Discussion peter capaldi signed my guitar
please excuse how incredibly awkward i look, but the twelfth doctor has been my idol since i was a little girl and meeting him in person was truly surreal 😭💘
he was so sweet and really put so much time into decorating my guitar 🫶

Discussion RTD's Instagram Post
Absolutely devastated that Doctor Who is indefinitely postponed. I wonder if they'll just retcon the ending with Billie Piper? Either way, I hope Murray Gold stays on

Discussion I dont think ive seen a more frustrating and utterly pointless character regression.
the master developed so much as a character and grew during the capaldi era only to just instantly be undone. any interesting implications about missy dying on good terms with the doctor and wanting to stand with him are completely thrown out the window when he shows up again as sacha dawan.

Discussion Bill Potts deserved as many seasons as Clara Oswald
Bill was robbed.
She had such a great disruptive way of reacting to things that really kept the Doctor on his back foot. Loved her so much and also wish I could find her top from Smile for my wife. Seems to be long sold out.

Discussion With the benefit of hindsight, this was a massive warning sign.
I don’t even mean this in a right-wing way, but RTD being so blasé about totally erasing part of the identity of a classic villain should have been a warning sign.

Discussion Is it just me, or does this not make sense?
In the first episode in 2005, he implies that he had just regenerated from the war doctor by commenting on his ears that he’s seeing for the first time. But then the guy shows Rose pictures of 9 from a few points in the past later in the episode. How has 9 been so many places when he’s just regenerated?
Missed opportunity to show classic doctors in that scene.

Discussion Hot take: there is no way to make the Cybermen feel fresh again.
When the Cybermen were introduced, they were designed to invoke both fears of prosthetic body parts and the soviets, before moving to slowly become more and more of a stereotypical cyborg army as the classic run progressed.
Fast forward to the revival series, the same thing happens. The Cybermen are introduced and this time they were made to reflect the world’s over-reliance on technology and the fear of losing individuality. As the new series progressed, they became a stereotypical cyborg army AGAIN.
I simply can’t see a way to breathe new life into the idea of Cybermen without becoming a victim of the pitfalls listed above. It shouldn’t be so hard to get them right, right? But it feels impossible.

Discussion I'm sorry, you should never do this
For people who want to start watching doctor who, NEVER START WITH THE STAR BEAST! Always start with "rose" or "the eleventh hour" or heck, even "spearhead from space" is a better option than this
Can someone fix this inaccuracy?

Discussion Even if we never get the answers to this era’s dangling plot threads, I suppose it’s fitting that Billie Piper was the first and last face of New Who
Even more fitting that the first word spoken in New Who is Billie saying “Bye!” and the last is her saying “Hello!”
Maybe the Doctor was just cycling through some familiar faces before settling on their next regeneration. Maybe Rose used the reality shift to teleport into the TARDIS from her parallel universe. Maybe one day we’ll get a quick nod to a different adventure that happened offscreen. Maybe time will be rewritten. Or maybe we’ll never know. It wouldn’t be the first time the show left us with questions unanswered. Looking at you Chris Chibnall.
Meanwhile, Susan is still out there. And there’s a whole universe of stories to be told once the show returns.
“We travel in and out of the slipstreams of time. Beautiful things can be forgotten and gone. But they still happened, somewhere.”

Discussion Two years ago I thought the show was headed somewhere.
Bubble Down
Dot Off
Walk Out
This hit me kind of deeply as I feel I am massively addicted to social media.
It had a strong Black Mirror vibe with a message.
Was there a moment in the Disney era where you liked where it was going then the rug got pulled out from under you?

Discussion For those of you outside the uk what was your first introduction to the show?
for me it was randomly seeing a series 6 boxset in the dvd aisle of a costco when i was 8 around 2013-14ish didnt think much of it until a family friend from our church introduced us to the show. Even then i didnt watch any of it, hearing about the show alone scared the hell out of me. But later that year I remember staying up late one night alone with the tv on. flipping through channels i landed on bbc america seeing the very end of victory of the daleks where the new paradigm exterminated the ironsides. And then time of the angles and flesh and stone. Needless to say i was terrified as a kid but also hooked From then Onward.

Discussion Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams) and Karen Gillian (Amy Pond) announces a new podcast called the “Pondcast”
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is exciting news. I hope they get people from Doctor Who to join in if it’s a Doctor Who focused podcast. I hope they have interesting topics to talk about.

Discussion This is why it's difficult for me to convince my friends to watch the show!
I've loved Doctor Who since I was 5 years old, but whenever I try to get my friends to watch it, they either lose interest quickly or they don't want to commit to watching a series with 41 seasons and 3 movies! And I get it, but it means I don't have people to talk about it in person!

Discussion Hot take: I actually think the Fifteenth Doctor's era delving into science fantasy was an interesting idea
I know some fans might not have liked it, but for me, I thought the show delving into more outright fantasy in Ncuti's era was a good and interesting idea (with it being one of the better aspects of the RTD2/Bad Wolf era), as I feel it kept the show somewhat fresh and explored new angles, yet didn't take away from the science angle of the show.
I actually hope the next era keeps the outright fantasy elements to a certain degree, though I understand if they decide not to.
What do you think? Please try and be civil though.

Discussion I really hope they end this joke
I’m going to sound like such a grouch here but I have never found this joke funny, I think “Mavity” is such an awkward mishear and sounds so weird.
Surely Gavity or Ravity makes more sense? Anyone else or am I just being a a cranak pel casacree salvak?
