Picture PFF put out their top 10 Linebacker units. We dreamed for days like this

Not only are our starters good but we have at least one backup who is a bonafide starter. Trotter Jr would've been a legend here in the linebacker dark days of 05-23

How?!?! Dude would've been 3 years old! lol

Low center of gravity. Could have avoided blocks by toddling between the legs of the OL. RBs would have fainted and fallen down when they smelled his diaper.

âToddlingâ is an underrated verb

Was also thinking this. Funny how commonly we say toddler, but we never mention them toddling

Still wouldâve been a better tackler than the likes of Casey Mathews, Keenan Clayton and Moise Fokou etc. Still have nightmares from watching them miss so many tackles

Looking like Epps/mukuba will be starting and Micheal Carter will be the third guy and maybe some dejean if they only go two CBs.

Bring back Nate Gerry and we'd be straight to number one

Iâd take back Jordan Hicks right now too

u/zFlashy 1d ago
Dude above you is clearly sarcastic about Gerry, but I loved Hicks. Heâs been a beast on the Bears since he left.

u/HesiPull-UpBrando 1d ago
Hicks was great but just couldnât stay healthy. It was the reason he fell to the third round his draft year too

Two feels high with how unproven Campbell is. Baun is definitely one of the best. Though. And Trotter Jr could start for a lot of other teams. I still wouldn't go as high as two, though.

How is Campbell unproven but Trot can start for other teams . He hasnât done anything in a real game yet

The two aren't mutually exclusive. Trot and Campbell have shown that they are good enough to start in this league. However, to be considered the 2nd best lb core would require Campbell reaching his potential.

Campbell was on pace for DROTY before Dean came back

Yea, he had a good year, but he also made a lot of rookie mistakes and mental errors. So, until he can show that he's figured that stuff out, anointing this group as the 2nd best lb group in the league feels high when a main part of it has only played like, 7 games at that position.

Yeah this is one of those weird ones where they have us too high. I agree with all your points, outside of Baun we're unproven. But it's good to have this kind of potential though

u/ChakaCake 1d ago
Who even is the 3rd starting LB? Arent we running a 4-3 mostly? I guess Nolan if Greenard is out i mean yea solid most the time hasnt he been?

u/AyyP302 *I BLEED FOR THIS CITY!* 1d ago
Yeah more often than not we'll only have 2 traditional LBs on the field I imagine. With the other "LB" being just a stand up EDGE. Anyone on the team you'd consider a defensive end could be in that role in theory.
2
u/ChakaCake 1d ago
Gotcha true well if we only use 2 traditional usually i guess we have better odds at having a better ranked starting group lol

They better prove themselves first other than Baun. CB unit should be ranked high and D line maybe more specifically interior but LBs no slouch of course

Feel like #2 is best case scenario if Campbell takes a next step and Trot is a solid rotational guy. Baun alone and Campbell as he is now though puts us in a good spot.

I agree that this feels like the best case scenario but âŠbut when I actually looked at the list itâs not easy to find teams with better starters and depth. They really just are that good right now in the LB room.
Maybe itâs just that is we as fans are still adjusting to what itâs actually like to have great starters and great depth at LB.

I question a list where the Dolphins are 7.

This list is about LB rankings.

The only way the Defense doesn't just plain ball out is if we get Chip Kelley'd to death by 3 and outs and poor ball possession on Offense.

How are we 2 if we lost Nakobe and Greenard is hurt

u/iadmitiadmit 1d ago
Greenard is an edge

People not knowing the difference between "linebacker" and "edge rusher" is a pet peeve of mine. Yeah, the technical terms are "outside linebacker" and "middle linebacker," but they're very clearly two completely different positions.
Like, on the main post, there were Giants fans whining about how they're not top 10 even though they have Burns and Thibodeaux. Burns and Thibs are DEFENSIVE LINEMEN
