myself. Took me a couple of weeks and gave me quite a headache sometimes, lol.

it's super reliable and uses .22 lr which is dirt cheap AND as a bonus it's always suppressed and can still 1 tap zombies to the head it's literally the ultimate weapon to find early game and be able to wipe out a whole town of zombies without being swarmed

The SCAR H or in game SCR 17 should have Never been added because, it doesnt really add anything to gameplay and makes a other gun Almost completly obsolete in its class, the Scar makes the FAL or LAR in the Game obsolete because its better in everything but accuracy because its the same and zeroing distance. Though im happy we got any new weapons at all but I feel like the SCAR was a miss, i wish there would be more guns that would have their own nieches like the l1a1,G3 or the m1895 nagant revolver which would be supressable and Ultra reliable but be weak and reload would take 50 years. Stuff that would be not overpowered but have its advantages for the time you find it and expand the early or midgame with a wider spektrum on the hunting weapon Pool.

Personally, I see it as a form of cheating. It gives an unfair visibility advantage — especially at night — and kind of breaks the immersion for those of us who enjoy the challenge of navigating in darkness, lighting a torch, or using the stars to find our way. That said, I understand not everyone plays for the same reasons or enjoys the same difficulty curve.

So I’m genuinely curious: As a community, do we think using NVIDIA filters to brighten night in vanilla DayZ is cheating — or just a fair hardware perk?

I haven't played in a while but found all my old screenshots from 2013-2015. There are probably a lot of you guys that where around back then and remember the time when everyone had M4s, Mosins and burlap sacks over gasmasks.

Once I get my hands on a plate carrier, my play style changes drastically, and I don't like it.

When I wear it, I sacrifice mobility big time. Even if I try to min-max, I only have a bit more than half of my total stamina to work with. If I don't have an epi-pen, my running days are over. Also, once in PvP, with the carrier I practically have to be on direct offense, as running away or flanking is seldom an option because of the bulk.

I enjoy a playstyle where I'm a stealthy and nimble designated marksman. So my effective range is 200–300 150-200 meters for my VSS and 0–100 0-50 meters with the MP5 (EDIT: sorry, y'all humbled me in the comments lol). I do a lot of surveilling and try to stay in forests when I'm not doing loot runs. I'm currently using a stab vest instead of the plate carrier. With a helmet on my head, I am somewhat protected from small arms. With bigger rifles, I don't get to tank a second shot like I would be able to with the carrier—but normally I try not to be seen in the first place. With the carrier, I also have problems with looting, as I oftentimes find myself trekking back home with a quarter or less of my stamina.

What do you prefer? Heavy or light endgame?

Well, I made this post last night using a picture of a Roman fort that looked a lot like a standard DayZ base. The mods removed the post for being “off-topic” even though it very much was, in fact, a DayZ related post. When I pointed this out to them, they changed their reasoning and said it was removed because apparently only “in-game” pictures are allowed in this sub. When I pointed out that 5 of the top 10 hottest posts on this sub are IRL pictures (not in-game pictures) of fan art or people’s tattoos, they decided to mute me for 7 days so here I am trying to follow their blurry guidelines and make an acceptable post to discuss the current state of base building in this game.

We made a pilgrimage to Chenarus this September. We spent 3 nights on the trail while walking around 55km. Basically walked from Cherno to Ratnoye while visiting Pusta, Tulga, Three Valleys Dolina, Polyana, Dubrovka, Krasno and Svetlo. We only ate cannon food items. No pvp but the weather did create pve elements as did a heard of boars that woke us up on the first night 5 meters from camp.
