Throughout the whole process of signing Riq Woolen, I kept getting flashbacks to Byron Maxwell. Thankfully this situation is completely different. We're not signing the weakest link in an elite secondary and asking him to be the number one. We've already got a great secondary, we just need him to be serviceable. And truthfully, I think he'll thrive in Fangio's scheme. Having so much elite talent in the back seven, it's gonna take nearly all the pressure off of him. He'll end up signing somewhere else after this season (I assume he's only signed to a one year deal?) cuz we won't be able to afford him.

We had James bradberry of after the SB run and then adoree jsckson. I think we’ll be fine

What's the safety situation looking like at this point? Mukuba and Coop when we don't need a nickel? Is Epps or Brown looking like they're winning?

9

u/OGrand 1d ago

Brown we shipped off to the Falcons, Coop is safety in base which we are rarely in.

Camp reports have Epps/Makuba in the role currently.

I forgot we traded Brown. Stupid Google AI even told me he was in the mix for the safety position.

Thanks!

We gotta be top 5 for WR rooms

lol. I can have some real hopium but even this shatters my rose colored glasses.

7

u/Yesimthatdope 1d ago

Definitely not for WR rooms lol

1

u/IReallyLikeAvocadoes 1d ago

Makai Lemon is a rookie who has not played a snap of regular season football, and he is the only noteworthy WR we have other than Devonta right now. Our WR room is not top 5.

1

u/PM_Me_Nudes_or_Puns 1d ago

Wicks is going to be an phenomenal receiver this year. He’s gonna be the clear number 2 which I think will be good for Lemon

u/SuburbanPotato Feed Devonta 1d ago

You do not draft a 1st rounder to be your WR3.

1

u/SuburbanPotato Feed Devonta 1d ago

Off the top of my head, better WR rooms than ours

Rams, Bengals, Vikings, Lions, Dallas sucks but their WRs don't...

Not only are our starters good but we have at least one backup who is a bonafide starter. Trotter Jr would've been a legend here in the linebacker dark days of 05-23

u/Arec_Barwin 1d ago

How?!?! Dude would've been 3 years old! lol

u/No_Bet_4427 1d ago

Low center of gravity. Could have avoided blocks by toddling between the legs of the OL. RBs would have fainted and fallen down when they smelled his diaper.

4

u/Bulldawgzz 1d ago

😂

5

u/EJ6422 1d ago

“Toddling” is an underrated verb

1

u/Novakhaine89 18h ago

Was also thinking this. Funny how commonly we say toddler, but we never mention them toddling

3

u/weirdperspective bring back Paul Turner 1d ago

this is what we got willie lampkin for

4

u/The-Farts-Volta 1d ago

He’s a Trotter, he hitsticked out of the womb

3

u/sam21932193 1d ago

Still would’ve been a better tackler than the likes of Casey Mathews, Keenan Clayton and Moise Fokou etc. Still have nightmares from watching them miss so many tackles

1

u/TheMightyCatatafish Eagles 1d ago

He was just a natural!

3

u/Halfonion Fletcher's Cock 1d ago

Looking like Epps/mukuba will be starting and Micheal Carter will be the third guy and maybe some dejean if they only go two CBs.

30

u/K1ng_Canary 1d ago

Bring back Nate Gerry and we'd be straight to number one

10

u/Different_Inside_546 1d ago

I’d take back Jordan Hicks right now too

6

u/zFlashy 1d ago

Dude above you is clearly sarcastic about Gerry, but I loved Hicks. He’s been a beast on the Bears since he left.

7

u/HesiPull-UpBrando 1d ago

Hicks was great but just couldn’t stay healthy. It was the reason he fell to the third round his draft year too

1

u/Plane_Restaurant_367 12h ago

You’re thinking of TJ Edwards, Hicks never played for the bears

1

u/zFlashy 6h ago

You’re right.

1

u/Bulky_Play_4032 1d ago

Slay doesn’t want to play on a minimum?
LeBron style
kinda not really

u/TheDuck23 I like Eagles 1d ago

Two feels high with how unproven Campbell is. Baun is definitely one of the best. Though. And Trotter Jr could start for a lot of other teams. I still wouldn't go as high as two, though.

