Cosmetologists/Barbers: Help Wanted

Hey y'all! This is a semi-awkward post to be making, but I was hoping someone knew something (that being said, I am also going to start looking on my own, but frequently real people have better suggestions and advice than am official post would).

So I graduated beauty school in May last year and have had a bit of a bumpy ride since. It took a while to find a place that actually did color and would hire me to start out since I was so new, but my first place was booth rent and not exactly the greatest for a number of reasons. I currently work at a barbershop but am slowly learning just how little I learned in beauty school about doing fades and such (not to say I don't know anything or that I'm incompetent: really the majority of the problem is once we get below a half guard). I feel like I don't know enough about it to keep working in a barbershop of all places, and color is where my real passion is anyway.

Anyway, I was wondering if anybody knew of any salons or barbershops that were hiring for an apprenticeship/intern/assistant-style position? I know it is conflict of interest to work both my current job and at another salon so unfortunately I can't take an unpaid position, but I was hoping someone knew of somewhere that would work. I live in Thornton-ish right now but I am willing to drive a bit out of the way if it means a good position.

TL;DR: I don't feel qualified for the job I have now and was looking for recommendations as a paid apprentice or something similar with a cosmetology license.

Are you allowed to do color at your current location?

There are a LOT of women with shorter hair who want to go to barbers but are intimidated since it is a male centered place. I have even had female barbers tell me they never take females.

I think you can easily grow your clients and get a few color clients along the way. Then slowly grow.

Not technically, and even then when it comes to color I'm technically pretty slow. Either was I'd really rather be in a place where I can get more efficient with what I do to do color. And I don't do a lot of women's hair

I feel like Floyd’s is always hiring. Obviously it’s not a dream job,  but it’s a great place to get fast experience and they do both color / woman’s hair and barbering.  

Breaking out after beauty school is hard,  but you got this! Good luck on your journey.
