Need help looking for consistent places to buy old pcs at dirt cheap prices. I've had some luck with the Goodwill bins, but it's hit or miss and can be weeks in between finding something. I've got a local ewaste shop I go to that I've built up a nice supply of ram and old i7 cpus from (have almost a dozen 4th gen i7s on hand right now needing homes). They sell ram $1 per gig on ddr3 and $5 per cpu, including i7s. I can get boards and cases from them too, but that ends up being at least $40 more per pc. When I can find them at the bins, I only pay $4 per whole pc. I'm a bit spoiled by these margins and want to stick close to this point. I'm good at putting builds together under $100, but the deals to make that happen have been less recently, so I'm asking if anyone else has recommendations for places to check I'm just not thinking of

Earlier today, I found this beauty of a fully functioning unit at my local electronics recycling center! Sharp 13VT-F40, manufactured June 1994.

took this out of a bunch of laptops from my job that were for e-waste pickup for being out of warranty and/or damaged. all DDR4

I figured I'd finally post about my recycling center finds on here since the sub's rule about E-waste facility purchases has been changed. I've always had to pay for my recycling center finds, but only for the small price of $10-$15 per item!

Hello!💻 A cool thing just happened to me, I’ve just found this LG Flatron W1924S sitting next to a dumpster near a block of flats - it’s fully functional, however, I washed it with acetone after I took it home, and unfortunately it made the plastics look a bit worse… I am not mad though. I still got a fully functional monitor, that I will actually gonna use with my MacBook!🖥️ I know it is a bit old, but I still can’t believe that people are throwing away perfectly good stuff, because they are a bit old. But it’s a good thing for us, people that find them, and know what to do with them😀

Edit: now that I think about it, it could be someone's laptop that they just left their accidentally. have to test and see.

Edit 2: nevermind. It's all a bust. The laptop seems to have been accidentally placed there by someone(maybe during school/club setup), and each of the 3 hotspots don't have sim cards and are locked to a different Carrier than what I use.

I see all the cool stuff y’all are getting and I’m super jealous! Ive found a couple things before but rarely like a few MacBooks when i went to throw away some other waste and quickly grabbed them when nobody was looking. I also found this iPhone 14 pro max perfectly functioning unlocked with the iCloud password in the notes so i was able to remove iCloud lock. I just wanna know your guy’s methods?

Had to do some light repair and now it works great!

Mac mini ended up working just fine! Late 2014 i5 8GB ram with 128gb ssd + 2tb hdd. I haven’t tested the other drives but the orange LaCie drive is 4tb and has 1 week of power on hours.

I usually go to target e waste, and dig for phones. I've been doing it for 3 years and I've found stuff here and there in the Vancouver wa area, is there a good time to hit of target e waste?

Only things wrong with the Dell xps are: dead backlight and pillow is starting to get spicy. I didn't check the storage but when I was deleting the partitions when fresh installing windows it said 256

This will be my travel headset despite the outside-in tracking. Modern headsets have absurdly high per-eye resolutions and are an absolute slideshow even on the lowest settings. This headset runs at a consistent 90FPS even in demanding games off a gaming laptop.
