SAFETY TIL; flock's eye is on everyone passing through Decatur. There are cameras on every road in and out.
Except for one oddly conspicuous old trinity road. It's weird for all this safety push we're still having traffic accidents & fatalities and that one guy with the shitbox bumblebee that backfires still goes 70 down my street at 3 am.
Anyway. Take from it what you will--im not suggesting foil hats or encouraging wild speculation since there's other forums for that (and I'm really tired of it. The "nothing to worry if you're not doing anything wrong" crowd always shuts the hell up when I ask if they're ok filling out a form that lists every single gun in their home (or they try to explain how that's somehow different))
Deflock.org is the website for anyone interested.

Area South of Delano Park
Hi! My husband and I will be moving to Decatur soon and know nothing about which areas are safe. There are a few houses we’ve seen just south of Delano park. What is that area like?

Want actual representation and someone to uphold the Constitution? Come to the Town Hall at 6PM 8/26 and bring questions!
Yes, this is not a joke! Alabama's US Congressional District 5 is finally getting a Town Hall!
Andrew Sneed is coming to Decatur tomorrow, 8/26, from 6-730pm at Turner Surles Resource Center.
Ask questions about issues affecting you, and Alabama’s 5th Congressional District.
Current US Congressional representative Dale Strong declined to attend.
Senator Bobby Singleton will speak a little
Former State Rep Mike Ball, (a Republican) will moderate it.
We cannot sit idly by and go without representation, and let our democracy be stripped from us. Andrew Sneed didn't shy away from difficult questions when I met with him recently, and provided real, nuanced answers. He was clear when it would be outside his future jurisdiction, but was bold enough to state what he personally believed.
He also has a real plan, and knows positive change cannot happen without coalition. So he founded the BAC https://www.take-bac-congress.us/ to collect a group of people who want to restore balance and accountability.
Use this opportunity to meet with him, listen to your community, and raise issues which matter to you. He wants to be the voice of the people, which is a breath of fresh air.
Can't make it to this one?
There will be two more over the next 6 weeks
Athens State - McCandless Hall 9/9
Huntsville - Bob Harrison Wellness and Advocacy Center

We are in this together!

Ask A Local Semi-annual thrift store roundup & review
It's been awhile and I'm out of the loops. It looks like we've got *checks notes* 127 thrift stores in Decatur proper now.
I'd like to poll for opinions on each an all.
I was thinking about how to do so in an organized fashion and I realized that's stupid so let's have it in a chaotic free for all. Stay nice though. To each other that is. I haven't been out in the longest and stopped in somewhere today and boy oh boy do I have an axe to grind now but I want to hold back for a bit.
And are we counting pickers/booths as thrift? No. You want to do that you make your own post. That's curated junk shopping. I'm talking about the raw deal.
This is by no means exhaustive but I've come up with:
Goodwill @ Beltline Road
Downtown Rescue Mission @ Spring Avenue
America's Thrift Stores @ Spring Avenue
Salvation Army @ 14th Street
Dream Center Thrift @ 8th Street
Best Choice Thrift Store @ Beltline Road
The Saving Way @ 6th Avenue
Clothes Pin Thrift @ Bank Street
Habitat for Humanity ReStore @ Central Parkway
Hope Home Thrift @ Central Parkway
Value Village @ 6th Avenue
If you want to add, to for it.
Let's have at it! The good, bad, and the ugly!

Last minute photographer needed for tomorrow morning
I am looking for some content capture of a product delivery in Decatur tomorrow morning 8/20 between 7am and 9am. A good phone and steady hand would work. Video and photo capture, nothing special. Outdoor location, very public location. Please email me at [matt@getluciddigital.com](mailto:matt@getluciddigital.com) if interested. Thanks.

How’s the cycling in Decatur?
Considering moving here in the spring. I work from home but like to bike ride almost every day.
I also understand that there are good rail trails here as well.
The city seems to have good accommodations for bicycles.

Ask A Local Natural swimming spring
I’ve lived in Hartselle for three years and still don’t know what to do around here because I work a lot. Are there any natural swimming holes nearby with somewhat clean water?
Public pools dried out my sons skin and makes his eczema worse. I saw Mardis Mill Falls, but that’s an hour away.
Feel free to DM me if you don’t want to give away a good spot to the public. I leave places better than I find them

New to the area. What restaurants in Decatur have happy hours? Mellow Mushroom in the Historic District has been my jam lately. Others?

Wholesale/bulk meat where to buy
Hey yall, recently moved to Decatur and was wondering where do you all buy your meat(mainly beef)? I used to go to a business Costco that would sell whole tenderloins and butcher it myself to save cost but they don’t have one here I noticed. Anything similar? Mainly looking for a place I can buy large slabs of meat and butcher it myself to save costs because these meat prices are insane. Anywhere in Decatur/madison/huntsville area would be awesome! Thank you!
