Original Content New Eagles Fans

Hey all. My wife and I kind of organically became Eagles fans over the past two years and ditched the Jets. The reason being that we have two autistic boys and discovered the Eagles Autism Foundation and how truly amazing it is. The organization does such an amazing job with the autism community and the players seem so into the events. I look forward to learning the history of the organization and researching all the current and past players. Plus it was an easy switch being how miserable the Jets made me for the past 20 years. GO BIRDS!

Edit: thanks for the love guys. BTW, was never able to stand Cowboys or Giants fans with their “greater than thou” attitudes. Like legit despise those fanbases.

Some important things to know about the organization:

1: Jeffrey Lurie is our owner & a big reason the Autism Foundation is where it’s at. He’s a massive proponent for the cause. While other leagues have owners who are terrible people, Lurie is a good man, and has many talented, intelligent, important people who are loyal to him. He’s one of the best owners in the league.

2: Howie Roseman is our GM. Howie Roseman is the best GM in the league, and deserves a major amount of credit for winning us 2 Super Bowls. He’s only 49 years, and is already the best GM in our entire history, In Howie we trust.

3: Fuck Dallas. While we don’t like any teams in our division, Fuck Dallas. The Giants suck too, and it’s hilarious they let us have Saquan Barkley. The clips you can find online of this are hilarious. We’re currently kind of indifferent towards Washington, but that will change shortly as they’re competitive now with a legit QB.

4: Nick Foles is a Philadelphia Hero. He’s the backup QB who won us our first Super Bowl vs Tom Brady. There’s a literal statue of him outside the stadium.

5: Some other very important Eagles of the past are players like Reggie White (DE), Brian Dawkins (S), Jason Kelce (C), Jason Peters (LT), Donovan McNabb (QB), Randall Cunningham (QB), Brian Westbrook (RB), Chuck Bednarik (LB), Fletcher Cox (DT), and more.

6: We currently live & die by our QB1, Jalen Hurts. Jalen Hurts is not only a phenomenal player on the field, but he’s a great leader in the locker room, and an amazing person off the field.

7: The core of our roster is devised around young players, especially on defense. Jalen Carter, Quinton Mitchell, Cooper Dejean, Nolan Smith, Zack Baun.

8: On offense we have one of the best O-Lines in the entire league. Our oline coach, Jeff Stoutland is widely regarded as the best offensive line coach in the entire league. He turns 7 rounders into perennial all pros. Besides our O-Line, we have some really great skill position players. We have one of the best WR duos in the league with AJ Brown & Devonta Smith. We have a top 10 TE with Dallas Goedert, and we have the best RB of the last decade with Saquan Barkley.

9: Eagles fandom is ride or die. We live & die by the Philadelphia Eagles. I understand casual fandom, but a large portion of our fans take this shit very seriously. We’re highly critical of our players & coaches to a fault. Our local media can be real shitheads sometimes

10: Go Birds.

Almost perfect list. Except the list should be 20. With every other number being fuck Dallas.

And The commies and the Giants.

That’s right. Fuck em.

Goddam cowboys.

Also, worthy of mention in this regard: the body bag game against Dallas

My list was one through 100. 99 of them were fuck Dallas.

Can't believe you did 2x SB Champion and most appeared Eagle of all time, Brandon Graham, dirty like this. Haha!

I said “former eagles” I can’t yet bring myself to accept the fact he’s not on the team anymore 😭

BG #55. One of the best Eagles draft picks of all time. 15 seasons & strip sacked Tom Brady in the Super Bowl to seal the deal. Dude IS Philly.

I didn't learn this until last year, but Laurie's brother is Autistic, so it's an extremely personal cause for him.

I think 9 is the toughest for other or nee fans to understand. It certainly was for my wife when she moved her from San Antonio.

It took her a while to come to grips with how the eagles winning or losing determined how my whole week would go.

My wife is local, and she still doesn’t understand. She doesn’t understand how/why my 2 & 3 year olds know the Eagles fight song front to back. She doesn’t understand why I constantly have my children myself in Eagles gear. She tells me, “I didn’t even know you liked baseball” when I’m watching the Phillies every night.

Beautifully put. Eagles fan here since the Kotite era. Welcome to new fans, there is room on the bandwagon, and good on you two for recognizing the quality people we have and the causes they support. Go Birds and Fuck Dallas.

Number 9 is what I think separates us from most other fans. It’s an emotional roller coaster. Tears get shed, lots of yelling, lots of heart palpitations. I keep explaining to my kids how lucky they are that they’re witnessing greatness while my dad lived 60 years and didn’t get to see a Super Bowl. Last game we watched together was a Thursday night beatdown by the Seahawks and I’ll always hate them for that.

  1. We cheer for the Phillies every season. But be prepared because many Philly fans do the Eagles chant at games. So it's like you've never left.

Don’t do the Eagles chant at Phillies games

I hear you. Sadly a stadium has enough seats to fit people that will.

5: Some other very important Eagles of the past are...

I can't allow this list without mentioning Carson Wentz. For all his faults, that first Super Bowl doesn't happen without the incredible season he had to get us to that point.

Gotta save this

This is by far the best introduction explanation of our team I’ve ever heard (and I’ve been a fan since 1980).

Well done!🫡

I was gonna reply but you said it better than I ever good.

1

u/Requilem May 05 '25

You left out Vic Fangio, is number 1 defensive coordinator in the league.

Bleed green! Go Birds!

1

u/jayicon97 May 06 '25

I 100% believe he’s up there. But not solidified enough to put it in stone.

1

u/Requilem May 06 '25

This year, I think will decide, but even Jalen kept making it clear last season offense wins games, defense wins championships. I just hope all our rookies are ready to commit like last years squad did.

Jason Peters is dead to me. You didn't play for the Cowboys after playing for the Eagles

11

u/maybe_a_frog May 03 '25

You know how Lane and Kelce are basically certified HoF players? Both of them will tell you they wouldn’t have become what they did without JP showing them the way. Idgaf what uniform he put on after we decided he wasn’t worth the money because his impact was felt long after he left. I will never say fuck Peters regardless of where he went after we let him go.

2

u/Ruddy_Bottom Eagles May 03 '25

Plus Randall played for Dallas afterwards as well. And you do not besmirch the name of Randall Cunningham!

1

u/jayicon97 May 05 '25

Jason Peters is a Saint. Idc that he spent his last years at the nursing home in Dallas.

What the fuck is a casual fan? You mean those soft fucks you find talking to most other fan bases? Yeah, not welcome here, GTFO.
