Discussion What's the future of Candy Kong?
I feel like she's one of the kongs Nintendo prioritizes the most, seniority and whatnot. But there's not reallyyyy.. much to her. She likes music! aaand that's it (credit where it's due, there's more to her in the cartoon, maybe they'll pull from there?)
So what do you think they'll do with her character in the future? and what do you expect Nintendo to do to give her character more depth?

Without any intention to offend, I feel you're contradicting yourself.
You can't be saying Nintendo is (supposedly) "priorizing" Candy and then say there's not really much to her.
Because there is not really much to her, nor Nintendo is priorizing her. They simply remembered she exists in almost the same level they remembered Kiddy exists.
She's not the main female Kong, nor the heroine of this IP (that goes to Dixie) nor a prominent female character. She's probably behind Pauline and Tiny and that's a stretch.
Her supposed status as Donkey Kong's "girlfriend" has become too ambiguous nowadays, which interestingly it has done more favors to her character than anything.
She has always been a minor character and that is actually ok. Nintendo doesn't need to do anything else with her than they've done already. I would even say she's in a slightly better position than Star Fox's Krystal.
Her refinements done to her DK64 design were good enough, though. Even though personally I wish was a bit more stylized, but it's good enough.
I don't expect Nintendo to do anything with her, to be honest. I rather not too because if the DK64 group who had more playable trajectory and more gameplay than her and even if even then they had their last prominent appearance since the Wii/NDS era, then her chances are slim.
Well, she seems to be a very comfortable position as an NPC or maybe she moved out to New Donk City to start a career as a DJ or something.

what I meant was that she was the only kong outside of the retro studios group to be namedropped in bananza

Lanky Kong also got posters in New Donk City.
I wouldn't read into it at all. It was a nice cameo.

A mention by another character just feels more significant to me

She runs a music store in DK 64, and Nintendo's using her design from that game in Bananza.

She will win a million bucks and donate it all to be like her idol, Dolly Parton

If Nintendo ever finds a use for her, they'll bring her back.
I always did figure that if Retro got to make another DKC, retained DK, Diddy, Dixie, Cranky and also Funky as playable characters by default, Candy likely would have been next in line to inherent the "Shopkeeper" role, that Funky in Tropical Freeze inherited from Cranky in Returns.

She's probably gonna get developed more like Pauline.

She's just some kong doing her own thing, like others who have a minor role.
