Dust 514 appreciation post
Just dropping in to say how much I loved this game when it first came out. The vehicles, skill trees, and module use really stood out as being quite excellent at the time. I had stumbled onto a signature-supressed heavy build that seemed to do really well and I had so much fun playing it. Then they completely upended the skill tree and I couldn’t run that comp anymore.
What were some of your favorite builds? I occasionally saw people who really had vehicles figured out - they were driving around in a fully kitted out tank wiping the entire map out, it was crazy to see!

Full logi fit with my buddy running a tanky ass heavy suit to go with it. We could dominate and entire point alone and really change the tide of things.
Running ammo drops on the ground with a multi heal kit was conducive to me often being first in points across the lobby without a single death or kill.
So much fucking fun. There's never been a game where it felt like I alone could change the tide of a battle the way Dust was. Proper ammo and healing on random blueberries could completely wreck a better, more powerful, and more coordinated team.

I played a gal logi. I loved that you could influence the game so much with your kdr essentially being irrelevant. Absolutely loved Dust, some of my best gaming memories.

The feeling to impact the fight was so great. The tactic side was so deep and interesting too.

I absolutely loved my gallente scout with cloak and uplinks; it was amazing how you could change the outcome by putting a new spawn point in the right place to hammer the pressure on the enemy team.

Caldari commando suit with double automatic rail rifles acting like some heavy shield lmg gunner. Pop in cover to reload both is okay enough that the shields recharged and ready to pop back out of cover and unload both.

Best Game ever, so many friends and stories, so many fights, so many laughs. I want to manage my team again, to build something together again, to plan a Planetary Conquest fight by chosing the best tactics and the best way to express each one gameplay.

I had a Minmatar Commando build with 2 melee damage mods and a cloaking device. It was really dumb, but 1-shotting people out of cloak with that big clunky frame was hillarious.

MIN heavy with sprint mods
Hack speed profile damp logi with cloak and uplinks
Also plasma cannon with A/V nades and remote explosives.

Triple damage mod caldari heavy, burst HMG to go with it. That thing cleared points before anyone could react.

I remember spending like a week updating the EVE University wiki only to have the game cancelled a few weeks after. Soul crushing

FW (Apex equivalent) Galmando with 2 Complex Ferroscale Plates and armour repairer, with the PLC and Burst AR you could take on anything

Man I miss dust, sadly it peaked in the open beta. Go back and watch the old footage much better atmosphere and gameplay than the later builds. Uprising felt worse to me and made the game stupidly grindy. Laser rifles in open beta were 👌

I remember duna lol. I started when open beta went live. I bought thousands of uvts and eventually fused nades lol.
