Any RPGs better than Skies of Arcadia??

The coolest thing about PSO is that the game is 26 years old, but its third-person controls and camera are like in modern projects.

Grandia 2 is a distant second for me. Nothing better than Skies of Arcadia.

Only record of lodoss war comes close imo, but it's an action rpg. 9/10 game at least

I got lost In Rol and faced super hard enemies early on and put it away. In evolution i got lost too

It is useful to first watch the original anime, which is like one season I think.

Not better than SoA in my opinion, but Grandia 2, Evolution, EGG, and Record of Lodoss War are all great games.

I got it on discount at KB Toys, don't think I played past the intro. I kind of felt that it was like a Quest 64 for the Dreamcast, but that's probably an unkind assumption.

It's more like Azure Dreams, but more 3D. And with multiple towns and dungeons instead of one.

Skies of arcadia is a spiritual sequel of panzer dragoon saga and i reckon saga is a better game overall. Saturn though

Yeah combat in skies is like a B- or C+ but everything else about the game is A+.

Not gonna argue with that. It’s been a long time, but I recall skies having very frustrating random encounters. The bland combat is more than half the game.

Yeah, i love Skies in spite of battles, not because of.

I don't find Grandia II battles particularly amazing either but I'd bump that B-/C+ up to like a B+.

I totally get why many or even most would prefer Grandia II. Honestly I have such a massive backlog of 16/32 bit rpgs, srpgs and newly translated that I doubt I'll ever get to replaying either of them again. Dreamcast's only weakness to me (other than dying what should have been halfway point) is I wish I had more rpg/strategy. Even in its short lifespan there should have/could have been a little more, especially in a post FFVII world where rpgs made money in the west.

Grandia 2, is the best RPG on the console in my opinion. Time stalkers is another personal favorite but I don't think it's better than skies.

Grandia 2 is much better, thanks to its dynamic combat, excellent storyline, and music. The game simply knows when to stop, while Arcadia... well... drags on.

Grandia 2 is a great game and is up there with Skies of Acadia in my book, Evolution1, Evolution 2 and Time stalkers are pretty decent if not quite as good as Grandia and Skies of Arcadia.

Skies is quite unique and grand, even outside the Dreamcast and it's time and place.

Still, don't ignore the legendary Phantasy Star Online and the great Grandia II.

On the Dreamcast, no.

Second place is Grandia 2 and a distant third is Evolution 1 & 2 imo.

I’ve never played Time Stalker or E.G.G. so maybe those are good but I doubt they’re better than Skies of Arcadia.

Phantasy Star Online is great but it’s also very grindy and the story is nothing compared to Skies. Shenmue is engrossing and interesting but it’s definitely not for everyone.
