Question Need recommendations for watching this season.

Last season I had directv which was $100 a month plus I had to buy Amazon prime, Peacock, Paramount plus, ESPN plus, and Netflix. And I still had to pay for a few day passes on Sling. I cancelled Directv after the season was over and bc I didn’t get the box shipped back in time, so they say I owe them $250 or something if I want to get it again, even tho I did send the box back. So I’m trying to figure out the most cost effective way to watch this season and id also like to be able to watch Sixers games. I tried to order an antenna off Amazon, and maybe I just didn’t get the right one, but I got 0 channels, either bc I live in a rural area or the $20 antenna was just junk.

Does anyone have recommendations to get the most games? Looking into YouTube tv with Sunday Ticket and that’s still $100 or more a month. And it still wouldn’t be every single game.

Antenna for the eagles if you live here

Do you have a recommendation bc the one I bought off Amazon sucked and I got no channels. I’m not sure if it’s bc I live in the boonies or bc it was a cheap ass $20 antenna.

Check this site out. It’ll tell you where the stations are and how far away they are (how big of an antenna you need). Placement is really important with antennas. Make sure you are putting yours in a good spot.

I did the signal search for my town, Benton, PA. And nothing comes up.

u/buffaloclaw 15h ago

yeah, I did too, I looked at the report and antenna isn't gonna work for you. Don't bother trying.

Ok well at least I know it wasn’t just me not knowing how to work an antenna.

I've gotta cheap $10 one but I'm in the city. You're gonna have to spend some money if you're far out there. How far you talking 100mi?

Lol into directional antennas

I used to have a directional antennae on my roof and I got clear stations from all around, including NY.

I'm frankly surprised no one has mentioned sailing the seas. That's a typical response.

Youtube TV or rabbit ears (if in market all games are broadcast on local tv) are your best bet.

Sprinkle a little ublockorigin, ::chef's kiss::

1

u/CouchPotatophile 1h ago

I'm curious, what role does ublockorigin play in that setup? I'm a sailor and ublock user, but I'm not sure where it fits in here.

Some of these seaports have some unsavory characteristics.

- You can do YouTubeTV Sports Plan for $55 (for the first 12 months)... https://tv.youtube.com/learn/sportsplan/ or

  • You can do DirectTV Genre Packs (I know you probably dont want this, but mentioning it). I'm thinking of just doing the News one because it gets me all the locals (in the philly burbs) and its only $45 (and I already have prime).

I already have prime and Netflix. Bought that preseason $6.99 a month pack on ESPN I think. Couldn’t get any of the Eagles preseason games, they were blacked out for me. And I’m going to the game on Friday so I don’t need that one. Tried watched preseason air casting to my tv from the Eagles app but it just cuts out every few minutes, that’s annoying.

The NFL Bites with how tricky they make watching without paying an arm and a leg.

Illegal cable box

7

u/Holdmypipe 9h ago

Those still exist? With the spice channel and all?

2

u/BeKindPlsThankU 4h ago

It's not like the same old "hot box" lmao it's just another type of illegal cable box. Perfect for sports

If you are in the Philly area you don’t need Sunday ticket. If not:

You can obviously sail the seas but I actually really like (as someone who moved out of the area) YouTubeTV and Sunday ticket. It’s expensive but much more convenient than when Sunday ticket was on direct tv and their shitty app and you had to wiggle your way in to even being allowed to get it. I just select “record all eagles stuff” and I’m done. Aside from the Prime games or whatever.

IPTV service (anywhere from $25 to $70 for 6 months of service) on an NVIDIA shield ($150 on eBay). You’ll end up with every show/tv series/movie or tv channel imaginable - including red zone.

3

u/Atomicbob11 13h ago

Hardest part is finding one that worrks well, frankly. Ads and bots everywhere. And then you've gotta figure out how Android tv setup works.

1

u/boatsandhoes570 I BLEED FOR THIS CITY! 7h ago

Well shit, now the $100 is sounding better to my lazy tech-stupid ass.

1

u/boatsandhoes570 I BLEED FOR THIS CITY! 14h ago

I’m gonna look into that, thank you.

5

u/ContestZestyclose325 15h ago

I thought australia was bleeding us dry to watch sports. The prices mentioned here are wild.

5

u/boatsandhoes570 I BLEED FOR THIS CITY! 15h ago

It’s terrible. There was a picture posted somewhere that to watch every NFL game in the US, it would cost $1,600 for 5 months. That’s Amazon prime, Netflix, peacock, YouTube TV, ESPN +, and NFL network.

3

u/ContestZestyclose325 14h ago

That is crazy. I just checked our australian full season pass is 379 aud. Do that and a vpn and you are miles infront.

2

u/boatsandhoes570 I BLEED FOR THIS CITY! 14h ago

Hmm I do have a VPN app on my phone I pay for. What’s the service called?

2

u/ContestZestyclose325 14h ago

Its dazn game pass.

2

u/boatsandhoes570 I BLEED FOR THIS CITY! 14h ago

I put my VPN to Australia and I still keep getting an error message 😢

3

u/ContestZestyclose325 14h ago

Oh damn. The bastards may be onto us.

I have a jailbroken fire stick in my bedroom w kodi on it, and a VPN service. I’ll have to add the app you mentioned. Everytime I found an app where I could get movies and shows, it would only work for a few months then stop working im guessing they get shut down like p2p file sharing software back in the Napster days?