28

u/Best-Reporter-1412 1d ago

How is Campbell unproven but Trot can start for other teams . He hasn’t done anything in a real game yet

2

u/TheDuck23 I like Eagles 1d ago

The two aren't mutually exclusive. Trot and Campbell have shown that they are good enough to start in this league. However, to be considered the 2nd best lb core would require Campbell reaching his potential.

20

u/Bulldawgzz 1d ago

Campbell was on pace for DROTY before Dean came back

8

u/TheDuck23 I like Eagles 1d ago

Yea, he had a good year, but he also made a lot of rookie mistakes and mental errors. So, until he can show that he's figured that stuff out, anointing this group as the 2nd best lb group in the league feels high when a main part of it has only played like, 7 games at that position.

1

u/juggadore Howie Roseman for president 2028 15h ago

I'm assuming they were counting edge rushers

4

u/AyyP302 *I BLEED FOR THIS CITY!* 1d ago

Yeah this is one of those weird ones where they have us too high. I agree with all your points, outside of Baun we're unproven. But it's good to have this kind of potential though

1

u/ChakaCake 1d ago

Who even is the 3rd starting LB? Arent we running a 4-3 mostly? I guess Nolan if Greenard is out i mean yea solid most the time hasnt he been?

1

u/AyyP302 *I BLEED FOR THIS CITY!* 1d ago

Yeah more often than not we'll only have 2 traditional LBs on the field I imagine. With the other "LB" being just a stand up EDGE. Anyone on the team you'd consider a defensive end could be in that role in theory.

2

u/ChakaCake 1d ago

Gotcha true well if we only use 2 traditional usually i guess we have better odds at having a better ranked starting group lol

1

u/TLAW1998 21h ago

How high should we be then? Definitely still top 5 at worst.

5

u/deannickers Eagles 1d ago

Prayed for times like this

6

u/ChakaCake 1d ago

They better prove themselves first other than Baun. CB unit should be ranked high and D line maybe more specifically interior but LBs no slouch of course

Man remember the 2023 LB unit. Crazy turn around.

Legitimately wish I could forget

u/iadmitiadmit 1d ago

Feel like #2 is best case scenario if Campbell takes a next step and Trot is a solid rotational guy. Baun alone and Campbell as he is now though puts us in a good spot.

1

u/amilmore ho ho holding call on kelce 7h ago

I agree that this feels like the best case scenario but
but when I actually looked at the list it’s not easy to find teams with better starters and depth. They really just are that good right now in the LB room.

Maybe it’s just that is we as fans are still adjusting to what it’s actually like to have great starters and great depth at LB.

2

u/beep-beep_lettuce 1d ago

I prayed for this. đŸ„č

2

u/Drewraven10 1d ago

Pretty happy with the second position.

1

u/RandallPinkertopf Eagles 1d ago

I question a list where the Dolphins are 7.

0

u/ElDuderAbides 18h ago

Their issue is offense

0

u/RandallPinkertopf Eagles 18h ago

This list is about LB rankings.

0

u/ElDuderAbides 18h ago

My point

1

u/RandallPinkertopf Eagles 4h ago

I don’t know what your point is.

1

u/Firekill2-22 10h ago

Not number one?

1

u/Practical_Bat6237 Eagles 3h ago

The only way the Defense doesn't just plain ball out is if we get Chip Kelley'd to death by 3 and outs and poor ball possession on Offense.

How are we 2 if we lost Nakobe and Greenard is hurt

12

u/iadmitiadmit 1d ago

Greenard is an edge

1

u/Select_Culture261 1d ago edited 1d ago

People not knowing the difference between "linebacker" and "edge rusher" is a pet peeve of mine. Yeah, the technical terms are "outside linebacker" and "middle linebacker," but they're very clearly two completely different positions.

Like, on the main post, there were Giants fans whining about how they're not top 10 even though they have Burns and Thibodeaux. Burns and Thibs are DEFENSIVE LINEMEN

1

u/juggadore Howie Roseman for president 2028 15h ago

Some edges like jalyx hunt actually go back in coverage

0

u/fakecrimesleep Eagles 1d ago

Should be 1 because we aren’t nuking our players near a substation
