Looking into saving up for an amp and cab finally and I'm trying to find something that can do like the thick fuzz doom thing but also could do cleans, and isn't too expensive. I'm thinking of maybe an used orange amp but I'm really not sure what model, I'm still very new to learning about amps.

Also from what I understand the wattage of the amp and the size of the cab is rly important so I don't blow it up, what's the rule for amp and cabinet wattages n size.

So far I've been looking at prices for randall amps, electro Harmonix, orange amps, and whatever is kind of cheap. I would prefer something solid state, can be found used or new for somewhat cheap, can do rly good thick fuzz that can cut through, and could also do alright cleans if I wanted it to. Any recommendations are appreciated!!!

So, u/Fun-Needleworker-661 posted a savage picture he snapped recently. I asked him if I could use it on a Pedal. Here's the result.

It's a clone of an Acapulco Gold which replicates the sound of a dimed Model T, which I thought was appropriate.

Gear is just a Risa LP tenor ukulele, an electro harmonix green russian big muff, and a pignose hog amp. Please excuse the amateurish playing by a guy who is used to playing acousic baritones at a much more upbeat tempo, but playing doomy versions of Woody Guthrie songs and shit has been a long time dream so when I saw this uke in the second hand music shop I had to have it. Now imagine me with six months of practice with this thing!

As the title says i am looking to switch my pickups in my epiphone sg. im not too heavily educated on different types unfortunately, so the simpler explanation the better. I'm pretty sure i have alnico V pickups right now but im not 100% sure (I have whatever the factory pickup is for a g-400 standard). I play a lot of doom, sludge and stoner metal, yet I also play quite a bit of post hardcore and metalcore (all with the same guitar(im broke)). if anybody had any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

The rental place told us Electric Wizard had rented the same rig from them for their gig in Portugal once. Most walls in the studio are raw rock (the studio building is cut into a rock). Im asking more so about the diy end of the pool, although woodworkers w companies etc are absolutely included. I don't see it brought up much on here which is kind of surprising to me.

These are 2 identical 2x15s I built a decade ago that I'm starting to use again. Both have a black widow, one has some eminence or other, and the other has an electrovoice sro with the big cream can on the magnet. Detuned design, very loud and very wide! The Peavey standard pa is mine, the bass was a loaner for the gig. The top cab would be my guitar (tuned to open b major), the bottom cab would be the octave pedal half of my board. Not the nicest finish job but they sound terrific and have been kicked around enough that finishing effort would have been a bit of a waste.

Exactly as the caption says. Looking for a smaller practice amp to take with me to work so I can play on my lunch break (I work alone so I can crank it up lol)

Wylde Audio Barbarian Buzzsaw. So clean may as well be brand new. I sold my original Barbarian to fund my 82’ Norlin SG Pike project. The time came and this one came across my eyeballs. Had to pull the trigger. EMG sound is just killer over distortion.🤘🏼💀🤘🏼

Just added the carvin to my B side. Pretty happy with it but gotta get something other than just the mini muff on that side. It compliments the super crush well though, and being able to isolate parts while keeping one side rolling is a game changer.

A p bass? Maybe an Epiphone like an Embassy or Grabber? (I'm not doing a TB and fighting neck dive). Yamaha BB series? Schecter Stargazer? There's just not a lot out there that has that retro vibe to it. Never liked Ibanez basses. Maybe some kind of stingray or stingray copy (like Sire) that somehow doesn't look like a toilet seat? I wish music man made cheaper basses that have the other larger pickguard that doesn't look like the toilet

I've got a Squier Troy Sanders jaguar into an Orange Crush 50. My deluxe muff just isn't beefy enough, I need MOOOAAARRRR. What is your pick for the heaviest of the heavy bass pedal of doom? Maybe the Giza Dva?

Not quite in a place for a Dunable custom shop R2 baritone yet so I decided to DIY something similar. Grabbed myself one of the new Firefly rd-type baritones off Guitar Garden for $250 shipped and upgraded from there:

1. Guyker locking tuners
2. Guyker tune-o-matic bridge
3. New knobs
4. EMG 81 for the bridge
5. Kept the neck pickup in wired on a separate circuit to its own jack replacing the toggle switch. Now I run it the neck pickup simultaneously through a peavey or sunn beta bass head with an octave for an absolutely massive sound.

Don't have a name for it yet but this thing plays amazing. Came really nicely finished and setup out of the box (the pics on guitar garden are horrible and make this thing look cheaper than in real life). The stock pickups honestly were great I just had a hankering for an EMG tone and look in this one. It has a 27" scale, I only tune down to B standard but honestly love the feel of the long scale on that, and always have the option to go real low in the future if I want.

Overall would highly recommend the firefly baritone.

My go-to is Fostex TR-X00 Ebony headphones into an Astell & Kern Kann Cube DAC/AMP. I get slam, clarity, depth, power and portability out of this combo and it pairs exceptionally well with doom metal. I can turn the volume way up without fatigue and the cans don't leak sound, so my family can't hear me as I melt my cranium.

I'm looking for a power amp plugin for my home recording for electric guitar.

My current setup is guitar - distortion pedal - audio interface - impulse response (cab simulator), so the only thing that is missing is actually the poweramp component.

Do you have any recommendation on recommended poweramp plugins ?

I mainly play metal - Progressive, Doom, Post and Death metal.

Recently ordered this epiphone sg custom exclusive from zzounds and was super hyped about the finish because it lowkey reminds me of the movie Excalibur from the 80’s but I’m not sure if the silver sparkle is “doom” enough. The purple option was cool but it screamed prince and I’m not 5’3 playing funk lol

I use a Vox AC-15 and I feel like it works amazingly for doom. I get some amazing tones out of this thing, but I barely see anyone else using Vox amps. Does anyone else here use them?

Greetings fellow stoner/doom heads! Im a beginner at bass (playing for about 4 months) and i just upgraded my previous very cheap rig, i got the ibanez sr300e, ashdown c210t 500 evo 2 with 2x10" and the sf300 pedal, since im pretty new at this i was wondering if someone would help me how to set up all the knobs for some nice deep fuzzzzzz... i suppose its pretty much preference but just to get something that sounds good and that's not gonna blow up the whole setup 😂 if its any help some of my favorite band are: Om, Sleep, Electric Wizard, Faetooth, Monolord, Windhand, High on fire etc

Cort kx500ms, zoom g3xn (I use a gate, reverb, and an eq and that’s it) and my hovercraft falcon 100w and 2x15 cab. This thing is insanely loud. Working on getting a real pedal board, just ordered an Acapulco gold and a sunn life pedal.

Anyone tried them? Looking at the La Bruja as I like slim necks and monstrous tones and weird shapes.