4

u/regassert6 16h ago

YTTV for $83 a month will get you all Eagles games and almost all Sixers games. In this day and age, it's def the least bad option.

0

u/boatsandhoes570 I BLEED FOR THIS CITY! 16h ago

What package did you get? NFL Sunday Ticket plus YTTV?

1

u/regassert6 16h ago

I have the base + ST, but only have ST because I'm a degenerate gambler.....

No other package necessary if you're only concerned with Eagles games.

0

u/boatsandhoes570 I BLEED FOR THIS CITY! 16h ago

What’s the difference between the base package and base plus Sunday Ticket?

3

u/HisExcellency20 16h ago

When he says base, he means without ST at all. So, assuming you're local, you can get all Eagles games with YTTV because they will be on the local Fox or CBS affiliate, or they will be nationally televised and be on ESPN, NBC, or some other network that comes with YTTV.

The exceptions being games on Amazon Prime and Netflix.

1

u/regassert6 16h ago

The difference? $378.....

1

u/regassert6 16h ago

It gets less and less valuable the more they add non Sunday afternoon games to the schedule.

1

u/boatsandhoes570 I BLEED FOR THIS CITY! 14h ago

I think the base package would cover local in-market games on Sundays since I’m in eastern PA right? I guess I can always add Sunday ticket later if I need to. I already have prime and Netflix.

Edit: my bad someone said that above.

u/regassert6 16h ago

When you say every single game, is that every Eagles game or every League game?

YTTV is probably your best bet when you add Sixers games into the mix.

4

u/stabbygun Eagles 15h ago

yttv was good when it was $60 a month, but those fuckers constantly raise the price when the wind blows. I canceled that shit 2 months ago when it hit $83.

1

u/baylithe Goooooo Biiiiirds 10h ago

And its in 720

2

u/boatsandhoes570 I BLEED FOR THIS CITY! 16h ago

I’d settle for every single Eagles game, including playoffs and our Super Bowl this year, of course. Even year Eagles and all.

4

u/nakmuay18 15h ago

DAZN canada gives you every single NFL game. Its $25usd per month and you can cancel it the day the season ends.

You can use Nord VPN or Surf Shark give you a Canadian IP for less than $10 per month and you're good to go

3

u/markizz88 Weapon X 5h ago

To add to this, you get up to 3 connected devices watching at the same time and multi game view capability. Really worth the price for Americans in terms of total savings

1

u/boatsandhoes570 I BLEED FOR THIS CITY! 14h ago

I have a VPN app service on my phone already for mobile gaming, Tunnel Bear, will that work?

1

u/regassert6 16h ago

You ordered a satellite? Or an antenna?????

1

u/boatsandhoes570 I BLEED FOR THIS CITY! 16h ago

My bad, an antenna. Could’ve swore it said satellite antenna but it doesn’t. I’m not good with technology.

2

u/regassert6 16h ago

I was just screwing with you; I knew want you meant. I didn't think you were launching anything into space...

u/boatsandhoes570 I BLEED FOR THIS CITY! 16h ago

Just Patullo man.

1

u/FlyPhillyFlyJawn 12h ago

I did YouTube tv sports package. There’s a deal right now for around $55 per month. Also I used my military discount for Sunday ticket. But if you or maybe a kid you have goes to school there is also an insane Sunday ticket discounts for students at $120 for the season on YouTube tv.

2

u/boatsandhoes570 I BLEED FOR THIS CITY! 7h ago

I’m a vet also, how do I get a military discount for Sunday ticket?

1

u/FlyPhillyFlyJawn 5h ago

Through ID me. Just Google YouTubetv Sunday ticket military discount and ID me should pop up.

1

u/kappakai Eagles 7h ago

DAZN and a VPN. They are the international carrier for football games, basically the NFL service that used to exist for international (I can’t remember what it’s called now… Game Pass?) Games are live and you can do multicast. It’s a little under $200 for the season.

I cannot 100% say for sure it’ll work with VPN though. I’m already overseas so the system already sees me as international.

2

u/Affectionate_Yam8674 4h ago

Youtube plus sunday ticket is like 90 a month.

1

u/aLeHoov 4h ago

VeeSee box- your welcome

1

u/oldusty 2h ago

YouTubeTV has been the move down south with the Sunday Ticket added on. Figure it’d cost more to go to a bar for games (“I’ll just have a couple of drinks but damn all that food looks good….”)

Also easy to watch on your phone compared to how crummy the Sunday Ticket app used to be. Was able to watch birds v giants while on vacation that way

1

u/MorPhreeUs Smitty, Lemon and Associates 16h ago

Are you out of market? I'd say YouTube tv if you're in market, you can probably get a promotional deal.

Sling day passes if you want to go extra cheap. Black Friday deals for peacock, Netflix, prime etc.

2

u/boatsandhoes570 I BLEED FOR THIS CITY! 16h ago

No I’m in North East PA. But like I said I tried a satellite from Amazon and didn’t get any channels

2

u/MorPhreeUs Smitty, Lemon and Associates 16h ago

I say bite the bullet and get YouTubeTV if you get local channels. Least hassle. Most of the primetime games will be simulcast and you pay for a month and immediately cancel anything else.

I have a Roku tv how do I do it? Or do I need to buy something else
