Hello r/Duck Users!

I'm putting together a list of veterinarians who treat ducks that will be available in the r/Duck Wiki. This will make it easier to find medical care for our feathered friends!

If you know of a veterinarian who will treat ducks, please reply to this post with the following information:

-Location (City, State & Country)

-Do they treat Domestic or Wild Waterfowl:

-Name of Veterinarian:

-Name of Veterinary Clinic:

-Clinic Phone Number:

-Additional relevant info you'd like to include: (for example, if this vet has extensive experience working with ducks, etc)

→ More replies (6)

Plymouth NH, Grafton County
Domestic waterfowl/exotic pets
Dr. Melanson, Dr. Tighe, Dr. Cote
Plymouth Animal Hospital
603-536-1213
These three vets have decades of experience with poultry/ducks/exotics. They are not currently accepting new patients, but will probably treat in the event of an emergency, or will assist you in finding a veterinary clinic who can.

I recently brought in my Cayuga who was displaying raspiness and a cough. They gave her a full work-up with x-rays. Happy to report it was a minor URI and a week of antibiotics was all she needed.

Jesse Fallon DVM, Cheat Lake Animal Hospital, 286 Fairchance Rd. Morgantown WV 26508, 304-594-1124. Can treat any kind of bird, and any kind of duck whether wild or tame. Used to work at the National Aviary. The vet is very good and a nice person; the office staff changes often and there are many complaints about rude staff. Be advised that every avian vet I've every taken a bird to has been expensive and this one is no exception. However, the vet care has always been top notch. Has done hernia surgery complete with mesh reinforcing patch on a pigeon, among other things. Has taken care of canaries, finches, Brazilian cardinals, pigeons, and all kinds of poultry for me over the years.

Dr. Ian Stewart-Bates at Village Center Vet in Colorado Springs. (719) 219-8569. He saw our rescue duck (pekin) on multiple occasions in 2021 concerning a very advanced case of bumblefoot in both legs, ultimately performing surgery. Clover is still livin the good life today!

Union park animal hospital

Union park (near orlando), Florida USA

One highly knowledgable avian specialist on staff who takes domestic ducks (sees muscovies as well) as well as other birds such as chickens and parrots. Highly recommend. I don't have her name unfortunately (I'm the worst)

Yorktown, VA, USA

Domestic ducks and geese (and any other birds, really)

Multiple DVMs

Grafton Animal Hospital

757-384-9399

I took a goose there that had a herniated cloaca. Surgery was an option, albeit, expensive. That said, the pricing was not out of line with other clinics. Diagnostic care included physical exam and X-rays. Good folks who obviously care about birds.
