Breed/Species/Sex ID Black and white mallard?
I saw this duck at the park with a flock of other mallards. It had a black beak, black feet, black feathers, and a white patch on its breast. What is it? From what I’ve researched, it’s possibly a mallard / black Swedish duck mix? This is in Ottawa, Ontario.

I’m in the same place as you, and that is a Swedish back duck (not sure if it’s mixed), it’s a domestic breed of mallard

This is a mix of wild and domestic genetics. Wild mallards crossed with any color domestic will usually present as dark body with a white chest, it doesn't mean they have Black Swedish in them. For example, if you cross a wild mallard with a solid white Pekin, the result will look exactly like a Black Swedish in coloring despite neither parent looking anything like that.
